RUSNAM
RUSNAM centers pop-cultural memory through the lens of her Turkish-Syrian heritage by deconstruction and recomposition of 90s/2000s Hip-Hop and R&B, an archive built heavily on the uncredited extraction of SWANA musical lineages. Her music fuses recorded and sampled sounds from West Asia and North Africa, layered vocals with experimental, bass-driven structures and post-industrial elements rooted in feminist and decolonial practices.
Through past boundary-pushing projects like her immersive audiovisual performance #ctrl.xx.tension' and interactive music exhibition #de:code, she has consistently moved technical studio controls into the hands of BIPoC, womxn creators.
With Decolonoize, RUSNAM organizes interdisciplinary events and educational workshops that amplify marginalized voices. They have been awarded the Tag der Clubkultur Prize (2024) and the APPLAUS Award (2025) for outstanding concert programming and cultural work.
