Barbad

She is the founder and resident behind KINK and HIR—two influential LGBTQ+ event series that have become vital platforms for queer expression in Budapest’s underground.

Through these projects, she connects local and international artists while amplifying voices that are often marginalized or excluded. Her work extends beyond the dancefloor into community-building, creating spaces where identity, freedom, and self-expression are fully embraced.

In a cultural environment where LGBTQ+ spaces face increasing pressure, her events have become essential meeting points for visibility, resistance, and collective empowerment.

As an openly trans Iranian artist, her visibility carries significant personal risk. Despite this, she continues to play a central role in shaping and sustaining Budapest’s queer scene.
