Bermuda born musician Obeka featured in MixMag’s ‘Artists to Watch 2025’ delivers a native sound and rhythm distinct to his homeland. The multi-percussionist blends native styles from Pan-African, Caribbean and South American origins that became essential for manifesting polyrhythmic electronic beats and tempos with a mix of live and software based drum performances. Obeka has ventured his sound in a multitude of UK cities and beyond the shores in Bologna, Cuba, Lisbon, Berlin and most recently finishing a debut tour in Miami and Colombia. With a plethora of EPs released on YUKU, Future Bounce, Love in The Endz, Basy Tropilkalne and Left, Right & Centre. Jumping into his second year as an Oroko Radio Resident based in Ghana, Obeka has further ventured into the airwaves of BBC Radio, Rinse FM, Rinse France, NTS Radio, Miami Community Radio and most recently Berlin platform Refuge Worldwide. Kontronatura's sound is focused on percussive, hypnotic and fast-paced beats with historically black roots – Dancehall, Kuduro, Baile Funk, Techno, Bubbling House, Global Bass, among others. Along the past year, as a resident of one of the biggest underground parties in Brazil (MAMBA NEGRA), Kontronatura travelled around Brazil, Latin America and Europe presenting his sound in events such as Kode (RJ), ODD + Bassiani (SP), Universo Paralello (SSA), Banana Frita (AM), Masterplano (BH) , Hiedrah Club de Baile (BSAS) , Bahidorá (CDMX), Herrensauna (BER), Fusion Festival (BER), Tought Act (MCR) Club Raum Pride Festival (AMS) and +++. In addition to that, his mixes aired on several notable platforms such as Boiler Room, Rinse France, HOR and others, being selected twice by Resident Advisor as mix of the day at 2021 and 2022. Kontronatura took a liking to breaking expectations and messing with the listener's imagination, believing that the dancing body is free and sees the dance floor as a power to purge colonial violence. As a transmasculine person, understands that his body has political action in response to the lack of representation in the scene, in which trans bodies have little or no access. Rotterdam home-based dj/producer Bas Mooy (1976) has been active on many fronts in the techno scene since 1999. Heavily influenced by a city that breaths industrial strength twenty-fourseven, he gradually found his way into creating an unique dark sound, which lead him to the forefront of the global techno scene. In 2002 he kickstarted Audio Assault Records with label partner Jeroen Liebregts aka Radial, which resulted in the birth of sublabel Arms one year later. In 2013 Bas started his solo project Mord Records, which rapidly gained a huge fanbase worldwide and has been a major force in techno ever since. For almost twenty years Bas was a member of the Rotterdam underground collective ‘Strictly Techno’, creators of over a hundred legendary parties since the late nineties. Bas has always been a hard working and devoted producer, releasing music on respected labels such as Mote Evolver, Perc Trax, Pole Group, 47, CLR, Sleaze Records, Planet Rhythm and of course his own imprints Audio Assault and Mord Records. Fireground is the live electronic project of Angela and Daniele, a Neapolitan duo developing a rhythm-driven approach to techno rooted in musicality and the physical energy of performance. Originally from Naples in Southern Italy, their music channels the rhythmic sensibilities of Mediterranean culture into contemporary club music, combining groove-driven techno, house-rooted harmony and percussive dancefloor energy, a style that reconnects techno with warmth, movement and musical depth. After relocating to Berlin, Fireground became closely connected to the ecosystem surrounding Tresor Records, debuting on the label during its 30th anniversary celebrations and establishing an ongoing relationship with the historic institution. Their trajectory later expanded through releases on the Munich-based imprint Ilian Tape, placing the duo within a generation of artists exploring rhythm-focused approaches to techno. At the core of the project lies a hardware-based live performance where percussion, expressive synthesis and harmonic movement unfold through evolving rhythmic patterns.
