Dance music was always about having fun. It’s an ethos that has not escaped Cesar Merveille, the Paris-born enchanter whose ascent through the ranks of house and techno has been powered by an irrepressible joie de vivre, matched only by a desire to be challenged by everything he does. Encouraged by creative freedom during his formative years, Cesar learnt to listen to his instincts and keep a healthy dose of soul in everything he turned his hand to. The following years, spent immersed in London’s underground, soon found Cesar holding residencies for such fabled parties as Lo-Kee and the T-Bar. It was his later partnership with Cadenza that propelled really Cesar to the world stage, providing a platform for his music to reach a broad audience and enabling him to command dancefloors big and small the world over. Such exposure has also given rise to new artistic ventures, most notably working with long-time friend Ryan Crosson on the “DRM” project. The full-length album from the pair came to light on Visionquest, providing space for them to explore textures and moods unconstrained by the dancefloor’s demands. From his current base in Berlin, Cesar has embraced the natural workflow of hardware production, immersing himself in a studio powered by machines and intuition. His new label Roche Madame is a product of this, channeling the creative energy of musical allies to give rise to new collaborations. Inspired by a secret family location off the coast of Brittany, the label is both a tribute to his roots and a celebration of the here and now, a moment that Cesar is forever living in. His journey through the underground has given him a deep-rooted connection to the core of dance music and an acute ear for quality across all genres. Whether he’s tearing up a dark warehouse at 4 a.m. in LA, setting a vibe with chilled hip hop in places like Kasheme in Zurich, or compiling one of his signature jazz podcasts, Clovis captivates audiences with his versatility. His principle medium is the vinyl format, and his tastes range widely from 90s/00s house and progressive to trance and choice tech house nuggets, with a healthy dash of acid, electro, minimal and techno also in the mix. He has played for party series Resolute, Golden Record and Import/Export amongst others. He is a fixture on the NYC club circuit at such venues as Outer Heaven, Mansions, Elsewhere, h0L0, and is founder of the NYC club Signal. Internationally, he and has been booked for the Trotamundo Festival and established European institutions such as Club der Visionäre and Kater Blau in Berlin, and The Lion & Lamb in London. Julie Marghilano is a multi talented musician and performer - trained classical violinist, daughter of a jazz musician father and vocalist mother, her roots run deep and have flourished throughout the endeavours she's pursued, created or worked on. The DJ, producer and label owner of Sol Asylum is an eclectic selector with a library of records spanning years that explores a myriad of nuances and genres within dance music and beyond. With coveted residencies in the formative years of renowned clubs in Italy, Peter Pan, Echoes, and most recently the Berlin institution, Club der Visionäre/Hoppetosse, Julie has solidified her place as a respected artist in the dance music scene. Hailing from Las Vegas, she now calls Berlin home after residing in Italy. She regularly travels the world touring in clubs and festivals the caliber of Flash - Washington, Golden Records - New York, Slowdance - Moscow, and Freerotation festival. Recently, she has pushed her musical boundaries by experimenting with different genres and creating an experimental ambient track using 7 violin loops for the Advanced Public Listening compilation featuring impressive musical masters such as Matthew Herbert, Move D, Takeshi Nishimoto, Atom TM, Ricardo Villalobos and more.
