Born and raised on the Canadian prairies, with Filipino, Irish and Scottish roots, Babxi moved to Berlin in 2013. Born in Paris, raised in Hong Kong, and now rooted in Berlin, his sound carries a mix of places, eras, and energies and he is drawn to music that feels physical but emotional at the same time. His sets often move between rolling grooves, euphoric melodies, trippy percussion, chunky basslines, and those strange in-between records that do not sit neatly in one genre but make perfect sense in the room. There is a strong digging element to what he does, with a focus on forgotten records, overlooked B-sides, and tracks from a time when house, trance, prog, and breaks were all bleeding into each other in weird and exciting ways. Over the last few years, he has become a familiar name in Berlin’s underground circuit, playing at places like Sisyphos, Watergate, KaterBlau, KitKat, RSO, Wilde Renate, HÖR, and more, alongside appearances outside the city in Copenhagen, Munich, Hamburg, Taipei, Bangkok, Hong Kong, and London.
