Looking beyond the realm of 4/4 techno to explore left-field sound design and rhythmic complexity, the Berghain resident’s string of signature solo releases for the club’s Ostgut Ton imprint and Smalltown Supersound have explored the rhythmic functionality of pumping, twisting and constantly evolving modular electronics. These popular releases and live performances have earned Barker widespread acclaim from the underground to the mainstream and everything in-between, both off and on the dancefloor. After an intense, fruitful period of experimentation and conceptual development, Barker released his solo debut EP Debiasing on Ostgut Ton in 2018, containing four hypnotic and kick-less dancefloor experiments based on research into behaviorism and cognitive bias. This was followed by his solo debut album Utility, a playful but intentional musical approach to translating a spectrum of transhumanist ideas, packed into a deeper exploration of the emotive potential of rhythmic ambient electronics and – once again – almost entirely without kick drums. Both releases were received by many as instant classics, helping to define a discrete category of ambient dance music. Utility made numerous Best of 2019 year’s end lists, including Pitchfork, The Quietus, DJ Mag, Resident Advisor and others. It also earned the title of Mixmag’s Album of The Year 2019. As Philip Sherburne wrote in his Pitchfork review: “For anyone who has ever fantasized about dissolving into the dancefloor, Utility is about as close as it gets.” These releases were followed by two limited-edition white label EPs for Ostgut, BARKER001 and BARKER002. In 2023, he released the Unfixed EP on Smalltown Supersound, followed by another limited-edition white label 12" on the label in 2025, Cosmic Microwave / Stochastic Dynamics In Non-Linear Systems. In April 2025, Barker released his second full-length Stochastic Drift. Inspired in part by Euclidean and probabilistic patterns as well as the chaos and uncertainty of the preceding years, it emerged from a place of vulnerability that announced itself in the music's emotional impact. Boomkat celebrated the album as unfolding "like a galaxy-brained afters playlist…Barker's relentless research and development makes his music as fluid and mutable as his palette." In their Best New Music review, Pitchfork's Harry Tafoya described it as "his most dazzling and definitive statement to date." Stochastic Drift was also named Mojo Magazine's #1 Electronic Album of 2025. Whether performing live solo or as part of a group, DJing on his own or B2B, Barker combines bass music, techno, electro, breakbeat, dub and ambient elements that coalesce into a distinctive, future-facing vision. He is one-half of Barker & Baumecker with longtime Panorama Bar resident nd_baumecker, with whom he has released multiple EPs, two albums and dozens of remixes. And his expansive approach to unorthodox musical exploration has led to ongoing live collaborations with the likes of Norwegian saxophonist Bendik Giske, alongside Speedy J, Rødhåd and Sebastian Mullaert in the shapeshifting live improv outfits Stoor, WSNWG and Circle of Live, installations developed with creative computer programmer Kay Sievers / Versio Duo, and remixes for the likes of Martin Gore, Tangerine Dream, JakoJako, and Planetary Assault Systems. It's a perspective also reflected in his curation of the Leisure System label and Berghain club night of the same name, which held the longest residency in Berghain's history. Launched in 2008, with the label following in 2009, Leisure System has since released seminal works by the likes of Dopplereffekt, Objekt, JakoJako, and Visionist, among many others. In addition to his recorded music, live sets, and DJing, Barker is an active instrument designer who combines coding skills with analogue, electric and acoustic instrument construction for his experimental archive and platform Voltek Labs. In the summer of 2020, he contributed a large-scale sound installation, Piano-1, to Berghain’s Studio Berlin art exhibition, featuring a self-playing piano performing generative serial compositions named Attune, which emphasize democratic harmonic relationships between tones. He has also delved deep into constructing his own MIDI-triggered acoustic instruments, including a prepared plate reverb and various percussion instruments, notably used to explore the resonant architecture of Detroit’s empty, abandoned factories with Underground Resistance’s Ray7. In August 2024, Barker collaborated with Kay Sievers / Versio Duo on the Discrete Ensemble installation, at the Neuenationalgalerie in Berlin, built around a set of eight MIDI-controlled mechanical string instruments called Viola-1. In September 2025, he performed alongside Norwegian saxophonist Bendik Giske for Atonal Festival in Berlin, with further live and studio collaborations for the pair on the horizon. Barker’s musical focus continues to be on the peak-time dancefloor potential of ambient music as he works on another album and label. Operating on the periphery of club music, he continues to shift its centre.Their RA profile lists Ostgut Ton, Smalltown Supersound, Leisure System, Air Texture and 2 more.Last at Dark Matter Berlin in Aug · often with Ryan Elliott, Steffi, DJ Nobu, none of them here that night
“Creating sonic bridges from the literal, perceivable world into mythical, imaginal realms is what Sardinian-born and Berlin-based DJ and Producer Claudio PRC might be best known for.”

the whole biography
Creating sonic bridges from the literal, perceivable world into mythical, imaginal realms is what Sardinian-born and Berlin-based DJ and Producer Claudio PRC might be best known for. Since appearing in the Italian deep techno scene in 2006, he has developed an immersive sound world inspired by a fascination with Detroit techno and electroacoustics. By studying Music and New Technologies, he gained sonic and tonal combination skills - this, paired with a conscious, philosophical approach, has led him to create a distinct sound. A sound that understands electronic music through a cyclical, cosmic lens. Instead of using extravertive elements, he enhances the overall experience through a wide-screen appeal, playing with spatial awareness through details and taking the audience on a journey into the all-or-nothing of sound. Following the first album “Inner State” on Prologue Music in 2012, Claudio released long players on Semantica Records and his co-founded label, TGP (The Gods Planet). An undeniably profound connection to the island of Sardinia is palpable in all of his works. It surfaces through the relationship with his home base collective Basstation in Cagliari or the appearance of oceanic references in his music like in his most recent, well-received EP “Challenger Deep” on the dutch label Delsin Records (2022). In 2020, Claudio founded 012, a platform for art and sound research. 012 is a canvas to live the unconstrained and interconnected nature of artistic vision. Next to being a label showcasing collaborative work, it is also a curated night held at several clubs across Europe. Collaborations include closely connected artists such as Luigi Tozzi or, more recently, Blazej Malinowski. Over the years, he created a flourishing ecosystem of artists and producers and invites them to join 012 or to his ambient-explorative radio show Deepartment. The combination of audio and visual experiences is as important as the connection between the real and the imaginal in Claudio’s work. One apparent example was his performance “From the nebular stars to the mosses on the granite rocks” during Berlin Art Week in 2015. Like in everything he does, a Claudio PRC DJ set is a meticulously sewn journey. This makes him a key protagonist in the emerging world of hypnotic techno, playing regularly at an international level at the most reputable festivals and clubs. From 2023 on Claudio PRC is holding a residency at Berlin’s long-standing Techno institution Tresor.Their RA profile lists Delsin, Semantica Records, Affin, Prosthetic Pressings and 6 more.often with Decoder, Isabel Soto, Afrikan Sciences, none of them here that night

Leaning into the hypnotic, the tension-building, and the euphoric release—Lolsnake (she/they) does not simply play to a room, she creates it. With a fluid, genre-defiant approach, her sets move between the reduced and the raw, the dramatic and the unpredictable, stirring up heady atmospheres and hypnotic moods on the dancefloor. Driving rhythms and intricate sound design sit alongside moments of startling emotional depth — a sonic signature that is at once intense and deeply feeling, cerebral and magnetically unpredictable. A regular at Berghain, Lolsnake is also the founder of Weeeirdos, a queer platform that champions subversive joy, curiosity, and community. As a DJ and visual artist, her multifaceted background fuels a perspective that is both boundary-pushing and deeply rooted in connection — her sets a constant balance between classic dancefloor accessibility and a desire to push at the edges of genre convention. In 2025, Lolsnake took her sound global, performing at Bassiani (Tbilisi), Basement NYC, WHOLE Festival, and returned to Berghain for several celebrated sets that reflected her evolving sonic palette. Her genre-crossing energy has also been showcased in guest mixes for Mixmag, DJ Mag, The Lot Radio, and Crack Magazine. Weeeirdos, which began in 2017 as a hybrid event combining live music, performance and visual art, has since become one of Berlin's most vital queer dance platforms. In 2023, it moved from OHM to a residency at Säule (Berghain). That same year, Boiler Room invited Lolsnake to curate a Weeeirdos live stream from Berlin's dungeon-like Nåpoleon Komplex. Lolsnake has since been asked to curate key events on the Berghain Mainfloor, The Ground (Space) Miami, Radion Amsterdam, and more. Born in California to Iraqi parents and raised in Oakland, Lolsnake's musical roots trace back to classical training in clarinet, saxophone, and bass clarinet. Her teenage years were shaped by a love of Depeche Mode, Underworld, The Knife, and the Arabic tapes of Oum Kalthoum and Fairouz. A move to Manchester in 2010 to study neuroscience immersed her in the UK's DIY rave scene. Berlin followed in 2014, where she found a deep sense of belonging in the city's queer nightlife. After a decade in Berlin, Lolsnake's sets have matured into shimmering constellations of rhythm — reduced and raw one moment, warm and euphoric the next, with mischievous curveballs at just the right moment. With plans to launch the Weeeirdos label and take the project on a global tour, she remains a powerful force in contemporary club culture: driven by feeling, rooted in community, and guided by no rules but her own.Last at Berghain in Aug · often with Soundstream, VINVAR, Curses, none of them here that night

As a DJ, he has held residencies at world-renowned clubbing institutions, including Fuse, Bassiani, Smartbar, and Berghain / Panorama Bar, where he is one of the few artists trusted to play both floors. “As Matthew E he fashions club-based, dancefloor slayers.”
their own biography
the whole biography
As Matthew E he fashions club-based, dancefloor slayers. Under that aegis he’s updated the classic Chi-town, jackin’ sound beloved of house aficionados and layered it with fractured funk, belligerent, oddball beats and mechanical soul. If Matthew E is all about the Saturday Night Fever, then, by contrast, Rekid is the slower, more deliberate, rhythmical funk of the mid-week mayhem. Its well-intentioned muscular intensity making it perfect soulful sustenance. Quiet Village is something else all together. A collaboration with long-time musical sparring partner Joel Martin (a vinyl freak, like Mr Edwards, who works in esteemed auction house Christie’s pop department), it’s sample-based music which veers from drawn out disco-not-disco delirium to evocative, under-stated soundscapes. Sea Devils - you keeping up at the back? – is undeniable electronic pop brilliance. Working with Tom from Cagedbaby, it’s the least niche of Matt’s projects and thanks to Sea Devils alluring pop dance grooves they’ll no doubt be shagging the upper reaches of the hit parade sometime soon. Last, but by no means least etc, etc, etc, is Radio Slave. Perhaps Matt’s most instantly recognisable nom de guerre, thanks in part to his inspirational melding of Kylie’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head to New Order’s Blue Monday, this is Matt’s DJ moniker and the guise under which he completes his incendiary remixes and re-edits. However, before such sonic schizophrenia gets you calling for the men in white coats, just feel the quality and consider Matt’s legacy. Fired by the first wave of acid house, Matt gained his musical spurs by partying to dance music that was just that: music you danced to, irrespective of tribal factions. This was the raison d’être he acknowledged when he took to the decks, first at London’s legendary Milk Bar in 1992, then onto the, then, recently opened Ministry Of Sound and then to parties across the country, most notably in Wales – where he was a regular at free parties – and in Brighton, his home since 1998. His love of re-edits, dance music’s oft-forgotten backbone, led Matt into the studio himself. His own re-edits and remixes, such as the aforementioned epoch-defining re-imagining for Ms Minogue, soon gave way to his own productions and since the floodgates opened there’s been no stopping the man known as, erm, Matthew E, Quiet Village, Sea Devils, Rekid and Radio Slave. He’s released records for Skint, Soul Jazz, Classic, Whatever We Want, and he’s worked with fellow travellers, Belgium’s The Glimmers. If Matt comes up with another two projects he’ll have enough alter egos for every day of the week. Psychologists would probably have a field day with him; mercifully, we don’t have to worry about any crisis of identity, we just get to keep on dancing.Their RA profile lists International DeeJay Gigolo Records, Buzzin Fly, Green, Ostgut Ton and 6 more.Last at Berghain in Aug · often with Tal Fussman, Kameliia, DJ Minx, none of them here that night

In 2013 a French translation was published, and in October 2014 Sven von Thülen and Felix Denk self-published an English translation called Der Klang der Familie - Berlin, Techno and the Fall of the Wall, followed by a translation into Spanish in November 2015. A Russian translation will be published in late 2019. The book was turned into a TV documentary called "Wendeklang"/"In This Place Called Techno", for which Sven von Thülen co-wrote the script.
