Who they are
“Phara spins an intricate, contemporary take on techno while never losing touch with the genre's essence.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Phara spins an intricate, contemporary take on techno while never losing touch with the genre's essence. Influenced by the pioneering sounds of Detroit, Berlin and the UK, as well as post-punk, wave, EBM and electro, he makes compelling, highly personal tracks that ooze energy. Having emerged on the international scene with the "Next Of Kin" album on Black Sun Records, further experimentation with a slew of classic hardware synthesizers and outboard effects led to an analog-oriented practice and a selection of EPs that found a home at other blue chip imprints such as Soma,SK Eleven, Stockholm LTD and Planet Rhythm. Eventually his urge to move rapidly spurred the set-up of "Phaaar", the gimmick-free record label that serves as an additional output for his own music. It is clear Phara's production method is informed by the club and vice versa: the groove and power present on his records move and intertwine in the same fluid motion that he taps into as a DJ. He plays vinyl-only sets that navigate an intersection of fast rhythms, industrial atmospheres and dubbed-out pulses, backed by a collection of stone-cold classics. His venturesome spirit, understanding of dancefloor dynamics and pin-accurate mixing skills landed him a well-traveled booking schedule and a resident spot at Fuse, his hometown Brussels' legendary techno venue. In 2022, he ventured into new territory and debuted his live show, taking the Korg EMX-1 - a machine he knows inside and out - from the studio to the main stage. Showing a whole lot can be done with little, these performances adequately represent Phara's approach. The fusion of propulsive drum sequences, detuned chords and rumbling bass he fires from what is arguably his favorite piece of gear indeed both recounts and re-imagines the power of classic techno.Their RA profile lists Soma Records, Stockholm LTD, Sonntag Morgen, Planet Rhythm Records and 5 more.often with Bennet (DE), OPH, Setaoc Mass, none of them here that night

“Ben Sims is one of techno’s most exciting talents - a DJ who has stayed true to the genre’s funk, groove and electronic fused origins whilst continuing to embrace and nurture its development over the past 25 odd years.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Ben Sims is one of techno’s most exciting talents - a DJ who has stayed true to the genre’s funk, groove and electronic fused origins whilst continuing to embrace and nurture its development over the past 25 odd years. Schooled on a diet of Hip Hop, Reggae, Soul, House and Rave in the 80’s, he played a huge part in defining British dance music in the 90s and continues to be an ardent champion of new music, producers and DJs via his many nights, record labels, radio shows, podcasts and relentless touring endeavors. As a DJ, Sims commands your attention, both visually and musically with anything from 3 to 5 decks running near constantly and hands, faders, effects and EQs a blur as tunes overlap to create a dense and quickly evolving collage of sound. Whether playing to 50, 500, or 5000 this unbridled energy and commitment to the art of mixing never falters and shows why Sims is regarded as one of the true masters on the circuit, both a DJ’s DJ and a straight-up party rocker in equal measures. In the studio, Sims has notched up over 50 original productions as well as countless remixes and edits in the past two decades. Embraced by techno’s originators and Detroit ambassadors he’s been, uniquely for a UK artist, called upon by Jeff Mills, Robert Hood and Kevin Saunderson for remixes as well as contributing to the majority of influential European labels from Mote Evolver to Drumcode to Cosmic to Token via Tresor, CLR, and his own (now completed) Theory imprint. Most recently, his disco/house leanings have birthed Ron Bacardi, an alias that has quickly established itself and resulted in 12”s dropping on Bass Culture, Karlovak, Way Back Wednesday and Hardgroove. Outside of the studio and club, the dedication, enthusiasm and search for the next great record/ talent continues. His monthly Run it Red radio show on NTS Live is devoted to new music, his club night, Machine (co-founded with Kirk Degiorgio), was set up to only showcase new music and his label activities, currently taking in Symbolism and Hardgroove, continue to provide rock solid platforms for new producers whilst also showcasing his own studio experiments. Never resting on his laurels, Sims continues to challenge himself at every turn. From a succession of dynamic b2b sets with other highly respected Techno DJs like DVS1, James Ruskin, ROD or Truncate, through his small-room b2b club night Kabuki, countless label/release projects, or a devotion to actively seeking out interesting club nights to play alongside the tried and tested, there’s always something fresh to get excited about with Ben Sims and you can trust that when the current boom (and its converts) move on, he’ll still be here, doing his thing and pushing his vision of techno.Their RA profile lists Intec Digital, MB Elektronics, Dark House Music, Drumcode and 6 more.often with Stephanie Sykes, Sven von Thülen, GLOBUS, none of them here that night

MARRØN is always trying to exceed the limits of himself and the crowd, with his fast but extremely rhythmic sound driven by his roots. Highly inspired by the powerful and strong-willed Marrons who freed themselves from slavery to live freely in the primeval forest of Surinam. Starting his musical evolution with Afro Deep, characterized by its African beats and used these elements to connect with techno music. The freedom and diversity of techno persuaded him to really dig into the underground scene and create a name of his own. the whole biography
Rolando grew up in south west Detroit, a Hispanic district, he was heavily influenced by his cultural Latin rhythms and percussion. Inspired from an early age by his musician father, he pursued his own interest in music and became well known and respected within the community. It was later when he heard Jeff Mills in 1985 as "The Wizard" that he discovered the innovative sounds of Techno. Through a mutual friend he was introduced to Mike Banks and joined Underground Resistance in 1994. In 1999 'Jaguar' although not Rolando's first release on UR turned perceptions of Techno on their head, breaking into other genres of dance music and becoming a classic in the boxes of DJs such as Tenaglia, Morillo, Oakenfold, and Gilles Peterson. The track has a long legacy of reworking and lives on fifteen years later inspiring audiences from all genres. As of November 2004, Rolando left both Underground Resistance and his Los Hermanos project behind. 2014 Rolando has launched his own label R3 ( Roland Rocha Records) and will exclusively release his own music on his label. Rolando now a Dj for almost thirty years continues to work internationally as a Dj and continues to hold a residency at the notorious and enigmatic Berlin club Berghain; as of 2016 he will also be a resident at the lauded and Seminal Parisian Rex Club.Their RA profile lists NRK Music, Ostgut Ton, Delsin, Rejected and 6 more.often with ORBE, Jesse Dorris, Laia, none of them here that night

Her name may derive from the Turkish word for ‘different’, but its energy translates into every aspect of BASHKKA’s self-expression. From slaying the dancefloor with sensually acerbic sets to her ardent advocation of the cultural, political and de-colonial advancement of electronic music, BASHKKA is breathing fresh air into the scene with everything she sets her mind to. Irreversibly shaped by a decade living in New York and the Black & Brown trans women who inspired her truest incarnation, BASHKKA brings the flavour and authenticity of The Big Apple’s Ballroom scene to every party she plays. From her hometown residency at Munich’s Blitz Club to Berghain’s Panorama Bar, where she’s quickly become a regular, her sets channel an intoxicating energy that’s self-professedly “CUNT!” And on the other side of the booth, BASHKKA’s unapologetic integrity is echoed in her unwavering activism and commitment to her community. Through her vocal politics and dedication to SWANA and queer representation in the scene, BASHKKA is reimagining the counter-cultural potential of electronic music’s origins for the contemporary club sphere. Her debut EP, forthcoming in 2023, will see BASHKKA’s brazen attitude blended with a highly underrated technical prowess.Their RA profile lists UMAY and Spotlight Records.often with Gabrielle Kwarteng, Roi Perez, D.Dan, none of them here that night
“German producer, DJ, label and record store owner Cinthie has become one of the most sought-after artists in the contemporary electronic scene.”
their own biography
the whole biography
German producer, DJ, label and record store owner Cinthie has become one of the most sought-after artists in the contemporary electronic scene. Dubbed by many as the Berlin Queen of House, the last decade has seen her become an unstoppable force who has a touring schedule that takes her across the globe to perform at leading clubs and festivals across Europe, Asia, the Americas and beyond. Cinthie's knowledge of house music's foundations is second to none, as reflected by the vast vinyl collection she has been building since 1995. Her DJ sets cleverly join the dots between the past and the present and plot lines between the swing of New York, the rawness of Chicago and the energy of Berlin. They're stripped back and emotive, whether deep or vocal, and always married to an irresistible groove. In the studio, Cinthie has mastered the art of making maximum impact from bare musical essentials. For more than 20 years her timeless house sounds have come on labels like Heist, Aus Music and her own 803 Crystal Grooves, and in 2020 gave rise to her adventurous and accomplished debut album Skylines - City Lights. Cinthie's DJ-kicks mix in 2022 was another high-water mark. It's a revered series that had a big impact on her in the nineties, and her own entry is one of house music's best. House music isn't known for its live shows, and even less so for female live artists. But as always, Cinthie is breaking new ground and has recently taken her machines on the road to cult events like Sonar and Mutek. Her influential Elevate.Berlin store is also known for its exceptional taste: every record is handpicked by Cinthie. Such realness and authenticity have always been synonymous with proper house music, but they are also the values that stand Cinthie apart.Their RA profile lists Skint, Aus Music, Running Back, Watergate Records and 6 more.Recently at Silent Green, Berghain · often with Alinka, Efdemin, Gabrielle Kwarteng, none of them here that night

“Paramida moved to Berlin in 2010 and has since made an impact to the local club scene with a distinctive and sensualizing approach to music.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Paramida moved to Berlin in 2010 and has since made an impact to the local club scene with a distinctive and sensualizing approach to music. Her varied sets represent something hopeful, something unusual, something unlikely. A beacon of pleasure and surprise. Blending proto-house to trance, percussive gems with high-energy techno, Italian dream house and irresistible new beat – Paramida is truly committed to digging. The Panorama Bar resident is a confident, talented and occasionally provocative artist in a city whose musical rules are often made to be played by and begging to be broken. While working at OYE Records, she began her life as a DJ between a tireless party scene by night and days immersed in music. In the years since, those same instincts have taken Paramida to far-out places. Her singular thirst for often obscure, always incredible music has lead her to residencies at two of the world's most renowned nightclubs. Already a regular fixture in the booth at Offenbach’s rightfully coveted Robert Johnson, she started her residency at Berghain’s Panorama Bar in 2020. Having impressed on many occasions, whether conducting winningly trippy afternoon excursions through to a number of unpredictable closing sets, extending well beyond sunrise, dancers always share the energy of Paramida’s singular obsession. Outside of dancefloor expectations, Paramida’s recent discoveries and closely-held gems make up the soundtrack of her monthly show on Rinse FM. Paramida’s taste is also the guiding spirit at the heart of Love On The Rocks, the label she founded in 2014. Its catalogue is defined by irresistible, offbeat club anthems and unexpected 12"s adapted from the dustiest corners of outsider dance culture, bringing together elements from nu-disco, trance, acid, deep and progressive house, breaks and ambient music across continents. Many of the unlikely and treasured connections that form the backbone of Love On The Rocks have been established as Paramida has travelled the world, performing at clubs and festivals across Europe as well as Asia, Australia, Central and South America. Devoted to the euphoric potential of nightlife, Paramida is one of dance music’s true characters; a passionate proponent of music, a devoted resident and quite simply, a DJ always worth hearing.Their RA profile lists Ostgut Ton, Love On The Rocks and Dimension Of Being Human.Last at Berghain in Aug · often with Giammarco Orsini, Bobby., Simone de Kunovich, none of them here that night

their own biography
the whole biography
I started out in a bar called Drama in Kreuzberg, which has been an important hang out for the scene and one of the first bars ever to feature its own djs at the weekend. The Drama has been one of the few locations featuring house music, instead of techno dominating all the other clubs and bars at that time. I used to play a lot of soulful vocal house and quickly became a resident at Globus/Tresor, as well as at the gay Saturdays at Café Moskau. „My motivation is and has been a mixture of fun and communication. Verbally as well as non-verbally. I love to create and play with different moods and atmospheres. I’m still fascinated by the fact that music can release a huge amount of energy and how music creates fun, jollying anyone along without any reason or principle. Music and bass in particular can make people happy!“ Since 1997, when I have been a resident at Globus/Tresor, I gradually opened up stylistically and didn’t feel the need anymore to go along the lines of the techno and house division. Since 2001 I regularly played at the gay/lesbian „Dance with the Aliens“ parties at the old OstGut and consequently at the end of 2004 I became a resident at the new Panorama Bar / Berghain. In the meantime I developed a varied style ranging from new and classic House to Techno including a lot of Disco, Afrobeats..... It is fundamental to my work as a DJ that I manage to let the music, the crowd and myself run freely. I have to turn off my head and go with the flow. This always is the challenge and if it works it is big fun. The crowd and i have to get kind of cosy with each other. And if I manage to build my set up and down, to go to lots of different places, it is perfect!Their RA profile lists Rabid Records, Diamonds & Pearls, Ostgut Ton, Hotflush Recordings and 1 more.Recently at Berghain, Kaos Berlin · often with Lakuti, Virginia, Shaun J.
