    their own biography

    the whole biography
As a producer, musician, DJ and serial collaborator, Chris Schwarzwälders distinctive style of deep, restrained house is hard to pin down, but you’ll always know it’s him when you hear it. Born in Frankfurt am Main in the 80s, he started playing hiphop in the 90s. While making beats on his MPC2000, he dropped into Offenbach’s Robert Johnson club and fell in love with techno. In 2009, Chris moved to Berlin and started DJing at KaterHolzig, where he found a group of people who thought about music in the same way he did. In contrast to the trends of the late 00s, the sounds being made from this little paradise on Berlin’s river Spree were slower, softer, and more soulful than a lot of what was being played in clubs at the time. It was here that Chris began to cement his reputation as both a solo producer and collaborator, who was capable of bringing his trademark sounds to a whole number of side-projects - many of which have gone on to play to crowds around the globe. He joined the Feathered Sun collective in 2013, together with a group of friends including Acid Pauli, Nu, Jo.Ke and Raz O’Hara. Dreamy, groovy and often improvised, the collective represented a special kind of musical freedom in which a group of producers came together to create something new in a singular, live moment. At the same time, Chris’ friend Mira was making moves of her own, and they started to play back-to-back sets, soundtracking the legendary Monday mornings of KaterHolzig, and now, Kater Blau. The two, who are both residents at Kater Blau, have now been playing together internationally for almost a decade, and have formed a common musical understanding that translates throughout every one of their sets - deep, clubby and melancholic. This partnership has also carried on into the studio, where they have collaborated on numerous hits. His most light-hearted side comes out in collaboration with Iannis Ritter, where the two musicians take on a weirder, more melodic & electro approach than Chris’ other proejcts. If you were to ask him, Chris would describe himself as reserved, logical, rational, melancholic and humorous. Which is why you’d never hear him telling you about the hundreds of nightclubs and festivals he’s played around the globe, or the number of hits he’s had with his productions. If you’re lucky though, Chris might tell you about his favourite synthesizers, and get lost in a conversation all about electronics and sound. Which is exactly where Chris wants to be - lost in electronics and sound.

“Plattentaschen kann man kaufen, Haltung nicht!”

    their own biography

    the whole biography

“Steve Huerta is at the vanguard of the house music underground.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Steve Huerta is at the vanguard of the house music underground. Ever since relocating from L.A. to Berlin a decade ago, Huerta's been refining a deep, groove-based sound, equal parts nostalgic and futuristic. His productions wiggle with old school tech house funkiness, but are polished with lush technicolor sound design. Landing on some of the underground's most esteemed labels, like Slow Life, SlapFunk, and Small Hours, his records have become buy-on-site necessities for DJs and listeners who like their house sunkissed and swung. Recently he’s released many of his biggest tracks to date on his own label, Leizure, where he's knocked out a series of all killer, no filler 12-inches since launching in 2020. Alongside this steady diet of club gems, he also isn't afraid to venture into the chill out room. Across two LPs, 2020's Junipero and 2023's TV Slang, he's experimented with dubby, breakbeat, downtempo, and ambient textures, showcasing a more introspective, but no less accomplished set of production skills. Regardless of whether he's turning out a slinky tech house groover or a moody dub burner, his records sound just as good in the big room as the living room. As well as his impressive and prolific production credits, Huerta continues to rack up gigs at some of the world's finest clubs and festivals. With his bag of dusty, under-the-radar digs, custom tailored edits, and ever present new original productions, Huerta has carved out signature DJ experience. In a clubland landscape saturated with sameness, Huerta remains a singular figure. Both in the booth and studio, he displays an intimate and deep knowledge of house music past, present, and future.

Brazilian based in Berlin, Laura has been playing her trademark brand of house-classics, raw and energetic sets she has become synonymous with. their own biography

    the whole biography
(Favorite Recording, Smallville Records, Phonica Records, Wolf Music) Lea Lisa’s journey in electronic music began mid 90’s, shaped by record digging, long nights and a deep respect for the roots of house culture. Rather than chasing visibility, she has built her path through dedication and consistency. Her sets reflect a wide spectrum of house music from electronic depth to more hypnotic grooves, driving spaces, always guided by intention and flow without compromise. Each set becomes a shared journey, a story not just told but written together with the dancefloor. Movement to her music is both physical and emotional, drawing dancers into a space where connection, release and presence take over. Releases on Phonica Records, Wolf Music, Inner Balance and Smallville Records trace her evolution. With the acclaimed vinyl compilation Many Shades of House, she cements her reputation as a curator, weaving together generations and the many textures that define House Music. Poem For The Lost Souls on Smallville, featuring remixes by Kuniyuki and Session Victim, stands as a powerful yet defining moment in that trajectory. Through Bliss, her carefully curated party series, these values fully come to life. Bliss is not just a night out, she extends this vision beyond the booth, creating spaces where quality programming and cultural awareness meet. Her presence at clubs such as Bassiani, Heideglühen, Lux Frágil, DC10 and festivals including, Sonàr, Nuits Sonores, Polaris or Electron, reflects not hype, but continuity, a long-standing dialogue with dancefloors across Europe and beyond. their own biography

    the whole biography
Philippa is a Berlin-based DJ and producer crafting music from the deeper end of the house music spectrum with a strong musical identity and a clear dancefloor focus. Originally from New Zealand, she has spent over a decade embedded in Berlin’s club culture, developing a reputation for expressive, emotionally resonant work. With nearly three decades behind the decks, Philippa brings a high level of experience and instinct to her sets. Her sound draws heavily from African-American musical traditions - house, soul and jazz - filtered through a contemporary European lens. The result is a style that feels both classic and forward-looking. Her productions reflect this ethos. Releases on respected labels including Freerange, Local Talk and SlothBoogie have positioned her within a lineage of artists dedicated to musical depth and longevity rather than trend-chasing. Her tracks often feature modal harmony, rolling basslines and understated but impactful arrangements. In recent years, her profile has expanded steadily, leading to performances at Panorama Bar, Glitterbox Ibiza and a growing number of bookings beyond Germany. Alongside her artist career, she holds a Master’s degree in Creative Music Production, where her research explored how sound can facilitate immersive and transcendent states, and teaches at Catalyst Berlin, supporting emerging artists in developing both craft and artistic identity.

    the whole biography
The London-born, Berlin-based artist masterfully straddles a heady mix of house, techno and disco that has seen him become a regular at legendary spots like Panorama Bar/Berghain and Concrete while his output sits in the boxes of DJs like Ryan Elliott, The Black Madonna, DVS1 and Gerd Janson. With a record store background, it’s unsurprising that Parker’s instinct to dig is paired with an unapologetically high standard when it comes to track selection. As a result, he’s a DJ who draws on undiscovered classics as much as he does unreleased material during a typical set. This perfectionist stance spills into his production work too - taut, energetic and often relentless productions released through a select group of outlets including his own Work Them Records and Radio Slave’s Rekids, an imprint he very much considers a home away from home. With a constant desire to keep things fresh, Parker is no stranger to side projects though. Many Spencer Parker edits have graced record store shelves and DJ’s boxes while 2011 saw the initially uncredited itsnotover 12” series launch, becoming a bonafide cult classic before culminating in a CD album release (and critical acclaim) in 2014. 2018 sees Spencer Parker in rare form. His DJ diary continues to grow with the USA, South America and the antipodes adding to an ever evolving and enviable EU rotation. Work Them continues to grow, with Parker fostering new talent like P.Leone and Valya Kan as well as inviting established acts like Rising Sun, DJ Deep, Italojohnson and DJ Fettburger to contribute remixes to his own Different Shapes & Sizes series of 12s. Late 2018 will also see Parker drop his long awaited second LP, the follow up to 2011’s ‘A Gun For Hire’, via the imprint.

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Meriem S is a Berlin-based DJ, resident at Refuge Worldwide and saHHara, and co-founder of CALABADDIES. Born in Tunisia and raised in Italy, she learned early that a room can hold more than one language at once, and that music is often what translates between them. That understanding is what she brings to the decks. A digger first, she is drawn to records that reveal unexpected connections between sounds, places, and eras. Every set she plays becomes a story built from those connections. She builds slowly and turns sharply. She holds a groove until the room leans in, then takes it somewhere less expected. Whether in a small listening room or at peak time, she is chasing the same thing: a dancefloor that feels good in the body and keeps people engaged. Away from the decks, Meriem curates nights across Berlin’s clubs and community spaces, giving underrepresented artists a platform and building events that look after the people in them.

Jan Ketel Tieffrequent / Ourselves What do you do when you are a young music-lover living in a small east-german town during the 90’s and nothing, absolutely nothing is going on around you? Well… you do exactly what everyone else would – you create your own musical universe. Jan Ketel’s musical journey started in Görlitz at the age of 20 with Hip-Hop, Dope Beatz and radio-shows from the UK who got him interested in House music. He quickly made a name for himself and the very special mixture of slamming yet soulful music he played as a DJ. This gave him the opportunity to be a resident-DJ and booker at Club Nostromo until 2011 – a club that, according to some, during that time was Saxony’s Berghain. As a producer, Ketel has released his organic house-cuts on labels such as O*RS, TIEFFREQUENT and Cajual, getting love from the likes of SLAM, MAYA JANE COLES, HUNEE, RICHY AHMED and the BOILERROOM-crew, who featured his tune ”Wrong Number“ on BOILER ROOM DEBUTS. And, since his musical vision needed a proper platform, he cofounded the House-focused O*RS-sublabel OURSELVES in 2016. Lately Jan has been working together on tracks and projects with his bromie Siggatunez. Today, after having played such illustruous places as BAR 25 and WATERGATE (Berlin), PRATERSAUNA (Vienna), or the DISTILLERY (Leipzig), Jan Ketel is bustling with creativity and stuffing his production-pipeline – well, you know… musical universes are endless. And the only thing that lets you explore them are an idea, and a phat square-bass. Check out Jan`s latest releases and mixes on sondcloud.

He does´t bring you to the jungle, nor do you pass through the forest. EXZ invents his own planet, combining sounds from all over the world he creates his own flora and fauna.
