If you want to trace the beginnings of DJ Pete's status in Techno culture, you have to go back a very long way. He emerged as a DJ in the pioneering days of the Berlin scene during the late 80s. As a producer he made his name with the first release on Chain Reaction in 1995, a sub-label of the Basic Channel imprint, together with René Löwe aka Vainqueur as Scion. Scion also released the first commercially available CD ever produced with the then newly developed software Ableton Live in 2002 and later continued their collaboration as Substance & Vainqueur on the label Scion Versions. Substance, the acclaimed alias DJ Pete uses for his own productions has a back catalogue of highly influential solo efforts and an impressive string of acclaimed remixes for pivotal Techno artists like Juan Atkins, Regis, Kessell, Orphx, Robert Hood, Rhythm & Sound, Monolake or Shed, among many others. DJ Pete earned similar respect behind the decks, combining highly individual yet refined mixing skills with both his vast encyclopedic knowledge of Techno history and an unquenchable thirst for new sounds that carry the potential to push all boundaries. Now based in Germany, she holds residencies at PAL (Hamburg) and Bunker Club (Kiel), and is a member of the 6D. collective. Her debut EP, Self Destructive Mechanism, was released in 2023 on Sine Space 7 and introduced her to a wider international audience. Born in Switzerland and currently residing in Berlin, Germany, DJ Sun has always been immersed in music from a young age. With musician parents, the connection to music has always been present. His journey began when he discovered the world of illegals rave parties in 2015 where electronic music reigned supreme. Fascinated by their organization, DJ Sun quickly decided to venture into organizing his own illegals raves, which led to the founding of the OTIUM collective in 2018. Over time, he honed his DJ skills, specializing in old-school techno infused with influences from hip hop, jazz, and house. Beyond his DJ performances, he has also delved into VJing projects, leveraging his videography skills. For the past four years, he has been creating his own compositions to add a more personal touch to his DJ sets. The creation of his own label, OTIUM Records, in collaboration with his best friend Rødig, has been one of the highlights of his artistic journey. The inauguration of ‘Alarico’ occurred in 2019 after previously exploring several sub-genres of Techno. The alias was formed as a statement to showcase a style that was personal to him. Personal in a way that he became captivated within the patterns and structures of his own sound. Known for fast paced rhythms and kinky grooves he has released music consistently since his debut in 2020 on Joton’s imprint ‘Newrhytmic Records’. Low key, high quality. They're the four words that best sum up Ian Pooley. He has been a part of the underground from almost the moment house music arrived in Europe, and has been helping to shape it ever since. His authentic take on the genre has brought in fresh influences over the years, but never at the expense of his signature sound or in favour of a cheap hit. He’s as well informed as DJs come, so to hear him play is always a thrill. Pooley cannot remember a time without music. He basically grew up being a DJ and producer. From his earliest days in Mainz, it was the sounds of Chicago and Detroit that turned his ear. Because of that he always played more housey than many of his peers and that soon stood him apart. That same heart and soul that first appealed to him has always defined his music and helped him connect with multiple generations while serving up plenty of essential releases. His Meridian and Since Then albums were high watermarks for house music full-lengths, while he is one of few artists to remix Daft Punk (1997's 'Burnin') and have the favour returned when the French icons added their own spin to Pooley’s 'Chord Memory'. There have also been remixes of the likes of Jovonn and countless 12"s on a stream of influential labels from Innervisions to Rekids, but mostly he releases on his own Pooledmusic. What unites his sounds is that they brim with subtle artistry - the mark of someone who has mastered their craft and knows exactly what is needed to make an impact. Never too much, never too little. That was certainly the case with his Silvershower alias, which first offered up stylish, deep and minimal techno on labels like Plus8 in 1996 and then his Montage label after the new millennium. As well as a famous spell of Brazilian-influenced tunes, over the years everything from jazz to soul to Krautrock has coloured his music. As a widely respected DJ, Pooley has played at a long list of major clubs and festivals from Panoramabar to Glastonbury Festival via multiple tours of North and South America, Asia, Canada, and Australia. He’s a DJ who plays with control. The grooves flow as he fuses early classics with tasteful new tunes, always with a sense of fun honed over thousands of hours. Gianluca Caiati, known by his stage name Kaiser, is a DJ and producer within the electronic music landscape. Born and raised in Southern Italy, his artistic path has carried him from his early beginnings to the vibrant city of Berlin, where he based himself from 2020 to 2025. Today, he divides his base between Italy and Portugal while still considering Berlin his home. From a young age, Kaiser showed a natural connection to music. Enchanted by the power of electronic sounds and the immersive environments they create, he gravitated toward techno and began refining his craft behind the decks. His talent and dedication quickly caught the attention of the international electronic music scene. Born in the Netherlands, Steffi began playing records in her small home town in the mid 90s. In search of broader horizons for her creative expression (a common thread in her artistic journey), Steffi moved to Amsterdam and established herself in the city with DJ residencies and her own underground parties. The diverse approach to sound that she cultivated during this period remains fundamental to all aspects of her creative work today. Resistant to conventional notions of career moves or self-promotion, it was her original vision and pursuit of new challenges that brought her to Berlin in the early 00s and to the city’s emblematic Berghain. As one of the club’s more adaptable residents, Steffi can be found in control of any one of the building’s celebrated dancefloors, transmitting her deep knowledge and appreciation for all forms of dance music. From broken beat, IDM, electro, classic house and Detroit techno to genre-breaking sounds from all eras – Steffi will play it as long as it’s funky and it grooves. Her experience and lasting enthusiasm for her craft have translated effortlessly to the international clubs and festivals – big and small – at which she has long been a staple, as well as to milestone mixes and compilations for Berghain/Panoramabar, fabric and Air Texture. As a producer, Steffi has an extensive discography that reflects her constant development as a musician. A long and fertile relationship with Ostgut Ton began with the release of her hit single Yours (2010) and debut album Yours & Mine (2011) (both reissued in 2022 on DESTEFSTER, her new sub-label dedicated to her own club-oriented output past and present). Two further solo albums followed – Power Of Anonymity (2014) and World Of The Waking State (2017) – and a co-production on Virginia’s debut album, Fierce For The Night (2016). With Martyn, Steffi released the Doms & Deykers album Evidence From A Good Source (2016) on 3024, and under the solo alias Crushed Soul she released the Family Of Waves EP (2020) on Dark Entries. As a remixer, Steffi has worked with both established artists and emerging producers whose music resonates with her, most recently Christine And The Queens, St Vincent, SebastiAn, Josh Caffé, Max Cooper, Azo and FJAAK. Through all of this output, Steffi has developed a varied sound that balances classic dancefloor accessibility with a desire to push at the boundaries of genre convention and production techniques. In parallel with her production work, Steffi has nurtured two long-running labels – Klakson, founded in 2000, and Dolly, founded in 2010 – which continue to release a distinct blend of electro, breaks, Chicago and Detroit house and techno by a range of respected producers to this day. Both imprints have also been home to Steffi’s own joint projects with likeminded artists, such as Dexter, Stingray, Shed, John Daly and, more recently, Sepehr and Privacy (as Negroni Nails). Her reputation for collaboration and expertise in the studio has also seen her perform the role of mentor for several music education programmes, including Red Bull Music Academy in 2018. In recent years, Steffi’s tireless search for new ground has been made tangible in a permanent move to Portugal, where, with Virginia, she founded the label, studio space and artist-driven creative hub Candy Mountain, a platform through which she continues to push herself and the community around her forwards. This new home base in the hills outside Lisbon – framed by an abundant garden that she tends with the same care as her ever growing studio – gives a simple, even romantic impression, but its relevance and impact, like Steffi’s, are truly global. The first project that captures the spirit of Candy Mountain is her latest solo LP, The Red Hunter. With her new studio setup, she plunges even deeper into the details of sound processing, bringing complex, modulating grooves and textures into the foreground while intentionally preserving the song-like arrangements that have always made her work so relatable. For Steffi, the process itself is as rewarding, if not more so, than the final output, and she applies this same attitude to the careful planning and curation of her unique live performances. Nuno Costa began his ventures into electronic music in 2008 with his Sinner moniker, and with it he created Warface, a local crew and promoter focused on dubstep, drum ’n’ bass, and UK garage. In 2013 he kickstarted his new project, VIL, focusing mainly on techno, electro, breaks, and house music. His debut EP came in early 2015, when Portuguese label Extended Records picked him up for a release. Soon after, he released on Lewis Fautzi’s “Faut Section” imprint and on the legendary techno imprint Synewave New York, run by Damon Wild. VIL’s refined taste and set building ability has already earned him a place at some of the best clubs in Portugal, and is a regular presence at many of the country’s festivals as well. Fast forward to 2018, where alongside Portuguese artists Temudo and menosdois, he creates Hayes, a collective focused on showcasing the distinct output of its artists through vinyl and digital releases. Fueled by passion, Dutch artist Vera Grace is steadily shaping her own space in Amsterdam’s scene. Her sound continues to evolve, blending modular synthesis with hypnotic rhythms and deep mental trips that make you lose sense of time. She approaches DJing as a way to create something new through layering, while her productions focus on warped sound design. Her curiosity about modular synthesis opened a new dimension in her work. She started developing a fully live analog set and has recently begun performing with her modular system, constantly pushing her sound forward. Her most recent EPs, What Was Always There and Funktion Over Form, convey a clear essence in her sound. She moves fluidly between broken rhythms, ambient trips, psychedelic textures, and driving 4/4 tracks, all while staying true to the genre’s roots.
