Who they are
“Character unlocked: karete bu.”

Character unlocked: karete bu. Rooted in House groovers, UK-leaning rhythms, and a weakness for records with a bit of dusty history. Her sets are guided by hipswings that occasionally take a left turn when the room is ready for it, sharp timing, and a tendency to let things simmer until they don’t. As a former resident at Leipzig’s Institut fuer Zukunft, she fostered young talent in the DJ rehearsal room and developed a sound that isn’t afraid of spectacle when the moment calls for it. Today, based in Berlin, she works for the beloved festival Nachti by Nachtdigital, helping to shape it from the inside out and keeping the backstage just as lively as the dancefloor.Recently at Golden Gate, Monarch, Kater · often with André Dancekowski, Franca, Immy, none of them here that night

Labelled by Resident Advisor as “one of the classiest and grooviest house DJs out there,'' Dana Ruh is a musician who lives and breathes music like few others. Thoroughly obsessed by the complexities of sound, she’s as renowned for his wizardry behind the decks as she is her label, Brouqade — as well as her role at fledgling Berlin music space, KMA60. A native of Gera, Ruh has been firmly settled in Berlin for over a decade now, with Germany’s capital continuing to play a profound effect on her unique way of working. An impressively multifaceted musician, Ruh’s early sound was often characterised by its subtle, minimal tropes, although these days she’s equally as likely to champion classy, up-tempo house as she is a tougher, more peak-time techno vibe. It’s a way of working that means she’s equally comfortable throwing it down in Romania as she Ibiza or at her summer residency at Berlin’s Club der Visionare. A master of the subtle groove, Ruh’s work continues to draw praise from electronic music’s most respected names, with her highly-regarded debut LP, Naturally, released via Jus Ed’s Underground Quality. Added to this, further celebrated releases have arrived recently via equally discerning outposts such as Slices of Life, Cave Records and Autoreply. Closer to home, Ruh continues to rep her Brouqade imprint with distinction. Conceived in 2007, the label is now firmly established one that’s equally likely to push forward-thinking up-and-coming artists and established names alike. Never one to sit still, Ruh’s most recent endeavour is KMA60, a collaborative affair alongside Jamie Fry. Located in Berlin’s Neukölln, KMA60 encompasses a record shop, a studio space, as well an in-house label, KMA60 Rezpektiva. Established in early 2019 but already gaining a reputation for its killer record selection and welcoming atmosphere, much like Dana Ruh herself, KMA60 is quickly becoming synonymous with quality.Their RA profile lists Cocoon Recordings, Ostgut Ton, Underground Quality, Brouqade and 6 more.Recently at Renate, Tresor / Globus · often with Alessia Ceruti, Elia Nafzger, Rick Baguette, none of them here that night

Born from a Dutch classical singer/pianist player and a Congolese percussionist drummer, it comes as no surprise that the art of playing music literally runs through her veins. Her mostly vinyl sets are 90's UK/US/DE inspired, supported by strong percussion, rhythms and a spiritual touch. Always aiming to engage in a conversation with her crowd, dancing to her sets will release that inner gangster gut feeling in you. Body focused, voluptuous house and techno at its best. Doudou MD strongly believes music has the power to heal and serve as a medicine, which is one of the main reasons music has always been at the core of her life. Following her ears and heart when digging for new records, her bag is constantly being re-filled with a rich variety of music. Although the rhythms and genre of her selection may vary, the constant factor is her unmistakable love for every track she lays on the record player. After spending her early (club)years in Utrecht and Amsterdam, surrounded by her forever cherished Slapfunk and VBX brothers, she spent 5 years in Berlin. Here clubs like Berghain, Hoppetosse and Ohm played a big influence on her musical and personal developments. She takes much of her inspiration from artist like Zip, Roman Flügel, Paul Johnson, as well as Steve O’Sullivan and Mr. G. Back in Amsterdam today, never taking the experience of the dance floor lightly, she fine-tuned her view of the ultimate club experience all over the world. Perfecting this craft is a never ending process, making her upcoming gigs all the more interesting for both crowd and artist.Last at OHM in Sep · often with Power Squad, Franca, Barbara Preisinger, none of them here that night

He once claimed that he felt a physical need to make music every day, and it’s hard to think of anyone whose immersion in music is quite as complete. For Trago, there is no “typical day”, but an average one would include a combination of studio sessions – either solo, or with friends and like-minded musicians from the Netherlands or beyond – DJ gigs and live shows. Although now widely considered to be among the top tier of European DJs, capable of working big rooms, intimate spaces and wild festival crowds, Trago’s rise was built on years honing his craft. As a DJ, he first earned his stripes barely eking a living playing in Amsterdam’s coffee shops as an enthusiastic teenager. While waiting for the evening to roll around, he would pour his heart and soul into making music, first blending elements of experimental hip-hop, jazz, Latin, Afrobeat, disco, boogie, and soul-flecked broken beat, before slowly developing a distinctively colourful, emotion-rich, synthesizer-fired style of music that also draws influence from house and techno. Trago’s first big break came in 2006, when hometown label Rush Hour released his debut single, “Live With The BBQ”. In the years since, Tom has continued to turn out much-played, club-ready cuts, including such timeless jams as “Use Me Again (And Again)”, “Hidden Heart of Gold” and his 2015 hook-up with Seth Troxler as T&T Music Factory, “De Natte Cell.” It’s on his acclaimed albums, though, that Tom showcases the full breadth and depth of his unique musical vision. This was first evident on 2009 debut full-length Voyage Direct (his record label of the same name followed in 2010), with the two sets that followed – Iris (2011) and The Light Fantastic (2013) – showing further signs of open-minded musical development, along with a penchant for collaboration with like-minded musicians, vocalists and producers. In the spring of 2018, Tom will release his fourth studio album, Bergen, on Dekmantel, before heading out on tour with a brand new live show. As time moves on, Tom will continue to pour his heart and soul into music, whether DJing, performing live or making new tracks. If you bump into him in the corner of some dark, sweaty club, you’re likely to find him excitedly talking about ideas for new projects or waxing lyrical about hitherto unknown producers he’s discovered. His immersion in music may be total, but Tom Trago’s musical journey is far from complete. In fact, it’s only just begun…Their RA profile lists Circus Company, Rush Hour Music, Dekmantel, Toy Tonics and 2 more.Last at Coco Boule in Sep · often with Joli B, Live Band featuring, Jonas “Stackhouse” Robinson, none of them here that night
