When Carly Zeng DJs, it’s highly unlikely she’ll do the same thing twice. Chinese-born and now Berlin-based, she has formed quite the community in her chosen city through her party, Dissident, which fosters a nurturing approach to music discovery. Her long love affair with vinyl-focused digging is no secret. And the ripple effects of such veracious collecting can be heard in the way she weaves together the many genres that she likes–be it a trippy tribal or prog track with a weird structure or an off-kilter sound effect in a punchy house tune – she’s forever on the lookout for tracks with that little extra spice. Carly’s entry point into dance music in NYC, led her into smaller parties, DIY spaces and warehouse raves and the community spirit she found there is something she still carries with her today. A known name within Berlin’s queer music scene, she is regularly billed at parties such as Cocktail D’Amore and Body Language. Whether as a DJ, community organizer or dancer on the floor, Carly is staunchly attentive to her role within the dance music ecosystem and how to best curate a warming experience for everyone involved. Teo Bachs (otherwise known as Ekkel - and various other aliases) is the co-founder of Norway's Ute crew that grew quickly from smoke filled mornings on the Norwegian forest floor to showcases at Bassiani and the bush parties of Australia. Founded in 2017, the Ute label boasts a cult-like following for its approach to psychedelic trance music as well as long form downtempo and chill out sounds presented on sub labels Sinensis and Translusid. From the studio he emits a modern take on Nordic electronic of the ‘90s that is as mental as it is progressive, diving head first into breaks and percussive trips as Ekkel. Together with Mikkel Rev and Oprofressionell he is Solar Alliance, a live project that unfurls extended trance journeys recorded and arranged in a matter of days. Consistently pushing mind melting sounds through his involvement in groups like Ipeo and The Dosadi Experiments and an ever evolving style in newer projects like H25 and Alvar, Ekkel sits firmly at the forefront of the underground. In the booth Teo has developed a reputation as a marathon DJ, often with Marius Bø as Accelerationsim, regularly playing for hours on end and turning dance floors into states of mass euphoria. From an infamous 18 hour closing at Outsider Festival with Mikkel Rev, Oprofressionell and Marius Bø to solo performances at Seismic Festival and Accelerationism sets at Organik Festival, he is trusted for skilled, on the spot selections. Rakans, is a Dj, Artist, and a visionary. Orientalist, Experimental and eclectic approaches to Arts and Music make his Live Sets and sound choices unique and wild. Rakans is a DJ also the founder of Rawmantique party in Dresden, Rawmantique is a Safe Space that’s main aim is collecting the alternative underground kids and giving them a space for explorations whether they’re sexual, social or psychological. Rakans’s flamboyant decisions with Fashion and Music brought him to the center of attention from local and European collectives. Rakans performed on main floors of multiple reputable clubs such as Sektor (DD) Wilde Renate (BLN) Depot (Paris) KitKat (BLN) and multiple others. His work and background in Art Direction gives him a love to the Aesthetics, although has a touch of darkness, but rather full of life and imagination also- which is noticeable through his Art Works and productions. Rakans’s journey has started from Beirut, a City that’s moving like the tides, full of changes and instability. Between the Oriental Mosques and churches and the western Malls and Fashion brands he has previously experimented with avant-guard and pop music, performed in amazing clubs of Beirut such as “The Grand Factory”, participated in “ReddBull Music Academy”, released an EP under the name of LÜJAH, the album was written about in many publications and local news papers under the title of “The Unpredictable Hurricane: Rakans".
