Whether it's performing live at the late Andrew Weatherall's Convenanza Festival, or DJng in the main room at Circoloco DC-10, Curses manages to bring his punk and new wave energy to dance floors small and big. Always keeping true to his signature sound of the dark 80's and now. Curses has released on labels such as Hoga Nord, Bordello A Parigi, Throne Of Blood, and his own imprint, Ombra International, and known for incorporating live guitars and instruments into his remix work. In 2021, Curses curated a double vinyl compilation (NEXT WAVE ACID PUNX) on Eskimo Recordings, showcasing a passion for New Beat, Early EBM, Post-punk and Italo. The 2nd album. London born, Berlin based fka.m4a (Jay Jackson) has built a solid reputation in the underground scene with a distinctive blend of euphoric and sensual House music. The London born and Berlin-based DJ has made an impact worldwide with filmed sets amassing over half a million streams online and has played at venues and festivals like Timewarp, Lost Village, Sonar and Panorama Bar, features in Mixmag and Electronic Beats, plus Peggy Gou in his corner as a mentor, his stock is firmly on the rise. Born in London, music was always front and centre in his family home, his mother playing music to him through headphones while he was still in the womb. Citing acts whose USP was female empowerment as the first music he found for himself, the likes of Spice Girls and Lil Kim were early musical influences, eventually leading him to start DJing on the queer scene in London. “I was working on the Soho & East London circuit” he says. “I was mainly doing guestlist and hosting but eventually they asked me to DJ and I spent a few years cutting my teeth on that scene.” Learning how to work a crowd as a pop DJ, seeing Honey Dijon DJ on his first trip to Berlin in 2016 led him down the rabbit hole of electronic music and led to a shift in his focus. “I completely fell in love with the storytelling element of her set,” he says. “I spent the next year immersed in dance music culture and started playing the electronic room at queer events.” Moving to Berlin in 2019, the pandemic quickly put a stop to his burgeoning DJ career before a switch to recording streams from his apartment during covid saw his profile blow up, leading to signing with an agency and bagging his first Panorama Bar set when lockdown lifted. Freddy K: techno activist. Since the ‘90s Alessio Armeni has been tireless campaigning from the dancefloor, defending vinyl, championing young talents and reinforcing the scene from the shadows. You will know him best for his marathon DJ sets and deviant selections. You might recognise him as the head of KEY Vinyl, or for the backstage role he played at M_Rec, the label he helped run with best friend Max_M. You should definitely know about Virus, the thing that started it all off for him back in Rome. Lory D and Leo Anibaldi’s The Sound of Rome movement; Luca Cucchetti’s renowned Mad radio shows; warehouses, soundsystems and rave all informed Freddy K’s earliest obsession with techno. He started DJing at Sunday after hour events, having danced all through the night himself. In 1993, aged 21, he launched his now famous Virus radio show, which ran daily from 8PM to midnight, and from midnight to 6AM every Saturday. Parties, a booking agency and record shop soon followed: the Virus movement had arrived. A year later Freddy K signed to the legendary ACV, who released his first EP, Control. Rage Of Age, his debut album came in 1995; a dark and noisy record influenced by his two passions, Chicago acid and rock. It was widely lauded throughout the country and remains a testament to the old Sound of Rome today. After Virus peaked and having toured all over the world with ACV, Freddy K stopped DJing and retreated to the backroom. He spent the early millennial years working with Sandro Nasonte at Rome’s flagship record store, Remix. Together they set up the influential Elettronica Romana label, which released some of Donato Dozzy and Giorgio Gigli's first EPs. He moved to the German capital in 2009, setting up KEY Vinyl as a “techno label for DJs” two years later. Artists like PVS and Héctor Oaks have helped forge the label’s (and Freddy K’s own) traditionalist view on techno. Moving to Berlin reignited Freddy K’s teenage infatuation with rave. He soon fell in with Homopatik, the former monthly gay event at ://about blank. He became notorious for his epic 10, 14 and 16 hour-long sessions there, playing always strictly vinyl and in a dynamic, party conscious fashion. Freddy K sets are characteristically mercurial and 100% tailored for the dance. He plays a “360°-style of techno,” which can include Soft Cell, WestBam or Bronski Beat—when the timing is just right. He played his first Berghain set in 2013; two years later he was closing the place, keeping the energy levels soaring well into Monday. The last 20 minutes, he says, are the most important. Rakans, is a Dj, Artist, and a visionary. Orientalist, Experimental and eclectic approaches to Arts and Music make his Live Sets and sound choices unique and wild. Rakans is a DJ also the founder of Rawmantique party in Dresden, Rawmantique is a Safe Space that’s main aim is collecting the alternative underground kids and giving them a space for explorations whether they’re sexual, social or psychological. Rakans’s flamboyant decisions with Fashion and Music brought him to the center of attention from local and European collectives. Rakans performed on main floors of multiple reputable clubs such as Sektor (DD) Wilde Renate (BLN) Depot (Paris) KitKat (BLN) and multiple others. His work and background in Art Direction gives him a love to the Aesthetics, although has a touch of darkness, but rather full of life and imagination also- which is noticeable through his Art Works and productions. Rakans’s journey has started from Beirut, a City that’s moving like the tides, full of changes and instability.
