Drawing on his Lebanese background, DJ Plead makes tough, functional, and percussive tracks. His unique style references the rhythms, scales and timbres of Lebanese pop and traditional Lebanese wedding music, blending them with contemporary RnB, Club and other dance styles. DJ Plead released his debut EP ‘Get in Circle’ through air max 97’s DECISIONS label in March 2018 and has since toured Europe and China. The Bay area native is an electronic music pariah who enjoys disintegrating and destroying dance music tropes through bizarre and wonderful sound potions. Frequent collaborator of Dark Entries records, he released his debut LP “Shaytoon” through their imprint in 2020. His DJ sets can range from off-kilter house and psychedelic techno, to haute electro, aphrodisiac acid and freaky jakbeat music. In late 2017 he began performing live PA sets, sonically ranging from potent drum cocktails to psychedelic and oxygenated soundscapes. In 2022 he released his second EP Angel Hours to high acclaim. Angel Hours rise felt like it was imminent from the first listen, with contributions from Noa (Voice Actor/Stroom) and 3NDLES5 (Low Life). Mike’s production across the release feels akin to 90’s artists like I:Cube, Thievery Corporation or certain Weatherall moments. The heavenly references are well deserved with multiple moments on the release feeling truly divine, whilst others take a low-lit and alluring feel. Mike Midnight feels singular in the Australian music landscape. Angel Hours continues the lineage of Australian music breaking through to international recognition with the release becoming a mainstay on NTS Radio, breakfast show host Flo Dill dubbing it “music that when listened to at night makes you feel unstoppable.” His recent DJ sets at Globus, Miscellania and on The Lot Radio showcase his unique skills as a DJ.
