  If you want to trace the beginnings of DJ Pete's status in Techno culture, you have to go back a very long way. He emerged as a DJ in the pioneering days of the Berlin scene during the late 80s. As a producer he made his name with the first release on Chain Reaction in 1995, a sub-label of the Basic Channel imprint, together with René Löwe aka Vainqueur as Scion. Scion also released the first commercially available CD ever produced with the then newly developed software Ableton Live in 2002 and later continued their collaboration as Substance & Vainqueur on the label Scion Versions. Substance, the acclaimed alias DJ Pete uses for his own productions has a back catalogue of highly influential solo efforts and an impressive string of acclaimed remixes for pivotal Techno artists like Juan Atkins, Regis, Kessell, Orphx, Robert Hood, Rhythm & Sound, Monolake or Shed, among many others. DJ Pete earned similar respect behind the decks, combining highly individual yet refined mixing skills with both his vast encyclopedic knowledge of Techno history and an unquenchable thirst for new sounds that carry the potential to push all boundaries. Beyond that his energetic sets also incorporate elements of pure Techno, the Hard Wax tradition and powerful House tracks. His seemingly unlimited scope is informed by frequent Dynamic Tension nights at Tresor in the late 90s with Surgeon and his residency at Berghain since its opening, as well as countless successful gigs at the most crucial nights of the scene's international circuit. He is also known to merge Techno with Dubstep and selecting Reggae, particularly while working the mighty Killasan sound system as core DJ member of the seminal Wax Treatment events. DJ Pete's lauded signature style also benefits from his numerous experiences as part of the cherished live acts TR-101 (an improvisational live act in collaboration with Sleeparchive), Scion (either with or without vocalist Paul St. Hilaire), and gigs with many other likeminded DJ innovators. A typical DJ Pete performance is always delivering an array of programming, sequencing, layering and live effects that goes well beyond a mere presentation of tracks. True to Techno's original claim, innovations in sound and technology are intuitively employed to achieve a floor sensation that manages to involve the crowd on as many levels as possible.

  AgainstMe is a greek Berlin-based DJ, Producer and core member of USM Reccordings. The project “AgainstMe” came to life two years later after his first Rave / Techno parties in Lesvos, Greece. For him at that point, techno music was something completely new, uniting and revolutionary which was going against everything that he had experienced before. The distorted textures and the heavy drum patterns along with the ritualistic vibe of these parties made him immediately fall in love with everything around this sound and what it stands for. Since then, his music got released on different record labels around the world like Key Vinyl, Tar Hallow, Token Records, HAYES to name a few. He already enjoyed support from artists like Ben Klock, Dax J, DVS1, Rodhad, K-Hand, Mikael Delta, Richie Hawtin, Kanding Ray and many more. For him, the absolute goal of a DJ is to connect with the crowd and build a unique moment together. So his sound could be characterized as multidimensional, energetic and storytelling. He holds a residency at SMUT Athens and Closer Milano and some of the venues he performed at are Fuse Brussels, Saule, Tresor Berlin, RSO, FOLD to name a few. Currently, he has just built his new studio in Berlin and he is experimenting a lot with Modular Systems and unorthodox techniques to produce grooves and bleepy patterns.

  The cohesive array of depth charged devices that Anthony Linell has produced is formidable. From his opening statements as Abdulla Rashim on his early label of the same name, right through to his recent work that puts his aliases aside, there is a robust and rigorous intent that compounds the elemental strategies of techno's models to apprehend his singular vision. Presiding over Stockholm's Northern Electronics label with Varg (Jonas Rönnberg), Linell dispenses with mechanisms of attention on all fronts. Marked by an indefatigable self-reliance, the label presents exactly what it means to display, and no more. Carving an idiosyncratic platform for his music is as great of a warning as there could be that Linell's leveraging little toward the benefit of the audience. By his measure, the familiarity and comfort of contemporary techno is stripped back to its rushing heart, the senses left tailgating the strobe in a fit of intuition over decision. The greater this is exposed the colder it gets, and its in these extremes that Linell's caustic rhythmic precision hits. Live, it comes off as a galvanizing strike from the outside; analysing the room as a DJ, it's a case of being pursued through the dark. Just as the brevity of Linell's output in the eyes of techno is exalted as it is brought into focus, the background to this blurs as you start to decipher his other projects. Lundin Oil skirts the fringes of noise and experimental music, and in collaboration with Varg as Ulwhednar, this is perhaps even more pronounced. Purposively ricocheting between the techno world and experimental electronic music, Linell forges a distinct passage that gathers the aesthetically uncompromising motifs and missions from across this spectrum. It's this combination and resolve that's brought Linell to the world's attention, however little that attention has been solicited.
