Donato Dozzy and Neel are Voices From The Lake, a duo that has redefined techno both in the live arena and in album format. Their debut full length for Prologue was widely heralded as a masterpiece for the way it displayed such an incredible ear for sound design at the same time as painting vivid, multi-layered landscapes of slowly unfolding rhythm and texture. Also excelling when playing live in serene environments like Japan’s Labyrinth Festival, the pair explore experimental underwater sounds influenced by nature, African drums and minimalism. The world now waits in anticipation to see just where the pair can take their ambient techno soundscapes next.Their RA profile lists Prologue and Spazio Disponibile.often with MCMLXXXV, Solofan, Leeon, none of them here that night

His long-standing relationship with the notorious Techno institution has formed the backdrop to his success, providing an invaluable platform that has allowed him to become one of the most in-demand DJ-producers of the current generation. Those who have witnessed him perform will note not only the diversity in his track selection, but also his ability to create a room rather than just play to it. Though intense and powerful, his DJ output reflects a certain kind of fervour, capturing an artistry and emotion that can often appear absent from the Techno genre. He also possesses a wonderful understanding of how to adapt his music to the circumstances, a competence that means he can be found at both large-scale festivals and small intimate club settings around the world. Much of his early career was marked by marathon sets – a signature that played a considerable role in nurturing his skills and reputation – but even the more compressed sets he shares today evidence an intricate narrative and sense of flow that defines him as a DJ. It was these inherent abilities that led him to compile the fabric 66 compilation in 2012, before winning the BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix of the Year award in 2015. Over recent years his focus has been on touring – but his early works, most of which were released via Ostgut Ton, have become landmarks in the imprint’s history. 2009’s “Dawning”, the first of his collaborations with Marcel Dettmann, kickstarted the label itself and remains a stand-out track in its discography. Other releases of particular note include “Subzero”, taken from his Before One EP, and the Compression Session EP (2010). For many, however, it is his album One (2009) that best captures Klock’s talents as a producer. Still today, this seminal record forms a reference point for all Techno long-players. His skills as a remixer have also seen him rework tracks by a wide variety of artists, including Kerri Chandler, Depeche Mode, Robert Hood and Kenny Larkin. Additionally, Klock also runs Klockworks, a label he founded in 2006 as a home for his more raw and minimal productions. The focus, however, has shifted over recent years, with the label becoming a medium for him to present his more diverse personal tastes and support developing talents. Trevino, DVS1 and Etapp Kyle have all released on the imprint during the earlier stages of their careers. The growth of the label has been aided by a series of showcases at various international locations, including London’s Village Underground, New York, Barcelona, Detroit and Berlin, with more on the horizon.Their RA profile lists BPitch, Ostgut Ton, Rekids, Memo and 6 more.Last at Berghain in Nov · often with Budino, Marie Montexier, L.B. A passionate record collector with an eclectic taste spanning jazz, reggae, hip-hop, rock, and of course house and techno, Elisa Bee is equally captivated by the rich sounds of the past and the experimental waves shaping the future of music. Moving fluidly through ever-evolving creative landscapes, she has been DJing for over 18 years—starting in her native Sardinia before making her mark in Milan. Elisa’s productions have garnered international recognition, earning airplay on dancefloors and radio stations worldwide. Her music has been released on esteemed labels such as Symbolism, Hardgroove, Truncate, Unknown To The Unknown, Balkan Vinyl, I Love Acid and ANAØH. In recent years, her sound has evolved towards techno with a strong 90s influence and one of her latest projects includes a collaborative EP with Detroit legend Rolando, released in late 2024, alongside numerous remixes and solo tracks. Resident Advisor has recently recognised her as one of the finest selectors and producers in Italy: "[...] exploring and then refining a style of techno that has that rare, hard to put your finger on quality: a soulful reverence that pays homage to the old days and the originators without just copying them". As a resident DJ at Tempio Del Futuro Perduto in Milan, Elisa’s all-night sets are described as immersive journeys: “acid, very groovy, sometimes dark, always energetic and dreamy towards the end.” Regular at Berghain since 2023, she has showcased her signature sound through some of the most respected podcast series, including HATE, Awakenings, Slam Radio, and RA Podcast.Their RA profile lists BBE, Balkan Vinyl, Unknown to the Unknown, Truncate and 6 more.Last at Berghain in Oct · often with Marie-Julie, Olivia Mendez, Marie Montexier, none of them here that night

“Jochem Paap (the Rotterdam artist owes the nickname Speedy J to his DJ skills) is unanimously considered to be one of the first techno producers to come from the Benelux.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Jochem Paap (the Rotterdam artist owes the nickname Speedy J to his DJ skills) is unanimously considered to be one of the first techno producers to come from the Benelux. Together with people like Laurent Garnier, Aphex Twin and Richie Hawtin he helped raising the genre just after it had escaped the Detroit delivery room. Since the early nineties, Speedy J releases on labels like Plus 8, Warp and Novamute. But while techno develops into a dominating force on many dance floors worldwide, Jochem Paap, after the albums G Spot (1993) and Ginger (1995), turns left and heads for other exciting places. On Public Energy No. 1 (1997) and A Shocking Hobby (2000) the sound wizard exchanges flowing, harmonious techno for a much more complex sound, filled with colliding samples, crackling rhythms and tremendously thrilling turns. After fifteen years of techno Speedy J now has come full circle. But what a wide circle it was, and how fickle the trodden path. Over the years he has collaborated with video-artists, filmmakers and advertisers, made the pioneering DVD Umfeld, an audio-visual, electronic trip, which sets the standard for many composers who want to compose for six speakers in the coming years – remarkably made available as a free download on the internet. But not only that, Speedy J has continuously been pushing the boundaries of electronic & experimental dance music. Blurring the lines between Live performance and Digital Djing, he fuses subversive electronics and peak time Techno. Together with his partner in crime Chris Liebing he started using Traktor and other Software technology on 4 laptops with hardware such as Machine Drum and 303’s to create a fully integrated set. Again he is spearheading a way of DJing that is picked up by a lot of other forward thinking electronic artists. Logically, the releases on his label Electric Deluxe all feature tool versions, introducing the concept of creating unique live sets from parts as a natural evolution of Djing. Not only setting the bar for peak hour Techno madness, Electric Deluxe becomes the platform for his Collabs series that started on Novamute, as well as releases by open minded artists like Chris Liebing, George Issakidis, Tommy Four Seven and Terrence Fixmer to showcase the value of creative synergy using newest technology. Another strong part of this idea is the introduction of a new series of techno events called Electric Deluxe presents, which in a young history of just a couple of editions brought major artists like Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Radio Slave, Matthew Dear, Chris Liebing into play. Speedy J’s musical vision is genre blurring, creative freedom at the highest level of innovation and quality, it is providing a platform for artists operating within any conceivable genre in the broad spectrum of techno to fully explore and embrace the ever-expanding technological possibilities.Their RA profile lists Warp Records, novamute, Music Man Records, Plus 8 Records Ltd and 5 more.Last at RSO.BERLIN in Sep · often with SUMME, UFO95, Megan Leber, none of them here that night
“Since his earliest days in the scene, Amsterdam’s electronic music pioneer Steve Rachmad has created a legion of monikers to cover the variety and broadness of his compositions.”

Since his earliest days in the scene, Amsterdam’s electronic music pioneer Steve Rachmad has created a legion of monikers to cover the variety and broadness of his compositions. Black Scorpion, Tons of Tones, Rachmad Project, Scorp, Parallel 9, Ignacio, Dreg, Sterac Electronics; they all represent a different facet of Rachmad’s music. One of the main creatures living on Planet Rachmad has always been STERAC, a side of Steve’s musical personality that’s not easily described. Let’s say that where other aliases are used for excursions to more dub-, disco-, or house- oriented records, STERAC’s focus has always been on the no-nonsense, darker, and deeper side of techno. The STERAC discography consists of signature cuts, spread out over genre-defining labels such as M-Plant, Tresor, Klockworks, Afterlife, Mote Evolver, Indigo Aera and Delsin. Over the years it’s been reinterpreted, remixed, and reworked by peers such as Ricardo Villalobos, Vince Watson and Marc Romboy. The work rarely fits current trends or pushes through to the absolute top of subjective charts. Rather it simmers, always ready to spark the rise of new generations, parties, and artists’ careers within the musical biotope we all love. His effort and independent attitude have made STERAC a regular on many a stage. From his hometown’s Awakenings, to Berghain in Berlin, Movement festival in Detroit, Fabric London, Loft Barcelona, D-Edge in Sao Paulo, and more 🦂Their RA profile lists Delsin, Klockworks, Kanzleramt, Token and 6 more.often with S'aint Panic, 1morning, Juana, none of them here that night
“His music offers a rare fusion of populist intensities and nuanced musicality.”
their own biography
the whole biography
His music offers a rare fusion of populist intensities and nuanced musicality. With a keen understanding for the needs of the dance floor and the universal laws of house and techno, he's thrown out the rule book time and time again, sneaking tricks learned from electro and even drum'n'bass into the clubs, and loading up his B-sides with tracks that do what they damned well please. (No kick drum? No problem.) His standards for sound and presentation are exacting. Both on stage and in the studio, Jonson's fealty to analog equipment and real-time playing; as opposed to mere layback-serves as a standard bearer for a kind of electronic music that goes way beyond the drag 'n' drop world of digital composition. Jonson has always been eager to get his hands dirty, and the music reflects that in gnarled bass sequences and long, intuitive lines. His sounds have serious teeth. Despite his quick ascent through the ranks of the techno elite, Jonson hasn't just stayed personally grounded. He's devoted much of his energy to supporting his own close musical family, in the groups Cobblestone Jazz, Midnight Operator and the Modern Deep Left Quartet, and with his Wagon Repair label. He studied classical piano as a kid, plus jazz drumming, and played drums in a marching band – thus laying both the melodic and the rhythmic cornerstones of his music today. Thanks to his father's work as a musician, he also got his hands on synthesizers at the age of 9. By the time he discovered hip-hop as a young teen, he was recreating its electro-based beats on his own rudimentary setup at home. Jonson gradually began honing in on his own sound, both in his productions and his DJ sets, inspired by a deeper, weirder sound that had begun filtering into the Victoria's techno parties. His first record, in 2001, was the first release on Itiswhatitis (a label Mathew bought from its original owner 11 years later). Another followed in 2002, and in 2003. That year, he also made his first appearance on Perlon, 'Alpine Rocket' – a track he recorded alongside Luciano during his first trip to Europe. And then, suddenly, Jonson was everywhere: Sub Static, Arbutus, Kompakt, M_nus – and every track an anthem. "I had all that music kind of saved up," says Jonson, "and then, just by chance, released it all at the same time. People criticized me for it, said that it wasn't a good idea. But it worked out for me. All the tracks did well. I wasn't saturating the market with bad music." He's right there. In 2005, Jonson co-founded Wagon Repair, and it's been a blur since, a nonstop series of tours and recordings, solo and with his band mates. Crucially, he moved to Berlin. His studio here is jaw-dropping, frankly: a semi-circle full of gear, from old workhorses like the 808 and 909 and SH-101 to unique beasts like their Cwejman and Roland System 100m modular system. Tate's Rhodes piano anchors one corner of the horseshoe, and everything feeds into a massive desk where tracks are mixed and recorded in real-time. His two hands have come up with some remarkable material. Having perfected his brand of earthshaking epic with tracks like 'Marionette' and ‘Decompression’, Jonson has increasingly turned his efforts towards more personal, introspective music. He never left the clubs behind though; his 2010 album, Agents of Time, featured a number of tracks that are as hip-winding wily as anything he's produced yet, full-on tracks like 'Girls Got Rhythm' and 'Thieves in Digital Land'. Equally physical was his 2011 drop on Hawtin's M_nus, 'Learning To Fly', and the well-received 'Automaton' on Crosstown Rebels. His 2013 album, On Her Blurry Pictures, too; here Jonson took advantage of the long player format to stretch out and indulge darker moods and slower tempos, but the core of the record remained rooted in a dancefloor context. In 2015, Mathew fulfilled his long-standing ambition of contributing to Fabric's esteemed mix series. Fabric84 is a recording of his set at the club's 15th birthday, during which he played a number of his classic tracks and unreleased edits. The energy of the occasion and the particular way Mathew performs his material blend perfectly, capturing a singular and very special set on CD. As well as continuing to tour his in-demand solo live show, which is consistently ranked amongst Resident Advisor's top 20, Mathew has recently remixed Paul St. Hilaire + Rhauder, The Martinez Brothers, Seth Troxler, and VCMG (to add to his past work including Moby, Cybotron, The Chemical Brothers, and Nelly Furtado). He released an album with Units and Measurements in 2016, and another as his new alias Freedom Engine entitled “A Box Full Of Magic” in 2019. Eighteen years on from his debut release, 'New Identity', Mathew's sound and reputation as an artist have developed, as you would expect for someone so richly and widely talented.Their RA profile lists Global Underground, Ministry Of Sound, fabric Records, Mute Records and 6 more.Recently at Kater, Club der Visionaere · often with J. “In a genre seemingly obsessed with revisiting the past, Âme look firmly to the future of dance music.”

In a genre seemingly obsessed with revisiting the past, Âme look firmly to the future of dance music. Driven toward continual evolution since they started making tracks in 2001, the German duo of Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer have challenged club-goers’ expectations with their conceptually driven and uniquely visceral music. Now over 15 years into their career together, their deep understanding of the clubbing landscape and each other’s strengths allows Âme to stay innovative and relevant in a swiftly paced genre. And as primary partners of the Innervisions label/collective with Dixon, the pair continue to foster the future of house with carefully selected releases, all-encompassing live events, and even their own boutique shop that solidifies the connection between the artists and their admirers. Wiedemann and Beyer first crossed paths in 2000 at the latter's record shop, Plattentasche, in their hometown of Karlsruhe. Bonding over Chicago house, Detroit techno and much else besides, the duo began producing seminal releases for Sonar Kollektiv in 2003. Eager to not repeat themselves, Âme shattered their established sound in favor of a nimble, compositional approach that birthed their club-conquering single, "Rej", and introduced them on the world stage. One could understand if Âme had just pursued the sound that brought them such acclaim. Yet the pair have never rested on their laurels, continuously folding experimental sounds and their deconstructed take on classical composition into singles and remixes built for delighting dancers. From the waltzing proto-techno of "Fiori" to ruminating deep house cut “Rrose Selavy”, they’ve made music for the mind and body with each release. Âme are also known for crafting emotional anthems, strumming at your heartstrings with their cinematic single “Tatischeff” and their glowing and nearly ubiquitous remix of “Howling”. The pair will further expand their sound on their long-awaited debut album. Âme are just as multifaceted when translated to the live arena: What you’ll hear depends on which configuration of Âme is in your city that night. Kristian is the veteran globe-trotting DJ, while Frank, more a creature of the studio, performs dynamic live sets and these days covers just as many miles. Recently the duo have intertwined their DJ and live sets as Âme II Âme, dissolving the boundaries between these formats to deliver peerless experiences that make the most of their respective abilities. Together and apart they frequent the booths and stages of the world’s top clubs and festivals, carrying the Âme sound far and wide. As the core of Innervisions alongside Dixon, the duo translate their forward-thinking approach across the collective’s various arms. The imprint is known for its rigorous quality control, releasing only a handful of records per year, each encased in sumptuous packaging featuring collaborations with established visual artists. Beyer and Dixon provide the label's A&R direction, inviting select musicians – such as veterans like Laurent Garnier, Agoria, and Marc Houle and rising stars Recondite, Rampa, and Trikk – to accompany family members Henrik Schwarz, Marcus Worgull, Tokyo Black Star, and Culoe De Song. Innervisions even handles its own physical and digital distribution, forgoing traditional channels and the pitfalls accompanying them. The group stays connected with their large fanbase with their online/brick-and-mortar shop, MTN Muting The Noise, whose tightly curated offerings of records, clothes, and other items provides the fullest expression of the Innervision aesthetic. They even take their particular perspective on the road, through both their own Temporary Secretary booking agency and their immersive Lost In A Moment parties thrown in unexpected settings. Refusing to step back from the leading-edge or compromise on their exacting standards, Âme remain at the forefront of electronic music.Their RA profile lists Ostgut Ton, Innervisions and Life and Death.Last at Berghain in Oct · often with Jimi Jules, Julya Karma, Trikk, none of them here that night

“Gerd Janson is running the German label Running Back together with Thorsten Scheu (aka Glance).”

Gerd Janson is running the German label Running Back together with Thorsten Scheu (aka Glance). As many kids who have grown up in the early 90s in the South West of Germany, Gerd Janson was a regular guest at Mannheim’s legendary Milk Club. Although this venue was most popular for putting jungle on the map in Germany, Gerd always used to wait eagerly for the early morning hours when the pace slowed down and US styled house was the ruling sound. In the following years, his deep love for house and disco music was fed in Frankfurt’s Wild Pitch Club by Heiko MSO and Ata. In 1998, Gerd Janson finally had his first DJ residency at Darmstadt’s Café Kesselhaus. Gerd Janson has been serving the hottest house and disco cuts at Frankfurt’s Robert Johnson where he has been hosting the Liquid club nights together with DJ heavyweight Thomas Hammann for the past few years. Without a doubt, Gerd Janson is one of the hottest talents on the German DJ circuit. The word has spread, and so he’s travelling a lot as a DJ now. And when not spinning records he’s known as a prolific music journalist writing for Groove magazine or Spex …, or he’s busy working at the Pentagon Recordstore in his hometown Darmstadt and as part of the staff for the Red Bull Music Academy. Recently, he even started doing shitty remixes for acts like Antena or DJ Designer Imposter and released a compilation of weirdo 80ies jams together with Jazzanova on Sonar Kollektiv. Don’t you like that? Red Bull Music Academy Radio Bio: One of our most treasured Academy team members, Gerd Janson is the quintessential DJ’s DJ, unearthing the gems that get other music lovers hot and excited. The man has his plate full. Whether at the helm of the long-running Liquid club night at Frankfurt’s Robert Johnson with DJ comrade Thomas Hammann, dishing out simmering analog House as co-owner of label Running Back, or penning many a story for Germany’s Spex and Groove magazines, not to mention his scholarship of American studies, he seems to run on more powerful batteries than the rest of us. A Frankfurt native Andreas Baumecker aka nd_baumecker began his DJ career in 1991 in a bar called Romantica, located near the city’s main train station. The venue was run by legendary nightlife impresario Hans Romanov, who also operated Intimbar, where Baumecker would eventually move on to a short time later. It’s there that Ata and Heiko M/S/O from Playhouse took notice, inviting Baumecker to work as a buyer for their record store Delirium and offering him a residency at their seminal WildPitchClub night at the Club Nachtleben. Soon, Baumecker was regularly playing Frankfurt’s numerous electronic music venues (Box, XS, Music Hall, Dorian Grey), before moving on to Heidelberg, where he promoted the club night HD800 together with Dirk Mantei aka D-Man. After a short stop in Mannheim, regular guest DJ sets at Berghain / Panorama Bar predecessor club OstGut in Berlin, and establishing his own label Freundinnen Audio, nd_baumecker moved to the German capital in 2004. There he not only picked up a residency at Panorama Bar inside the newly opened Berghain but also started a job as the club’s in-house booker. Stylistically, Baumecker covers a truly broad spectrum of dance music, refusing to be limited by genre: "A well known choreographer once said: 'Surprise is important.’ I think this approach describes my DJ style best. I’m constantly oscillating between disco, house, techno, electro, broken beats and pop. Ultimately, I’m open to anything – from brute force to tender. I see the dance floor an experimental field: If you manage to really capture the crowd, you can do almost anything with them." Of course, the flow of tracks and resolving musical differences plays a key role in achieving just that, and few DJs are as adept at uniting fundamentally disparate sounds, different keys, different rhythms and different atmospheres. „If something sounds truly new to me they give me a jolt. Also, dance music should have a good portion of funk and, in a way, it needs to sound like disco, whatever the style. I like vocals a lot. In my opinion they are the most important and significant bits you’re taking home after a good night out; they’re the most memorable." Since 2010 nd also produces with Sam Barker as Barker & Baumecker. The duo have released four 12”s and two albums on Ostgut Ton, operating musically between dancefloor and spiraling left field electronics. Finally, November 2018 sees release of nd_baumecker’s Panorama Bar 07 DJ mix.Their RA profile lists Ostgut Ton, Live At Robert Johnson, Groovement, Claqueur Records and 1 more.Recently at Berghain, KREUZWERK · often with Steffi, Efdemin, Roi Perez, none of them here that night

Paramida moved to Berlin in 2010 and has since made an impact to the local club scene with a distinctive and sensualizing approach to music. Her varied sets represent something hopeful, something unusual, something unlikely. A beacon of pleasure and surprise. Blending proto-house to trance, percussive gems with high-energy techno, Italian dream house and irresistible new beat – Paramida is truly committed to digging. The Panorama Bar resident is a confident, talented and occasionally provocative artist in a city whose musical rules are often made to be played by and begging to be broken. While working at OYE Records, she began her life as a DJ between a tireless party scene by night and days immersed in music. In the years since, those same instincts have taken Paramida to far-out places. Her singular thirst for often obscure, always incredible music has lead her to residencies at two of the world's most renowned nightclubs. Already a regular fixture in the booth at Offenbach’s rightfully coveted Robert Johnson, she started her residency at Berghain’s Panorama Bar in 2020. Having impressed on many occasions, whether conducting winningly trippy afternoon excursions through to a number of unpredictable closing sets, extending well beyond sunrise, dancers always share the energy of Paramida’s singular obsession. Outside of dancefloor expectations, Paramida’s recent discoveries and closely-held gems make up the soundtrack of her monthly show on Rinse FM. Paramida’s taste is also the guiding spirit at the heart of Love On The Rocks, the label she founded in 2014. Its catalogue is defined by irresistible, offbeat club anthems and unexpected 12"s adapted from the dustiest corners of outsider dance culture, bringing together elements from nu-disco, trance, acid, deep and progressive house, breaks and ambient music across continents. Many of the unlikely and treasured connections that form the backbone of Love On The Rocks have been established as Paramida has travelled the world, performing at clubs and festivals across Europe as well as Asia, Australia, Central and South America. Devoted to the euphoric potential of nightlife, Paramida is one of dance music’s true characters; a passionate proponent of music, a devoted resident and quite simply, a DJ always worth hearing.Their RA profile lists Ostgut Ton, Love On The Rocks and Dimension Of Being Human.Last at Berghain in Nov · often with Giammarco Orsini, Bobby., Simone de Kunovich, none of them here that night
