Viiaan, producer, record collector, dj and co-founder of Voragine, label and platform under which she promotes the work of artists who work both in the field of experimental electronics, and within the club sound. Although she is unwilling to pin down a specific style to define her work, she is inclined to dark ambient and techno. Her music is a complex and evocative sonic experiment. In her mix-tapes she seamlessly integrates Classic House, Experimental Techno and Drum & Bass, and Breaks. She also draws influence from ambient, industrial and arabic music. Over the last two years her works appeared on compilations like Lowmute and Desembocadura, where she touches on subjects such as migration problems finding inspiration in film, art and literature. She launched her first EP Discromía in 2017 on Maladolescenza and her second EP Shimonoseki at the beginning of January 2020 via SNU. She is currently working on various collaborations and is about to release music on the Uk META MOTO record label, and Extasis Records.Their RA profile lists Voragine, QEONE and Causal Chain.Recently at Bar Neun, Maaya, OHM · often with Retter (DE), Brusco, Rafush, none of them here that night

“As an artist, Batu continually strikes out on his own.”
their own biography
the whole biography
As an artist, Batu continually strikes out on his own. Rightly hailed for his distinctive slant on modernist techno and experimental club music, he’s also prolific beyond the dancefloor. His is a sound marked out by bold shapes and angular expressions, whether strapped to physical rhythms or not. His 2022 debut album Opal took his accomplished sound design into broader spheres of expression, while production work for FKA Twigs saw him approaching pop sensibilities with his non-conformist sonic palette. As well as his production work, Batu’s presence as a DJ on the international club and festival circuit touches on venerated events such as Glastonbury, Dekmantel Festival, Sonar and Unsound. The flexibility in his sound also translates to the intimacy of smaller underground events - an environment which remains inspiring even as he graces some of the biggest stages for electronic music globally. Beyond sonics, his interests expand into visual work too, having produced and directed the video to his own track ‘Solace’ and collaborated on an A/V composition with Harry Butt for his Crack Magazine cover feature - one of multiple cover features he’s been placed on. Taken alongside his music, Batu’s holistic engagement with electronic music culture adds up to a considered spectrum of output and efforts with a shared aim - to push things forward.Their RA profile lists XL Recordings, Hessle Audio, Livity Sound, Timedance and 1 more.Last at RSO.BERLIN in Nov 2025 · often with JASSS, KAVARI, Vigro Deep, none of them here that night
