Raised in Wuerzburg, he made his first experiences in electronic music in Munich, where he played at well-known clubs as Harry Klein, Bahnwaerter Thiel & Bob Beaman. With his diversified style for DJ sets, sometimes of abstract origin, he creates a symbiosis similar to the situation on the dance floor with perfectly balanced tracks. No one can promise in which direction it will continue, crossovers between rolling deephouse and oriental breakbeat are not unusual with this man. After moving to Berlin in 2021, his style direction has changed more and more to ,,IndieDance’’ and ,,DarkDisco’’ and still counts as his main genre today. He loves the variety in his sets, but above all the influence of special elements, always underlined with an addiction for Rhythm & Groove. No matter where this all-rounder stands at the decks, the crowd is dancing. Karsten Schmidt is one of Berlin’s “Wendekinder”, or one of those, who witnessed the wall dividing the city falling, which kick-started the development of the underground electronic music culture in Berlin. This lead to him establishing a connection with electronic music from its early days. Like many others who began their musical journey as frequent visitors of clubs like Bunker, the old Tresor, Walfisch, E-Werk, WMF, he made contact with known and unknown DJs, who deeply influenced him and he began his intensive exploration of electronic music. Even if the popularity of many of those music pioneers and idols he met early on changed in time, his love for the music didn’t, as well as his desire to exceed the limits of 4/4. This is how it came to be, that Karsten Schmidt’s all time favorites belong not only to the Disco, House and Techno classics, but also incorporate musical influences from Ambient to Drum’n’Bass. Along with Giorgio Moroder, Lil’ Louis, Carl Craig, Underground Resistance, Moritz von Oswald, such names as Aphex Twin, Squarepusher or Jean-Michel Jarre belong to his musical background. Given this history, you can expect to hear many nuances and surprises in his sets. He has long been obsessed with the idea of music in all it's variations, beginning his explorations in the field of DJing around 2001. A fan of the extra touch, his DJ sets are streaked with self-recorded samples and live instruments. Neobeo's home is the downtempo chillout scene. After years living with musicians, in 2001 he visited Morocco to study Darbuka percussion and 2009 the Bansuri flute in the north of India. Influenced by his travels around the globe and a wide range of styles including Trip Hop, Ambient and Dub his love affair with electronic underground music has never ceased to grow. Whether mashing an electronic downtempo blues with a 80's synth punk cabaret or a post indie garage ballad with a balkan klezmer ambient symphony... Neobeo will take the crowd on a wild and unexpected ride. In the early 90's he played bass guitar in various thrash metal bands including "Bullfrog Inc." and "Napalm Alm". From 2001 to 2005 he was a part of Leviatan Records and from 2005 to 2009 a part of Mental Arts Records Cologne. Between 2005 and 2007 Neobeo wrote chillout reviews for the international music press "Mushroom Magazine". He worked as a resident DJ 2008, 2011 & 2012 in the Magic Park, la Muela and the Coco Loco Club in Arambol (Goa India) where he first met the Copycow Crew. He plays instruments including didgeridoo, different types of percussion instruments, kalimba, mouth harp, different types of wind instruments, guitar, piano and many more and when life goes back to normal you will find him as: Resident DJ at "Süss. Oaky began DJing in the early 90s with Rap and Hip Hop. With his move to Berlin in 2003, Oaky developed his passion for electronic music.
