“The British producer has been carefully turning techno inside-out for over a decade.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
The British producer has been carefully turning techno inside-out for over a decade. Taking a distinctly post-punk approach to the genre, he has become an integral part of Regis' legendary imprint Downwards. Kerridge has helped to define the label's contemporary sound: broken techno and snarling punk, informed by industrial music and metal. Samuel Kerridge has released seven EPs and five albums (including a collaboration with Dva Damas' Taylor Burch) and his latest, ‘’Kick To Kill’’, has become something of a statement of intent, blossoming into a new label and event series with a focus that broadens beyond techno tracks into full-blown songwriting. Aside from his solo work, he collaborates with OAKE in what he describes as the "power metal techno" duo UF, and has recently started his own guitar band, Death Disco. Kerridge ran the Berlin-based Contort label and party series and curated the legendary Berlin Atonal festival for three years, underlining his credentials as a stalwart figure in the world of experimental, boundary-pushing techno. He's also an accomplished live performer, most recently developing a hybrid live-DJ set that dismantles hundreds of tracks into a sampler to make new music in real time. It's an inventive process that places him in the lineage of iconic and groundbreaking techno acts, while still carrying the flag for the darkest corners of underground electronic music.
Their RA profile lists Horizontal Ground, Blueprint Records, Downwards and Contort Records.

“...OAKE has become established as one of the most distinctive products of the genre, pushing an unforgiving style that’s demanding of listeners, devoid of stock value or predictable moralizing, and which seeks to find and create romance in a greyscale world of brutalist architecture and all-pervasive automation.”

...OAKE has become established as one of the most distinctive products of the genre, pushing an unforgiving style that’s demanding of listeners, devoid of stock value or predictable moralizing, and which seeks to find and create romance in a greyscale world of brutalist architecture and all-pervasive automation. OAKE has released on genre-defining labels such as Downwards, Stroboscopic Artefacts, SNTS, 47, and has seen remix duties on imprints like Horo, Noiztank, and Cluster Node. The result has been a sound that arrests the listener’s consciousness with a rigorous balance of ethereal vocal seduction and concussive rhythm, projecting them into a world where the forces of techno-science and magic find themselves in constant reciprocal conversation. OAKE’s intense, theatrical live shows have captivated club and festival goers all around the world, alongside DJ sets that range from grooming night-setting openers and all-night ambient vinyl sessions, to intense techno closings led by a fearless sound that brings together all kinds of broken styles – always keeping things high-pace, always full-on, and always producing a particular sense of satisfaction on dancefloors across the world. Thank you. ---------------------------------------- Auferstehung has been received as a grand and mysterious work of art, despite working in an industrial lineage, it also "recalls the ethereal beauty of Cocteau Twins or Julee Cruise's work for David Lynch much thanks to Bathseba's otherworldly vocals, resulting in a dense, atmospheric album of real cinematic tension, one that leaves you painting the scenery in your mind (RA review).” “A dense, atmospheric album of real cinematic tension, one that leaves you painting the scenery in your mind. At times it sounds grand and mysterious, at others it evokes a pagan funeral on a windswept cliff. Yes, it is sombre. Yes, it is noisy. But Auferstehung is also rich and rewarding.” -- ResidentAdvisor “The debut LP from this mysterious duo can only be described as astonishing. “Auferstehung” is like a terrifying and intense howl from the core of the deepest winter forest. Cold but warm, this wonderful debut album provides listeners with a truly poetic and emotional dark sound.” -- Secretthirteen "This record is more than just an experimental electronic record, Auferstehung is dark ambient meeting drone, industrial merging with metal, techno running into dream pop -the vocals are a fundamental part of the whole thing, whch is an actual small gem- everything spiced up with a little punk. Oake gave us this little masterpiece, a record you should definitely listen to, love and jealously keep." -- Futurismi
