“Dance, dance otherwise we are lost” the larger than life modern dance choreographer and ballet director Pina Bausch once said. The Cologne based DJ and producer Esther Silex deeply believes in those words of wisdom and took the statement as one of many inspirations behind her debut EP “Pachamama” for Sweden’s finest free spirited electronic music label Studio Barnhus. The EP title refers to the old mother earth goddess of the indigenous people of the Andes, who is an independent deity that has her own creative power to sustain life on planet earth. For Silex she is a divineness that follows her on each and every step as a female with groove in her heart. After a nomadic upbringing all around Europe she started to play records at the tender age of 17 and quickly became an integral part of Cologne’s house and techno scene. Her sets are anything but predictable, with an eclectic selection that somehow weaves seamlessly through techno and house to soul, funk, afro and disco. The three tracks named ‘Hans’, ‘Heinrich’ and ‘Oskar’ of her debut release, reflect this musical diversity and don’t adhere to any formula, whilst remaining entirely and explosively dance floor friendly.Their RA profile lists Neovinyl Recordings and Studio Barnhus.Recently at Kater, Klunkerkranich, Ritter Butzke · often with EXTRA, EXTRAEXTRA, Achilles Moss, none of them here on Friday
“To most electronic music aficionados, Detroit native Kenny Larkin is a man who needs no introduction.”
their own biography
the whole biography
To most electronic music aficionados, Detroit native Kenny Larkin is a man who needs no introduction. His impressive 20-year history of creating arguably some of the most timeless, soulful techno ever created, is unquestionable. But, to the newer generation of club-goers, who aren’t aware of his contributions, 2012 serves as the year to re-establish his position as one of the most valuable forces in dance music today. On his popularity, Larkin states: “I’m more like the artist’s artist. I’ve had very successful electronic artists tell me constantly how much I’ve influenced them, but, to the newer generations of club-goers, my name might not be as well known. I like to say, I’m famous for not being famous!” -KL Since the beginning of his career, Larkin’s profile was never considered massive, nor did he ever serve as the “face of techno.” Yet, the respect and admiration he garners from his fans, electronic musicians, and journalists globally leave little doubt as to his relevance, and influence in a genre that sometimes can be described as lacking in feeling, warmth and musicality. It is that musicality that allowed him to give us an unforgettable collection of original material and remixes, such as the amazingly groovy Inner City “Share My Life.” Many consider this rework one of the best Inner City remixes ever done. Or the equally stunning remix done for Ben Klock’s “OK,” which was voted by website LITTLE WHITE EARBUDS as the 20th top track of 2009. The reviewer comments: ... Larkin defrosts Klockʼs “OK” with swelling warmth and a bass line that wound itself all the way to the horizon. High wire strings gave the remix a sense of drama, while faultless percussive turns saw halting snares, clipped shakers and languid hi-hats entwine themselves through the fabric of the track. Coaxing an animalistic cry from his hardware, Larkin had already succeeded in creating a stunning take on “OK” by the three minute mark, but then topped it all off with a gorgeous piano solo that continued for the remainder of the track, adding a graceful fragility to the feverish pace set by the other elements. Not just one of Larkinʼs finest moments but one of 2009ʼs as well. Stunning! -LWE But by far, one of the most memorable recent remixes, was Larkin’s version of Radioslave’s “Don’t Need A Cure For This.” Released in late 2010, Larkin effortlessly displays his penchant for melody, and his signature jazzy keyboard riffs. The keyboard line, alongside the driving rhythm, resulted in the remix becoming one of the most charted remixes of 2010-11 on popular electronic music websites Resident Advisor, and Beatport. Never to rest on his laurels, in Dec. 2011, Larkin delivered one of the first biggest remixes of 2012. Less jazzy, but no less impressive than his Radioslave remix, Larkin’s expertly crafted version of Inner City’s, “Future,” which he coincidentally co-produced, and co-wrote, quickly climbed to the number one spot on Beatport’s Top 100 Techno Chart, and reached number 16 on their Top 100 overall chart, which combines all genres. Top dj’s from around the globe are currently supportive this massive floor filler. This was one of only a few Detroit titles to ever reach number one on the techno chart, since the creation of Beatport. “Quality, not quantity...” -KL The building blocks of his signature sound are rooted in his early exposure to jazz, funk, and soul, in addition to other more electronic influences. These styles all serve as the backbone of his unique style. This was a key component in the formation of the second wave of Detroit Techno, alongside artists such as Carl Craig. Larkin’s small, but impressive catalog of work of over the years, all displays his ability to chisel out of the often cold hard machines, his own sound that is all heart and soul. Quite simply, this is electronic soul music. After listening to his debut album, released on Warp Records, Azimuth (released 1994), the press commented: “”Azimuth is one of the most imaginative and original techno albums yet.” MUSIC WEEK “A masterpiece. This LP of intelligent Detroit techno is an upcoming classic.” STREETSOUNDS His second album, entitled Metaphor, released in 1995 on R&S, was no less impressive: “This is electronic soul music, full of human feeling and warmth" MixMag “Delightful, pure Detroit-style techno. Melodic, emotive and, like so much great U.S. techno, almost jazz-like in places. Larkin is a man with his finger on the fast forward button of music’s future.” SELECT Street Sound magazine later voted Azimuth as one of the top 50 Techno CD’s of all time. His second album, entitled Metaphor, released in 1995 on R&S, was no less impressive: "A juxtaposition of polished classic Detroit and quirky jazz-inspired innovation. At times very minimal and ambient, other times well informed by house, Kenny's warm dance beats hit in just the right places at just the right time.” I-D -Metaphor was Nominated for “Best Electronic Album of the Year by Keyboard Magazine. -In 1995, Larkin was voted “Best Techno Artist of the Year by local Detroit newspaper, Metro Times. Larkin returned from a break, and re-established himself with his, “Keys, Strings,Tambourines.” The album was released on the legendary Planet e, and was voted by Pop Matters magazine as the ninth best electronic albums of 2008. For their selection of top 20 albums of 2008, well respected website, Resident Advisor, listed Larkin’s album at 18. "Throughout Keys, Strings, Tambourines, Larkin peppers his elegant tech house rhythms with jazzy keyboard fills, strings, tambourines and oddball synth blurts, making for an especially tuneful listen that doesn't skimp on the ass-shaking. Fans of Larkin's classic works will not be disappointed here, nor will those discovering his music for the first time." –Resident Advisor Kenny has an undeniable passion for making music. In addition to his busy global dj schedule, Larkin is currently working on no less than 7 remixes, for a number of noteworthy artists craving the Larkin touch. In addition, he is putting the final touches on his first original release since his KST release on Planet e. Due out in the spring on Cadenza Records.. Larkin’s sound continues to stand the test of time. His unique, musical approach to dance music transcends expectations in balance with meeting his own ambitions and meanwhile pleasing “Detroit-Days” devoted followers all the world over. As his popularity grows, he will no doubt convert new fans to believers and show them that music...REAL music, and Techno can in fact coexist in the same fuzzy place in the heart. Famous for not being famous? Not for long.Their RA profile lists Peacefrog, Warp Records, Planet E, KMS and 3 more.Recently at Haus der Visionäre, Kater
“Her calm, commanding skill as a selector rapidly led to appearances at premier festivals like Fusion, Nation of Gondwana, and Garbicz, and residencies at Berlin's legendary Kater club and the former Station Endlos in Halle.”

Her calm, commanding skill as a selector rapidly led to appearances at premier festivals like Fusion, Nation of Gondwana, and Garbicz, and residencies at Berlin's legendary Kater club and the former Station Endlos in Halle. Since then, she has transcended the boundaries of the Berlin underground, bringing her standout style to the international circuit from Mexico to Kazakhstan. What sets Mila's high-intensity brand of Techno apart is a willingness to embrace unorthodox sounds and explore the beauty in harshness and dissonance. Sharpening her vision and increasing the intensity over the years, she has since gravitated toward more hypnotic, percussion-heavy forms. Channeling raw and restless momentum that holds space without demanding it, her otherworldly soundscapes and unrelenting kinetic energy merge deliberate bluntness with a beautifully refined and eclectic array of sounds. As a DJ, she transports the same directness: from high-energy peak-time appearances to the mesmeric extended closings she became known for, Mila's sets deliver purist energy arcs that encapsulate the non-judgmental freedom and expressiveness of the rave circuit free of nebulous superstructures. From the early days, Mila's sound has been informed by a sense of counterculture and breaking normative boundaries. She draws on risqué sounds, has boldly carved out her niche, and relentlessly pursues her vision despite the antagonism female DJs and producers faced in the late 2000s and still do today. As a DJ, producer, event organizer, former radio host, and stage curator, she pushes the envelope, rejects the status quo, and is driven to take her aesthetic to the limit. Few artists move on the fringe so comfortably, make avant-garde so accessible, or pursue their vision with the same bright-eyed conviction. Mila Stern brings her groove-driven eclecticism to sound systems across the world, challenging paradigms in dance music, and forging a genre of her own.Their RA profile lists Acker Records, Feines Tier, SPRINGSTOFF, Kiosk I.D. and 1 more.Recently at Kater, AMT, Jonny Knüppel · often with EXTRA, Johannes Albert, EXTRAEXTRAEXTRA, none of them here on Friday

their own biography
the whole biography
Born from a Dutch classical singer/pianist player and a Congolese percussionist drummer, it comes as no surprise that the art of playing music literally runs through her veins. Her mostly vinyl sets are 90's UK/US/DE inspired, supported by strong percussion, rhythms and a spiritual touch. Always aiming to engage in a conversation with her crowd, dancing to her sets will release that inner gangster gut feeling in you. Body focused, voluptuous house and techno at its best. Doudou MD strongly believes music has the power to heal and serve as a medicine, which is one of the main reasons music has always been at the core of her life. Following her ears and heart when digging for new records, her bag is constantly being re-filled with a rich variety of music. Although the rhythms and genre of her selection may vary, the constant factor is her unmistakable love for every track she lays on the record player. After spending her early (club)years in Utrecht and Amsterdam, surrounded by her forever cherished Slapfunk and VBX brothers, she spent 5 years in Berlin. Here clubs like Berghain, Hoppetosse and Ohm played a big influence on her musical and personal developments. She takes much of her inspiration from artist like Zip, Roman Flügel, Paul Johnson, as well as Steve O’Sullivan and Mr. G. Back in Amsterdam today, never taking the experience of the dance floor lightly, she fine-tuned her view of the ultimate club experience all over the world. Perfecting this craft is a never ending process, making her upcoming gigs all the more interesting for both crowd and artist.Recently at RSO.BERLIN, Schönwalde-Glien, Grünefeld bei Berlin, Germany, ://about blank · often with a:tok, Irakli, Garage Girls, none of them here on Friday

It was Franca’s school bus driver who brought her in touch with electronic music and made her buy her first vinyl’s. That was in 1996, at the age of ten. Many years and records later, Franca is loved around the globe for her energetic, creative and groove-driven dj-sets. She knows how to conquer the dancefloor, moving with her audience, listening carefully and always staying three records ahead of the crowd. She maintains a constant level of energy, playing on the fringes of house and techno. It’s no wonder why Franca’s fans give her their undivided attention at each and every show, and with one thrust of her arm to the air, you will remember why you love music and why you love to dance all over again. Franca was born in Munich, musically-raised in Cologne and now lives in Amsterdam. She is part of the Feines Tier agency, based in Cologne. Character unlocked: karete bu. Rooted in House groovers, UK-leaning rhythms, and a weakness for records with a bit of dusty history. Her sets are guided by hipswings that occasionally take a left turn when the room is ready for it, sharp timing, and a tendency to let things simmer until they don’t. As a former resident at Leipzig’s Institut fuer Zukunft, she fostered young talent in the DJ rehearsal room and developed a sound that isn’t afraid of spectacle when the moment calls for it. Peter Invasion, DJ and producer from Leipzig, is a key figure in East Germany’s electronic music scene. In 2006, he founded Riotvan, which grew from a raw, underground party series into a respected label in 2012, shaped together with his partner Panthera Krause. What started as a simple idea grew into a force, challenging norms and disrupting the status quo. Splitting his time between Berlin, his second home Mexico City, and Leipzig, Peter also left his mark as a former booker at Leipzig’s iconic club Institut fuer Zukunft and Distillery. Since 2019, he and Gregor Habicht have formed a prolific producer duo and live act, with more than 18 releases on labels like Correspondant, Live At Robert Johnson, Aeon, Roam Recordings, Phisica, and their own Riotvan. “Soon after moving to Berlin in 2015, she came upon a passion for collecting records – starting with hip-hop, funk, soul, jazz and boogie.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Soon after moving to Berlin in 2015, she came upon a passion for collecting records – starting with hip-hop, funk, soul, jazz and boogie. At a certain point, she began to receive some invitations to play her collection out at bars, which was around the same time she began going out to dance in the city’s clubs – her wider investigation of electronic dance music soon followed. So one could say Stella’s DJ practice began with collecting, then gained dimension as a selector and dancer, and this is audible in her sound – she plays sets that stoke a warmth in the body and keep it lit, sequences of deep-dug cuts that are mixed with a tactile intuition and trust in the track that only a vinyl DJ could have. Over the years, Stella has become a signature member of Berlin’s club community, enacting an old-school ethic of the DJ as a community-driven role. Today she is well-known for her wide knowledge of classic, groove-driven house and disco, as well as deep dubs and acid, but her rise as a DJ came hand-in-hand with booking and curating. After a number of years organising parties at the DIY venue Kake Stella founded Body Language with Camilla Rae and Caitlin Russell in 2021. Gaining a committed crowd over the last years, Body Language has hosted a vibrant array of international and local DJs. Rather than needing to brand the party with markers of identity, Stella emphasises the core ethic of the party being its openness – the function encourages a range of sounds and styles (one can hear everything from clever, groovy house and techno to classic Chicago cuts to RnB-laced high-NRG in recorded sets on SoundCloud) and so welcomes a heterogenous crowd. In this way, Body Language is part of a shift into a new line of queer parties in Berlin – “queer” precisely because diversity runs through its bookings, its sound systems, its dancefloors, and isn’t just a catchword printed on a statement. Although Stella’s original plans to become a singer were quickly overtaken by the drive to play out her record collection, 2022 saw the release of Détends-Toi and the formation of Stella and the Longos, a band and collaborative project with DJ and musician Ed Longo. Released on Cosmic Records, the album is a sensual tribute to 80s Zouk and Boogie, with Stella’s silky, sultry vocals taking the fore. Much like her DJ-practice, the project pays loving homage to sounds of the past while spinning them into the present, never simply lapsing into nostalgia. The 6-piece band has toured extensively over the last years, which has provided a counterpoint to Stella’s increasingly international DJ gigs – some notable bookings include Nowadays, De School, Gay Haze and a stint of sets in China last year. Closer to home, she has been a resident at Cocktail D’Amore since its heyday years at Griessmühle and played at Panorama Bar for the first residency night programmed by Refuge Worldwide, where she also hosts the Breakfast Show once a month. On the airwaves, in Berlin or abroad, a DJ-set or studio recording or upcoming edition of Body Language – whatever it may be, make sure to catch the singular warmth and deeply cultivated love of music Stella brings to the table. There’s nothing quite like it.Their RA profile lists Cosmic Romance.Recently at ZENNER, OHM, Tresor / Globus · often with TRESOR, GLOBUS, Daniel Bell, none of them here on Friday

their own biography
the whole biography
UFO Space is the alias of Kev Mored, DJ, producer and label founder, originally from the outskirts of Barcelona and currently based in Berlin. His relationship with electronic music began the way it does for many kids from small towns near big cities — radio programmes, compilation CDs bought on solo trips into Barcelona, and the open-air parties at La Mar Bella beach, where people brought their own sound systems and danced through summer afternoons. By eighteen he was a regular in Barcelona's clubs. That same year, a trip to Ibiza to see Carl Cox and Laurent Garnier play Space on a Tuesday night — specifically, Garnier closing with The Man With The Red Face — left no room for doubt. He began DJing and producing through a collective in Barcelona, where a shared studio and a circle of obsessive friends became the foundation for Six Recording, his first label. Over the following years he worked his way through the city's rooms — Razzmatazz, Florida 135 and beyond — accumulating experience and releasing music. In 2015 he took part in Sónar+D under the umbrella of Solar Distance, UNER's label. Three years later he co-founded Vondreib, a label and party collective that brought names like Shaun Reeves and Phil Kieran to Barcelona. In 2020 he moved to Berlin. With over a decade of experience behind him, in 2023 he launched UFO Space — a project built on a deliberate decision to work without genre constraints and without compromise. The name is intentional: a space of his own, with his own rules. SPC Discs, the vinyl label he founded alongside the project, has released three EPs to date and hosted events at OYE Records and HÖR Berlin. Music from the catalogue has been supported by Eris Drew, Octo Octa, Laurent Garnier, Sven Väth, John Talabot, Marie Montexier, Sally C, Cromby and Gerd Janson. His music is a regular fixture at Panorama Bar.Recently at Kater

Mal Deep, mal Rave, im Großen und Ganzen Abstrakt, aber doch Minimal treibend.“francesca is a Berlin based DJ with a soft spot for cheeky, uplifting house music.”

I’ve always experienced electronic music and especially the scene behind it as an opportunity to enjoy a safe space while dancing and meeting likeminded people, allowing me to forget about the everyday hassle and to get lost in magical moments, be it night or day. So, when COVID hit the breaks on being a passionate dancer on these occasions, I felt the need to at least keep the sound and spirit in my life, which finally put me behind the decks. What I didn’t expect was how much I would love to play these uplifting, harmonic and at times darker tunes with deep baselines and how many opportunities it would open up for new input and exchange with other music-lovers. Never in my wildest dreams had I imagined to be invited to so many cities in Europe, and even recently to Jordan, and to be able to share my favourite tunes in places, I’ve always loved and/ or wanted to visit.Their RA profile lists Afterhour Sounds.Recently at Renate, gART.n, Cassiopeia · often with Francesca, Horst Haller, Dydaa Forne, none of them here on Friday
