Síoda Rua is an Irish DJ deeply connected to music since childhood. Coming from a music-loving family, she grew up playing the Irish flute before discovering piano and guitar during her teenage years. Her encounter with electronic music at the age of 14 marked a turning point, awakening in her a fascination for this rich and infinite sound universe. Specializing in the art of mixing vinyl, she delivers sets that navigate between house and techno, adapting to the atmosphere and energy of each event. Although she loves exploring a wide variety of genres, she is particularly drawn to deep sounds: liquid textures, mesmerizing atmospheres, minimalist percussion, and rhythmic patterns. Her performances transform into captivating sonic journeys where every detail matters. Temple Rat’s music is more than just a sequence of rhythms; it is a meticulously crafted world defined by cinematic depth and organic, emotionally driven storytelling. Based in Berlin, the project is the alias of Yuxin Mei, a Chinese composer and multi-instrumentalist who has spent years honing a sound that bridges the gap between ancient Eastern textures and the raw intensity of contemporary electronic music. In her artistic practice, Mei explores the relationship between space, environment, and sound. While the Erhu remains a central pillar of her work, her productions weave a rich tapestry of Chinese woodwinds, percussion, and traditional flutes. By utilising self-built sound-design tools and intricate field recordings, she crafts a distinctive sonic identity that leans on deep listening and experimental spatial-audio techniques. This philosophy extends beyond the club into the world of interactive installations and cross-cultural curation, notably through her collectives “Er Ting Ba Fang” (耳聽八方) and “Jia La.” Since her acclaimed EP Composition of Air on Siamese Twins Records, Temple Rat’s evolution has been marked by a constant desire to push boundaries. Her work has received international praise for its ability to balance traditional delicacy with modern industrial grit, leading her to iconic clubs including Berghain, Macadam and RSO. Sleeptwtich sound is one for the nerds: blending Old School Electro, Breakbeat, Detroit Techno, and ~dreamy robotic vibes~ She is part of two Berlin's local collectives —@xcuseu.kollektiv and @crush.kollektiv — throwing events, hosting workshops, running DJ sessions, and creating spaces that spotlight female and queer communities. As being a full time creative, she loves to bring her Florist profession to the dancefloor: creating different set designs in Berlin's venues like Watergate, Lighthouse Plötzensee (Fandango), OXI - and having her first floral exhibition at Sameheads in spring 2025.
