In 2004 her debut album “Blondie” became a mega success. From De:Bug to the New York Times, the critics were over the moon. It was to take six long years until the next album. Six years filled with brilliant co-operations, expressive remixes (such as “Grand Canyon” for Tracey Thorn from Everything But The Girl – released on her compilation CD “Adaptations – Mixtape #1” on Kompakt), and various singles. In addition, she has been keeping the “Cologne style” flag flying with the magnificent group “Cologne Tape” since 2009. Her legendary live shows took her once around the world and back again before her new album “Meine zarten Pfoten” was released on DJ Koze’s label Pampa Records in 2011. Hamburg concert hall tycoon and star author Tino Hanekamp writes: “In the broadest sense of the word, it’s pop. Caleesi has developed her very own signature sound that has been shaped by influences of Urban Cosmonaut’s musical diversity, ranging from world music to downtempo deep house. But her influences reach far further and also include artists like Nicolas Jaar, Mira, Lauryn Hill and many more. Caleesi is an electronic music artist based in Berlin. Her music is diverse in style yet consistent in vibe: with an ear for melancholia that goes beyond genre or tempo, she often combines deep basslines with an emotional touch. Her sets tend to build up tension slowly, gradually releasing a flow that travels through warm synth lines into different moods and atmospheres. Coming from a diverse music background, Gina´s passion has always been the dancefloor. As a passionate dancer before she started DJing in Berlin, then immersed herself in growing a loyal wide audience and keeping listeners on many sweet places engaged with her aesthetic of the slower side of underground dance music. Gina is telling melodic deep stories and her devotion to the music speaks through her captivating and powerful sets. - But it´s all about the groove, when she’s dropping some low-tempo-deep-house-joints. After 10 years in Germany's capital, Gina moved to her new adopted city Leipzig to start a club project with two of her best friends - ost:end is the lived utopia of many different cultural workers, curators, producers and DJ´s. What started as an idea for a club is now a record label, a booking agency and an event collective with an incredible output.
