Since throwing her first party in 2015 and putting out her stellar debut EP, Electrical Encounters, on Peach Discs two years later, the Xi’an, China-born and Toronto, Canada- based Ciel has blazed a path as one of the hardest-working and most innovative artists in electronic music. Solo production highlights since Electrical Encounters include Hundred Flowers on Coastal Haze, Why Me? on Ghostly’s Spectral Sound, Orlando on !K7 Records, Ecstatic Editions vol. 1, the premiere release on Eris Drew’s vinyl-only label, and her pièce de résistance; the 2023 debut album Homesick, which she toured live internationally in 2024. Collaboratively, Ciel’s efforts are just as impressive, from the intricate, delicate Free EP with Kilig to the subterranean, propulsive Lunagenesis with Priori as Loopchasers. Excursions in bass and breaks with Dan Only as Cloudsteppers and murky, doofy cuts with CCL (on Tilda’s Goat Stare) and D.Tiffany (as Psychedelic Budz) further demonstrate Ciel’s versatility and seemingly boundless imagination, as do inventive remixes for the likes of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Jacques Greene, Seb Wildblood, Off the Meds and Adam Pits. An adventurous selector adept at stitching together disparate styles and genres, Ciel has played at some of the world’s most celebrated venues including fabric, Robert Johnson, De School, Hot Mass, Smartbar, Berghain Panorama Bar and Nowadays, and at beloved festivals such as Draaimolen, Dimensions, Movement Detroit and MUTEK. A typical DJ set might move through dreamy downtempo, wiggly tech house, psychedelic techno, UK bass, slamming speed garage, and hardgroove to work through a diverse range of dancefloors and moods, from deep and trippy to unabashedly euphoric. Defined by a technically-deft skill set (Resident Advisor recently proclaimed: “Now this is how you mix techno”) Rachel Noon is a fearless and uncompromising presence both behind the decks and on the dancefloor. Despite her rising European acclaim and recent appointment as resident DJ of Pornceptual, Noon attributes her significant career strides to her hometown of NYC and to Brooklyn's inspiring underground queer scene. Active as both artist and raver there, she successfully fostered a vibrant community of friends and like-minded peers. This community gave rise to her roaming event series LARGE MARGE which has since expanded internationally, with exciting plans ahead. Now from her home-turf Berlin, Noon has co-founded the intimate queer party series mp3, which has rapidly gained popularity in just two short years. If you ask Noon, her most exciting artistic initiative is currently going down inside the studio; she and her friend Steffen Dix have teamed up to form Self Care Starter Pack (or simply, SCSP), a production and live performance duo. Together they have cultivated a process-driven practice whose work takes a nose-dive towards hardware-only experimentation and the integration of optics into performance. In 2022 he released his second EP Angel Hours to high acclaim. Angel Hours rise felt like it was imminent from the first listen, with contributions from Noa (Voice Actor/Stroom) and 3NDLES5 (Low Life). Mike’s production across the release feels akin to 90’s artists like I:Cube, Thievery Corporation or certain Weatherall moments. The heavenly references are well deserved with multiple moments on the release feeling truly divine, whilst others take a low-lit and alluring feel. Mike Midnight feels singular in the Australian music landscape. Angel Hours continues the lineage of Australian music breaking through to international recognition with the release becoming a mainstay on NTS Radio, breakfast show host Flo Dill dubbing it “music that when listened to at night makes you feel unstoppable.” His recent DJ sets at Globus, Miscellania and on The Lot Radio showcase his unique skills as a DJ. emkay, aka Maria Korkeila, is a Finnish DJ, producer and vocalist tracing the sensual edges of house, progressive, breaks and dub-laced electronics. Her sound is femme-forward, trippy, sassy and bouncy~ balancing a playful pulse with deeper undercurrents. From upbeat, lip-glossed rollers to moody downtempo excursions, emkay teases the dancefloor with something intimate and slightly unhinged, where breathy bedroom vocals drift through sultry basslines and chrome-tinted percussion. Beyond the club, emkay is also known as one third of downtempo trip-pop outfit trickpony, alongside Roza Terenzi and Mike Midnight. Specialising in stripped, subbed and dubbed new age pop collages– the trio released their first EP “Pillow Talk” in 2024, follow recently by “24/7 Heaven”, both released on Step Ball Chain.
