KAPOTE aka Mathias Modica, DJ, music researcher, keyboarrd wizzard, music producer and creative mind behind Toy Tonics records. The indie disco, funk house and organic dance music label from Berlin, that releases the music of key artists such as Coeo, Cody Currie, Sam Ruffillo and is also known for big party happenings around Europe (The Toy Tonics Jams) and cutting edge T shirt designs. Before creating Toy Tonics (with two friends) Modica used to make music under the name of MUNK und run Gomma records (2000 - 2015). Gomma was the label that defined the Y2K Indie dance sound along imprints like DFA and Output records. Spread across Berlin and London he's become an integral part of both cities’ scenes in recent years with releases and remixes for the likes of Toy Tonics, Aus Music, Rhythm Section and Kitsuné Musique. 2024 has seen Arpy Brown take his joyful, high energy sets that combine club music’s intensity with the charm and intricacy of none-electronic, organic music, to stages across mainland Europe, the UK and as far as Australia and New Zealand. Taking a communal approach to music making, Robin co-founded Athlete Whippet together with long-term friend and collaborator Aviram Barath, who he co-ran artist collective and record label squareglass with at the time. In line with this ethos, he's also been hosting intimate nights with DJs from far across the electronic music ecosystem since 2019. Shaped by years of going to the source—from NYC, Chicago and Detroit to Tokyo and other cities across Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia—immersing himself in underground scenes, learning directly from key figures and local communities, and performing on storied dance floors along the way, he has developed an authentic voice as a multidisciplinary artist on and off the floor. As a DJ, he crafts sets that are heavily informed by his background as a dancer: playful and daring, shifting in rhythm and pace across genres while being deeply rooted in queer lineages of house and club culture. An active member of the ballroom, whacking and house dance scenes, he draws on years of shared practice to give their movements and stories space at the center of the night, where they are lived rather than referenced. Mankind discovered rhythm through the heartbeat. Amin Fallaha owns the rhythmic identity like no one else. No matter the time or space - under all circumstances – his set pulls you in.
