There are DJs, and then there are “DJ’s DJs”—the influential jocks who break tunes, unearth obscure must-haves, spark off new trends, and breathe new life into the artform at every opportunity. Marc Schneider has been the embodiment of the latter for over two decades. The Hamburg native began amassing his personal collection of DJ weapons amid the heyday of ‘90s German raves, with his early appearances feeding the folklore of legendary parties such as Love Parade and the original Tresor club. As the longtime gatekeeper for music distributor Word and Sound, he has overseen virtually every worthwhile piece of vinyl to enter the country. He continues to apply his tastemaker status and veteran knowledge in the DJ booth through regular invitations to Panorama Bar (Berlin), Fabric (London), Eleven (Tokyo), Rex Club (Paris), The Bunker (NYC), Bassani (Tbisili), Smart Bar (Chicago), Culture Box (Copenhagen), Watergate (Berlin), Electric Pickle (Miami). That’s not to mention his long-running affiliation with Hamburg’s PAL and the Golden Pudel Club, as well as the infamous annual event Fusion Festival. With his sporadic yet highly-valued releases and remixes for labels like Circus Company, Silver Network, New Kanada and Word and Sound’s inhouse imprint Was Not Was, Marc has endeared himself to record-buying heads over a number of years. Similarly, it was little surprise for those in the know to learn that Marc had been secretly at the helm of the formerly anonymous cult label Story, the unassuming vinyl-only imprint of quality deep cuts that has boasted the likes of Anton Zap, Cottam and XDB on its roster since 2008. Hailing from the deep swamplands of Southeast Finland, it’s no surprise Annina’s exposure to electronic music was found while traveling elsewhere - in fact, it was becoming involved in the Sydney scene which spawned her love for dance music, and ultimately inspired her move to Berlin in 2018. It was there she became focused on her groovy but upfront sound and met like-minded music heads eventually co-founding the minimal collective Zapped Berlin in 2021. Marc is a producer and DJ born and raised in Berlin. He started playing drums when he was five and practiced for 8 years while playing in a percussion band. As a teenager he discovered producing music with the computer and started to make his first hip hop beats. Later in 2009 he was Introduced to house music and found his passion right away. His productions ranges from classic house to deep house, from breakbeat to ambient or electronica. Flor Coto is an Argentine artist based in Berlin, focused on electronic music. loves_kills (Liubov Sukhodolska) is a Ukrainian DJ and selector, born and raised in Odesa and currently based in Berlin. After the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in spring 2022, she rebooted her DJ career in exile, using music as both resistance and release. Known for her eclectic taste and infectious energy, loves_kills blends the grooves of 70s–80s disco, funk, italo, and pop with house classics, 90s gems, and shimmering cuts from the modern nu-disco spectrum. A dedicated digger and pop culture nerd at heart, her sets are playful, soulful, and full of feel-good moments that connect past and present dancefloor traditions. Through the past years, has made numerous appearances at many clubs in the German capital, such as Sisyphos, Paloma, Renate, Aeden, Prince Charles, Schwuz etc. Since summer 2022 runs her own Refuge Worldwide radio residency with a What's Ur Pleasure? show, where she shares not only her own musical discoveries but also invites different DJs.
