Biography Absolute Body Control was formed in the early 1980’s. Achieving an underground cult following, they took their influence from bands such as Suicide, D.A.F, and the UK electronic scene. 4 years later, after releasing a 7 inch and several tapes, the band members all went their separate ways, with Dirk Ivens and Eric Van Wonterghem finding successes in other influential acts such as The Klinik, Dive,... See More Description Absolute Body Control is an electronic (minimal wave/synthpop) project started in 1980 It is notable as the first significant project of musicians Dirk Ivens and Eric Van Wonterghem. History Having previously played in minor punk and new wave bands, Dirk formed Absolute Body Control as a project more influenced by the prototype synthpop sound being produced by the likes of Suicide and D.A.F. The project originally feature Marc De Jonghe (synths) and Veerle De Schepper (backing vocals), though Mark was replaced in 1981 by Eric Van Wonterghem. The project released a number of cassettes, but only one 7" (Is There An Exit?) and no studio albums during its brief lifespan. Dirk and Eric later joined forces with Marc Verhaeghen in The Klinik. and they would later collaborate on other projects most notably Sonar and also having their solo projects Dive and Monolith. A compilation of Absolute Body Control tracks entitled 'Eat This' was eventually released in 1993 (VUZ records) A more comprehensive 2CD compilation 'Lost/Found' was issued in 2005. A 5LP box set of all their cassette releases followed in 2007.(Vinyl on Demand) Dirk and Eric also took the project back on stage in 2006 and continue to tour with the project. In 2007, after 22 years on hold, Absolute Body Control re-formed and released Wind[Re]Wind, which contains newly recorded versions of their best tracks so far next to the brand new EP "Never seen", containing a remix by The Horrorist. A new album came out in 2010 named Shattered Illusion & Sorrow. In 2011 came the album Mindless Intrusion & Surrender No Resistance with remix by the famous French MIllimetric. (Daft / Sleepless Records) 2013 saw the project remix tracks by post-punk/electro-wave bans Section 25, namely "Microgroove" on the "Invicta Max" 10" and "Beating Heart" on the 2013 remix CD "Eigengrau". Mercúrio Gótico is a solo project of Luana Moura. A Brazilian Berlin based artist which explores Synthesizers, and a spooky theremin to create dark wave, dark synth and dark ambient with some synth-pop touch now and then. Originally from the South-West of France and rooted in the metal scene, LAVION quickly developed strong stage and technical experience, touring across Europe, working in studios, producing music videos and handling production within his band DOJ. In 2016, he shifted toward electronic music. After starting out in House, he shaped a distinctive identity blending Italo, Trance, EBM and New Beat, mixing rock energy with an instinctive approach to live hardware performance. Passionate about vintage synthesizers and drum machines, LAVION is now a DJ, producer and live performer, moving between euphoria, nostalgia and the tension of the dancefloor. In 2022, he released his first record on the Ritmo Fatale record with Universo Parallelo, a key collaboration whose artistic direction strongly resonates with his own. Through singles such as Into The Stars and Liberate, as well as during the collective’s showcases, he continues to assert a strong and singular identity. Driven by the desire to collaborate with labels that perfectly align with his universe, he followed this momentum with the release of the EP DECORPORATION on Ulla Record. This longer format allowed him to explore more nuances and variations. Between these different releases, LAVION crafts evolving DJ sets and live performances, conceived as a true sonic journey for the audience, balancing the euphoric energy of Trance and Italo with the more underground atmospheres of EBM and New Beat. This artistic evolution is also reflected on stage: in 2025, he multiplied performances in clubs and festivals in Berlin, Barcelona, Paris and across France, notably at the Rex Club, Crak Bellmer and Ombra Festival.
