Thomas Schumacher was eleven years old when Depeche Mode released Construction Time Again. "I'll never forget sitting at home, listening to the album in my headphones, trying to figure out how they made those sounds." Thirty-four years later, Thomas Schumacher still burns with curiosity. The Berlin-based DJ and producer makes light of his status as one of the most enduring, versatile artists in electronic music. "What I love about Techno is that it demands that you question yourself, reinvent yourself." Thomas Schumacher is always pushing his own boundaries. "The art of being relevant," he says, "Is to forget what you know.” In his early days as an artist, he had to learn how to physically create the sounds he heard in his head. Now, as a virtuoso, the challenge is to use his breadth and depth of musical knowledge to convey profound emotion. "Techno is not just a tool to make people dance," he says. "It is a very personal, intimate way of expressing myself." This intimacy fuels the unique vibe of a Thomas Schumacher DJ set. He compares himself to the captain of a ship. “I purposely steer my sets into rough waters. I want to help people get out of their heads and into their bodies. I create a safe space for people to lose their minds, in the best possible way. They know they don't need to worry or be afraid, because I’ve got them. I know what I'm doing. They can let go and just be." When not guiding clubbers through seas of sound, Schumacher reaches them via his productions on his label Electric Ballroom, and his weekly NOW podcast. NOW is a showcase for his low-key charm and impeccable ear for a great tune. And, like his DJ sets, the podcast is a forum for his studio output including the recent Natural Rhythm EPs on Noir. The more you do, the more there is to explore, the more opportunities to invent, connect, and imagine. "I am always the one to change it up," Thomas Schumacher grins. "My ongoing ambition is to connect to the crowd, year after year. It's what lights me up." HAITO GÖPFRICH Haito – the man of innumerable faces and the Doctor Mabuse of German dance-floors. He got hooked by the eclectic early DJ-work of Hans Nieswandt and Eric D. Clark, well-trained on Berlin’s Loveparade vehicles, pressed into vinyl by most different labels such as Boxer, get Physical, Kickboxer, Malatoid, Spagat, Low Spirit or Acker Record to name a few... Well, this is our hero, up to every trick, well-versed producer and Vinyl-DJ. And that’s why Haito keeps his lines open all the time, gathers input like other people stamps and nonchalantly combines seemingly incoherent sounds. „Musik ist wie mein Tagebuch" Hätte unsere geschätzte Erde eine Umlaufbahn und Neigung die den subjektiven Tag um einiges verlängert, wäre René Bourgeois einer der ersten um die zur Verfügung stehende Zeit sich zu nutze zu machen. Der in Dresden geborene Musikästhet ist umtriebig wie kaum ein anderer und eines steht fest, seine Gene stammen nicht von diesem Sonnensystem. Schon als blutjunger Teenager lauschte er den Geheimnissen von 16Bit, Art of Noise, Off oder Yello nach. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt befand sich René bereits im Kosmos der Hauptstadt. Der Umzug nach Chaos-City, wie viele die Hauptstadt zu nennen Wissen, war ausschlaggebend für seine kommende musikalische Entwicklung. Wäre da nicht seine einstigste Schwester im gediegenen Elternhaus, wäre er heute womöglich Tierpsychologe für verwahrloste Hunde mit pinkfarbenen Fellansätzen. Doch es sollte anders kommen. Von seiner Schwester unterstützt, sammelte der Ostberliner seine Vorlieben auf Kassette und Schallplatte. Seiner Zeit waren diese beiden Arten Luxusgüter im grauen Sozialismus. So sammelte er akribisch Musik die seine Synapsen stimulierten und lauschte den kultivierten Klängen der Radiosender. Mit seinem Schulfreund Daniel Steinberg, eröffneten beide ein Schulradio, wo die gesammelten Werke zum Einsatz kamen. Wen wundert es da, dass selbst Daniel Steinberg, auch bekannt als Harry Axt, eine Ruhmreiche DJ-Karriere in die Wiege gelegt wurde. Als später die große Wiedervereinigung eingeläutet wurde, zog es René in die ersten Berliner Clubstätten. Schon kurze Zeit später, als der Kulturschock Techno ausgerufen wurde, fand auch er sich rasch hinter den Plattentellern wieder. In dieser Zeit lernte er neue Freunde schätzen. Sascha Braemer-Hirtenfellner ist einer von diesen Kreativ-Produzenten die er Mitte der 90er als Freund kennen lernte. Erste gemeinsame Projekte wurden aus dem Boden gestampft, gemeinsame Musikproduktionen folgten schnell. Leidenschaftlich verfolgte René Bourgeois seine Musik bis zum Jahre 2003, wo sich ein weiters Kapitel öffnen sollte. Weiter an der Tagesordnung standen Videoproduktionen und selbst als Kameramann erntete sein Geist große Anerkennung. Ende 2008 landete er seinen bis dahin wohl größten Erfolg als Produzent. Seine Label-Familie heißt SUPDUB und sein Erfolgs-Titel trägt den Namen „4myRecordz“. Mit diesem Wurf kam sein großer internationaler Durchbruch auf der Showbühne, wo er selbst als DJ immer bestrebt ist mehr als 100 % zu geben und seine Leidenschaft und Dankbarkeit zum Ausdruck gibt. Was heute hinter ihn liegt, sind mehr als 20 Jahre Fanatismus zur elektronischen Musik und ein Tagebuch mit unendlich vielen Kapiteln. Born in 2000 in the suburbs of Seoul in South Korea, EVE’s first contact with music was at 3 by learning piano. After moving to Japan at 7, she won several national competitions as a saxophonist from the age of 10. She has a quite wide musical taste range by listening to diverse genres, mainly Rock and Jazz. By her 20’s she became addicted to dance music, she discovered the charm of the dark and hypnotic sounds of synthesizers. She then delved wide range of electronic music and found a way to express her deep and dark inner self from her delicate fingertips. After starting to DJ Techno and Hardtechno in 2021, she made her debut as a DJ at FUJI Rock Festival 2022 which is one of the biggest festivals in Japan. She starts her career as a producer in 2022. 2022 marks the year of ASK:ME’s 30th stage anniversary! - 30 Years Ago – When a hobby at age 15 turned into a devotion for life When ASK:ME started working behind the bar in a nightclub at the fresh age of 15 (yes, 15! – seriously), it did not take long for him to also start spinning his first records. One of his most magical moments to date! A moment, which was succeeded by many more unforgettable memories in his hometown Munich, GER: - Residencies at the legendary Fat Fugo or Mandarin Lounge - Regulars at the reputable Pulverturm - Epic celebrations at fabulous Ultraschall, Parkcafe, KW The early years – from hosting events to touring internationally... During his time at Partysan he hosted events, such as Rave On Snow, Thai Break, and Rave On Cruise. Andree Wischnewki was born in Berlin. Since more than ten years he has been very successfully working as a DJ in different clubs. As soloist or as partner in different projects he always impresses his audience and the organizers. In 2011 he had his break through as producer of the project "Kanzler & Wischnewski". He is also very well known as the author of many publications. Since 2012 he is aiming at a career as producer. His music combines dry, clear and well-structured “Minimal” with a host of styles above and beyond the beaten path. A buzzy Housegroove bass dub here – a jazzy trumpet sample pops up over there! Sensoned with touch of oriental flavour at times, it boils down to a truly global recipe. In his DJ-sets he merges melancholic melodies with bass kick-lines and vocals. That is how he creates his very own stories thereby sending his audience on a special journey across the world of electronic music. Der gebürtige Berliner, Andree Wischnewski, ist nun mehr seit über 10 Jahren in der Clubszene als DJ aktiv und erfolgreich. Ob Solo oder mit verschiedenen Projekten verschaffte er sich einen bleibenden Eindruck bei seinem Publikum und diversen Veranstaltern. So schaffte er 2011 seinen Durchbruch mit dem Projekt „Kanzler & Wischnewski“ auch auf der Produzenten Ebene und konnte mit mehreren Veröffentlichungen von sich reden machen. Biography: Køpflos, real name Johann Hladik, is a German techno DJ and music producer. Starting with small raves in Brandenburg, he nowadays plays in bigger Berlin underground clubs such as Mbia at Alexanderplatz. He started to live out his preference and enthusiasm for electronic music at an early age and began producing his first tracks as a teenager. Inspired by well-known artists like Klangkuenstler and Kobosil, his music style evolved from soft techhouse to hardtechno. His genre can be compared to a mixture of reverse bass or early hardstyle and industrial techno. As a central element one also perceives the hardstyle typical bassline. This colorful mix provides in its own way for ambience and dance stimulating mood. Recorded in Berlin rave collectives, he later came to more famous clubs. Also in other places or cities like Koblenz, Potsdam or Trebbin he provided excitement and unique live performances. He gained popularity through his track "Party People" from the ep "Wütend Werden", as well as numerous edits of well-known hits of the early 2000s. In mid-2023, he subsequently produced a new "Hard Rave Edit" from the well-known duo Ace of Base with "Beautiful Life" in collaboration with the well-known Cologne techno DJ and producer AMBAM.
