Ark Welders Guild is the audio-visual performance and recording project of singer and art curator Letizia Trussi and musician Scott Monteith, best known by his stage name Deadbeat.
The duo weave a complex web of poly-rhythmic audio-visual psychedelia spanning diverse genres and tempos. Expect abstract ambient scapes, sidewinder bass accompanied by pioneering visual nourishment.
Monty Luke joins to present his Mandingo Sound System project. Known for his deep, eclectic selections, warm grooves, and energy behind the decks, Monty crafts sets that move effortlessly between classic influences and forward-thinking sounds.
For this appearance at OHM, Monty will be exploring the more dub-facing side of his repertoire, a thread that already runs deep throughout his productions and DJ sets. This facet of his sound is perhaps best exemplified by his recent work on Radio Slave’s Rekids imprint, where his album Nightdubbing earned acclaim for its richly textured, dubwise productions.
Opening the night will be a collaboration between UTA & Isabassi. The merging of UTA’s huge knowledge & contributions to the underground in Berlin and beyond, paired with Isabassi’s experimental approach to sound collaging, re-sampling, granular synthesis, textured sound design, and intricate drum programming, promises an opening set not to miss.
Closing out affairs will be KƏYK curator Escapverte, joined by the founder of the London deep techno / ambient party Rebloom, JJ. Together the pair plan to present a warm, cleansing, pumping closing set to send the listener out into a blissful summers morning.
Throughout the night Ground Tactics will be present on the floor, offering light body activations with tunings forks, for anyone who needs a grounding

Who they are

the whole biography
Scott Monteith is a musician, sound artist and music technology educator best known for his work under the stage name Deadbeat. Having launched his production career at the turn of the millennium, the Canadian-born, Berlin-based producer's 22 Deadbeat albums, three-dozen singles, and countless remixes and collaborations represent one of the most prolific and consistently rewarding catalogues in the modern electronic music canon. The city of Montreal played an outsized role in the sonic depths of his early works. Moving to the city in 1998, he secured a day job with local music software developer Applied Acoustics Systems and spent the late hours pursuing his own creative endeavours. In the spring of 2006, Monteith would make the move to Berlin. The move proved fruitful as his creative focus shifted from the studio to the stage, resulting in performance invitations from the most respected clubs and festivals the world over. As a DJ, Monteith is a dub archivist second to none, with a collection spanning the genre's early Jamaican roots, through the “steppers” versions of the 80s and 90s championed in the UK and Europe, to the current crop of global producers pushing the dub sounds into previously unheard directions and widely divergent rhythmic structures. This was most clearly highlighted with the release of his critically acclaimed DJ mix Radio Rothko in 2010, rated by various publications as one of the most genre-defining mix CDs of all time, highlighting both the founders and most progressive young producers of the Dub Techno sound at the time. In addition to his production and performance activities, his abilities as an educational speaker and workshop leader have been regularly called upon by the world-renowned Red Bull Music Academy, as well as technology leaders such as Microsoft, Ableton, and Native Instruments among others. A tireless innovator of vast creative vision, 20-plus years on, Monteith's restless creative spirit shows no signs of being quieted for many years to come.Their RA profile lists Wagon Repair, ~scape, Cynosure Recordings, Musique Risquée and 6 more.Recently at MaHalla, Kater, OHM · often with Chica Paula, Max Loderbauer, Live Band featuring, none of them here that night

I’m a music producer, DJ and the founder of my label, Black Catalogue. My passion for all facets of dance music have made me one of the most versatile DJ’s you will hear. My journey thus far in the pursuit of an education in club culture has taken me from my hometown Los Angeles to San Francisco and then to Detroit and Berlin, the latter of which I now call home. In my DJ sets, you can hear me restlessly ranging between the worlds of Dark Disco, eclectic House, Dub and Deep Techno in a seamless fashion. In my mind, these blending visions force a conversation and energy exchange between myself and the dance floor. What often emerges is something new and unexpected. I have recorded music and created remixes for labels such as Hypercolour, Rekids, Planet-E, Classic, KMS, Cadenza, Blood of Thrones, 2MR and of course my own Black Catalogue imprint, among others. To date, Black Catalogue has 30 releases and counting. Outside of the club, my primary focus is on music production and my monthly residency at Refuge Worldwide. Sound, vision, energy and passion. A veteran and somewhat legend to Berlin’s bass music scene, selecta UTA’s resume spans from co-running UK bass dedicated party Rec Room (along side Sarah Farina and Kepler) to providing killer sets for the likes of Rinse FM, Boiler Room, Nood Radio, Refuge Worldwide, HÖR and Berceuse Heroique mix series. In addition to appearing at cult-favourite clubs like Berlin’s OHM and Hamburg's Golden Pudel, she has frequented CTM Festival and DEEP MEDI as well as Europe's best sound system projects including Nik Nowak's explorations of sonic warfare: "Sound(ing) Systems” at KINDL Centre for Contemporary Art Berlin and the legendary KILLASAN Sound System at Haus der Kunst Munich (a collaboration with Goethe Institute; spanning art, culture and musical crossover). Schooled in classic house and techno as part of the German capital's thriving underground scene in the '90s, UTA's wide-ranging selections are tied together by her skillful technique, honed over decades behind the decks. An avid and adventurous listener, she hunts down hidden gems in second-hand record shops, mixing them with new and future sounds of bass music, grime, breaks, 2-step and dub. Over the years her passion for musical diversity and intention to find the origin of what she is playing has only grown. UTA enjoys digging deeper into the history, roots and politics of sounds and genres, it's often and still a reflection of time for her.
