“Don’t be scared to do what makes you happy, even though it means going against the stream. Make art the way art is beautiful for you.” Simone Scardino has created a musical style and vision that truly is his own, sharing it with the world with his new solo project CONCEPTUAL. Techno is body music. It’s all about this special feeling that you have when your mind disconnects and your body just follows the music, the feeling of freedom when you dance. Simone’s vision of techno unceasingly characterizes his unique productions as well as his DJ sets. In 2020 Simone founded the Berlin based art and music collective Friendship Collective. Through his devotion to techno and visual and performance arts the idea for CONCEPTUAL was born. His performances will often be characterized by collaborations with visual artists and performers, creating a special techno experience for the people that come to see him play. Owner and Founder of DUNA, new recording project boarn in 2021. The label focus on new and established artists that show and already have shown constant evolution and experimentation in the past whilst staying uncompromisingly true to their musical identity. Simone’s progressive approach to producing and DJing as well as his collaborations with artists in and outside music reflects his artistic vision and goals as much as his spirited personality, and, in its essence, embodies what CONCEPTUAL represents. Cerebral, powerful and unique best sum up Berlin-based Mary Yuzovskaya's take on techno. Despite coming up in the mid-2000s, Mary's route into techno is as rooted in the culture as it gets. While an initial stint in Berlin cemented a reputation for Mary's precise approach to her craft as a vinyl-only DJ who explores the subtleties of techno, it was a move to NYC in 2013 which took her career as an artist to the next level. Numerous residencies, not least a three-year run at the influential Unter, helped refine Yuzovskaya's unhurried, storytelling sound whilst developing a dedicated audience on the dance floor and the wider techno scene. Away from the decks and studio, her work as vinyl distribution manager at legendary Brooklyn record shop Halcyon provided the perfect stepping-off point for her vinyl-only imprint, Monday Off. A label she neatly describes as 'psychedelic techno', Monday Off has ploughed its furrow since 2017 and has introduced music from some of techno's most forward-thinking and out-of-the-ordinary artists. Back in Berlin since 2020, Mary's momentum continues with a diary that heavily features standout clubs and events like Berghain, Basement (NY), Gare (Porto), Hall (Tallinn), IFZ (Leipzig), Kablys (Vilnus), Pax Romana (Amsterdam), Rote Sonne (Munich), Smart Bar (Chicago) and Tresor (Berlin) whilst releases on such labels as Attic, Kvalia, Mnestic and Semantica, as well as her own Monday Off, help her reach an ever-growing fanbase.
