Higher Intelligence Agency (aka HIA) was formed by Bobby Bird in Birmingham in the early 90’s during the heady days of HIA's live electronic music club Oscillate in Birmingham where he was also resident DJ and technical director. Here HIA and other emerging acts developed live performance for immersive environments, bespoke sound systems & attuned audiences. Artists including HIA, Autechre, Biosphere & Orbital gave early live per- formances. Early HIA tracks featured on Warp Records Artificial Intelligence 2 and Beyond Records Ambient Dub compilations. A debut LP Colourform’was released in 1993 and a second album, Freefloater' in 1995. Collaboration albums with Biosphere, Deep Space Network & Pete Namlook followed, plus an album Nothing as System Error (1997) . Post 2000, while continuing to play occasional live HIA concerts, (incl Detroit Electronic Music festival 2007) and producing HIA remixes and tracks for compilations, Bird was also a member of Modulate AV Collective releasing a 5.1 DVD for home cinema. He also started working with MAX, developing spacial audio for multi speaker installations & performances at festival and galleries and in 2016 begun working on Watt’s Orbit, making detailed recordings of 250 year old beam engines & developing them into compositions for multi-spacial live performance through an octophonic sound system. In 2020 came the Higher Intelligence Agency release Discatron, an E.P. of new material displaying the unique HIA signature sound. In addition, Freefloater and Colourform had vinyl re releases, accompanied by Preform, an album bringing together tracks from compi-lations plus previously unreleased tracks written around the time of Colourform. In 2022, after multiple live performances of Watt’s Orbit, a stereo version was released as the album, Song Of The Machine. 2022 - 2024 HIA returned to regular live performances, including at Glastonbury IICON Stage, Houghton, Freerotation, Terraforma, (IT) Ozora (HU),Positive Education (FR), Inner Varnika (Australia), Dekmantel (NL)Rural (Japan), Dokufest (Kosovo) Modem (Croatia) as well as at his own microcosmic mini festival, HIA Wildflower Camp.Recently at Berghain

In January 2020, Smagghe & Cross released their second LP, 1819, on Offen Music and are working on a new lp for the end of the 2025. Ivan & Johnny is his project with Quinn from Paranoid London, it will cater exclusively to the furthest corners of the dancefloors. After co-running the legendary french label and parties, “Kill The DJ,” Ivan washeading up his own imprint, “Les Disques De La Mort”; an outlet for a unique taste in music and spanning releases & remixes from long staples (Manfredas, Cosmo Vitelli, Marco Passarani, I-Cube, Red Axes, Roman Fluegel) & special new comers (Elles, Sworn Virgins, Zillas on Acid). LDDLM is a label that is always faithful to an instinctively recognisable “style of no style” and the refusal to be pigeonholed. Covid reframed the way of making and diffusing music : whilst thinking of reactivating some label action, Ivan has opened Amor Fati with Niv Arzi from Red Axes, a counterintuitive blog page giving away edits to whoever wants them. Her sets feature dark and smooth grooves at the crossroads of progressive house, techno, and breaks. It is hard to determine the real origin behind TripPsy, however it is clear that he found his natural habitat in Kyiv, Ukraine. The most recent incarnation emerged alongside his latest collaboration with two new unexpected friends - together they formed THP. Under this bizarre union, they were elevated to the next level - taking the city by storm and rapidly becoming infamous as one of the besthidden local diggers. Within the next years, TripPsy further widened his reach, as he became a resident of the phenomenon known as Closer. TripPsy’s sound is unlike any other, appart from unreleased material of him and his friends – he possesses a vast, ever-growing collection of dance and experimental records focused in the weird and obscure. Drawing influences from the 80s and 90s electronica of the world, a distinct psychedelic mandala takes form whilst browsing his record bag. Its an intricate selection of music showcasing a wide span of genres like ambient, down-tempo, drone and noise - apart from the myriad of techno, trance, minimal, house and electro records. TripPsy’s style is best illustrated with a short description of a moment, when the morning rays are just about to permeate the air… It is a crisp dawn and the party is raging onwards. Leaving the path of mainstream in the underground, her sets are characterized by crossing different styles and genres, fueled by a continuous search for overlooked records from the past that deserve special attention.
