The early 90s seemed to be a breeding ground for influential dance music and this is precisely when Silverlining penetrated the underground electronic scene. What started out as a bit of fun turned into a lengthy and wholesome love affair with music that’s still all-systems-go to this day. From the first record he made over 25 years ago, to the present, his work continually has been animated by a uniquely vibrant and authentic energy that blurs the lines between a multitude of electronic genres. A born natural to the studio and the booth alike, Silverlining (real name Asad Rizvi) was recently cited as a “master of groove” by XLR8R Magazine. Whether it be budding producers dissecting his techniques, crate diggers on a voyage through his seemingly never-ending back-catalogue, or partygoers dancing to his sounds through a stack, Silverlining is a name constantly on the tips of tongues. Under a whole spectrum of aliases, Asad has turned out countless top shelf releases and remixes that exceed 150 vinyl titles. The majority of this vast catalogue can still be heard being spun regularly in clubs and selling for a substantial buck online. This has led to him channelling the aforementioned energy into the Silverlining Dubs imprint where he has made his sought-after and expensive tracks from his early discography readily available for collectors to own again, whilst intermingling them with his forward-thinking and slick productions of the present. The label was also home to his ‘Simulacra’ double pack that received wide critical acclaim in 2021. Today, Asad continues to construct a concrete reputation with his compelling and genre-melding DJ sets, whilst remaining as humble as they come. Heaps of experience in music seem to pay dividends for him as he manages to manoeuvre through his collection with real tenacity and flair, proving his inner knack for reading a room and dancefloor. Since the mid-90s, this has continuously landed him in hundreds of venues across over 40 countries from Berlin to Buenos Aires, Mexico to Paris, Tokyo to Vancouver, and, of course, countless times in the ‘big smoke’ during his illusive and integral journey that began in London. There are no doubts that Silverlining’s sound will continue to develop over many more years to come, just as it blossomed organically over the last twenty plus years. There seems to be no boundaries and limits to where Asad can take us, so the best we can do is buckle up and enjoy the ride of his inventive, dynamic and singular dance-floor sounds.Their RA profile lists Nightphunk Recordings, Talman Records, Berg Audio, Silverlining Dubs and 1 more.Recently at Renate, Monarch, Hoppetosse · often with Emanuele Barilli, LO-2C, Busso, none of them here that night
“Chile’s profound impact on electronic music is unquestionable.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Chile’s profound impact on electronic music is unquestionable. From Ricardo Villalobos to Luciano, the country has punched above its weight when it comes to discerning electronica. Another artist who firmly belongs among such esteemed company is Felipe Valenzuela. Now based in Berlin, Valenzuela is more than a DJ/producer - he’s a qualified sound engineer and a label owner of considerable repute. Prolific, technical and a performer boasting a magical and unique sound, Valenzuela’s musical nous and ability to read a crowd (bolstered by an impeccable collection of hard-to-spot records) has led him to some of the globe’s foremost nightspots. From Amnesia in Ibiza to Frankfurt’s Robert Johnson to Paris’ Concrete, he’s left his mark on some of the world’s most famous ‘floors. Throw in the fact that he’s also held residencies at Club der Visionaire and Hoppetosse in his adopted city of Berlin, and it’s clear that Valenzuela is a special type of DJ. From a label perspective, it’s Valenzuela’s relationship with Dani Casarano for which he is best known. In 2009, the pair launched Melisma (as well as its sister label, Melisma Limited), with both labels quickly earning lofty reputations amongst clued-in DJs and electronic music connoisseurs alike, a reputation that’s garnered label contributions from Ricardo Villalobos, as well as Thomas Melchior & Fumiya Tanaka under their much-respected Tofu Productions alias. Fast forward 8 years and Felipe and Dani, alongside close associate Momo Trosmann, are focusing their attention on a new label, Melcure. A hybrid combination of what makes Melisma - as well as Felipe & Trosmann’s Cure Music - so great. The label kicked off with Melcure000, a double A-sided affair, which featured stunning originals from both Felipe and Dani. The coming months look equally busy, with Felipe set to offer a string of releases under a range of different aliases. With appearances at Sonar as well as his aforementioned label endeavours already under his belt, it’s clear that 2018 is shaping up to be another momentous year for Felipe Valenzuela, the next chapter looks set to be every bit as exciting as what has come before.Their RA profile lists Cadenza Records, raum...musik, Metroline Limited, Fumakilla and 6 more.Recently at Club der Visionaere, Hoppetosse · often with Pau Pérez, Nas.T, E.LINA, none of them here that night
“Five things which, on their own, might not seem connected.”

Five things which, on their own, might not seem connected. But join the dots and you’ll see that for Barcelona’s Baldo, each of these represent the many strings to his bow. As a producer, Baldo’s discography speaks for itself. Gerd Janson’s Running Back, Step Recordings and a soon-to-land EP on leftfield outfit E-Beamz showcase the breadth of his output. He’ll shortly be releasing on his own imprint Physical Education, and on Permanent Vacation too, joining the likes of Fort Romeau and Lauer. As a businessman, his Subwax Distribution company has become a global institution, distributing releases for a plethora of vinyl-only outfits. It’s now a go-to service for several of the scene’s leading imprints, including Limousine Dream, Butter Side Up, Haŵs Music, Mindhelmet and Slapfunk to name a few. As a multiple label-owner, his Physical Education, Curated By Time and BLD Tape Recordings imprints represent the styles that make him tick. A ‘90s re-release of Affie Yusuf here, a hard-edged acid offering under his BLD alias there… the productions span across the board, embodying his musical tastes through-and-through. Add to that his former residency at seminal Barcelona nightspot Razzmatazz, one that he’s held down for nearly a decade, and you’ll quickly learn that Baldo’s involvement in dance music runs deep. And at the core of it? His love for music. Now that’s something we can all salute.Their RA profile lists Permanent Vacation, Running Back, Physical Education and Club Mix.Recently at Hoppetosse, Club der Visionaere · often with Carlo, Bruno Schmidt, Junki Inoue, none of them here that night
