“Scott Monteith is a musician, sound artist and music technology educator best known for his work under the stage name Deadbeat.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Scott Monteith is a musician, sound artist and music technology educator best known for his work under the stage name Deadbeat. Having launched his production career at the turn of the millennium, the Canadian-born, Berlin-based producer's 22 Deadbeat albums, three-dozen singles, and countless remixes and collaborations represent one of the most prolific and consistently rewarding catalogues in the modern electronic music canon. The city of Montreal played an outsized role in the sonic depths of his early works. Moving to the city in 1998, he secured a day job with local music software developer Applied Acoustics Systems and spent the late hours pursuing his own creative endeavours. In the spring of 2006, Monteith would make the move to Berlin. The move proved fruitful as his creative focus shifted from the studio to the stage, resulting in performance invitations from the most respected clubs and festivals the world over. As a DJ, Monteith is a dub archivist second to none, with a collection spanning the genre's early Jamaican roots, through the “steppers” versions of the 80s and 90s championed in the UK and Europe, to the current crop of global producers pushing the dub sounds into previously unheard directions and widely divergent rhythmic structures. This was most clearly highlighted with the release of his critically acclaimed DJ mix Radio Rothko in 2010, rated by various publications as one of the most genre-defining mix CDs of all time, highlighting both the founders and most progressive young producers of the Dub Techno sound at the time. In addition to his production and performance activities, his abilities as an educational speaker and workshop leader have been regularly called upon by the world-renowned Red Bull Music Academy, as well as technology leaders such as Microsoft, Ableton, and Native Instruments among others. A tireless innovator of vast creative vision, 20-plus years on, Monteith's restless creative spirit shows no signs of being quieted for many years to come.Their RA profile lists Wagon Repair, ~scape, Cynosure Recordings, Musique Risquée and 6 more.Recently at OHM, MaHalla, Kater · often with Escapverte, Chica Paula, Max Loderbauer, none of them here that night

“A driving influence in shaping the sound of minimal house and techno.”
their own biography
the whole biography
A driving influence in shaping the sound of minimal house and techno. Mike Shannon has been a driving force in electronic music for over two decades. Emerging from southwestern Ontario, Shannon’s early career was heavily shaped by the deep techno and house of Detroit and Chicago, which inspired his unique, reductionist style. His precise approach and commitment to minimalist sound design quickly earned him a reputation as one of the most forward-thinking artists in the scene. Mike’s journey reached a pivotal moment with his collaboration on Richie Hawtin’s Plus 8 label, which cemented his position within the minimal movement and sparked the creation of his own influential labels, Cynosure (Soundcloud / Bandcamp / Discogs) and a sub label Haunt Recordings (Soundcloud / Bandcamp / Discogs). Both imprints have become synonymous with cutting-edge minimalism, blending jazz-infused textures with experimental electronic music that continually redefines the genre. Known for his mastery of modular synthesis and his boundary-pushing productions, Shannon’s career has been marked by a relentless pursuit of innovation. His live performances, whether solo or in collaboration with artists like Deadbeat, Dewalta, or The Mole, are a testament to his deep understanding of sound. Equally adept behind the decks as a DJ, Mike Shannon curates sets that blend intricate rhythms with minimalistic grooves, captivating audiences around the world. With an unparalleled ability to create both live modular performances and DJ sets, Mike Shannon offers a rare combination of technical expertise and artistic vision. Each performance is a unique journey, leaving a lasting impression that keeps audiences wanting more. For those seeking an artist who brings depth, innovation, and a powerful connection to the crowd, Mike Shannon is the definitive choice.Their RA profile lists Plus 8 Records Ltd, Wagon Repair, ~scape, Cynosure Recordings and 6 more.Recently at Club der Visionaere, Golden Gate · often with Außerdem, Lottl, HOPPER, none of them here that night
“Seventies Hungarian funk, Youtube outsider artists, the dustiest of old Bollywood relics—all is fair game when it comes time for The Mole to pull either inspiration or wax for his house-heavy DJ sets and live shows.”

Seventies Hungarian funk, Youtube outsider artists, the dustiest of old Bollywood relics—all is fair game when it comes time for The Mole to pull either inspiration or wax for his house-heavy DJ sets and live shows. Decades in, the Vancouver native still gets the jitters before a performance, which speaks a lot to his ethos. For a guy for whom a record bag is so much more than the sum of its parts, every gig is a big deal. And if you've ever had the chance to catch him in action—be it DJing or jumping between his MPC and a sole turntable—, you'd agree. Low-key and loved by many, the rambling capitán of Maybe Tomorrow possesses a steadfast commitment to keeping it groovy above all. "And weird!" A normally elusive creature, The Mole can be found most at home behind a DJ booth during the wee smoky hours in the midst of long, drawn-out sets. The more time for injecting a bit of Marvin Gaye here, some Mercedes Sosa there, the better. Known for his love of sonic collage and musical noodling, he boasts a long and colourful list of releases—for labels like Perlon, Ostgut Ton, Slices of Life, Haunt, Musique Risquée, New Kanada, Internasjonal and longtime home Wagon Repair. A relentless digger with an utter disregard for the structural capabilities of his living room floor, Colin is on a constant one-man mission to keep the record store industry afloat. This means, in his case, approaching music with the kind of open-mindedness and humility necessary for not only acquiring, but learning. Which might be what makes him an ideal bandmate to his friends in Modern Deep Left Quartet and Units & Measurements. "That—or the fart jokes." It's the low profile, the constant smile and a genuine love for music that make The Mole, an artist with a career spanning over 20 years, an easy one to recognise at a party. He's the guy with an ear-to-ear grin on his face, wondering why in the world he's getting paid for having so much fun.Their RA profile lists Ostgut Ton, Wagon Repair, Circus Company, Souvenir Music and 6 more.often with Sammy Dee, Mathew Jonson, Zip, none of them here that night
“He once claimed that he felt a physical need to make music every day, and it’s hard to think of anyone whose immersion in music is quite as complete.”

He once claimed that he felt a physical need to make music every day, and it’s hard to think of anyone whose immersion in music is quite as complete. For Trago, there is no “typical day”, but an average one would include a combination of studio sessions – either solo, or with friends and like-minded musicians from the Netherlands or beyond – DJ gigs and live shows. Although now widely considered to be among the top tier of European DJs, capable of working big rooms, intimate spaces and wild festival crowds, Trago’s rise was built on years honing his craft. As a DJ, he first earned his stripes barely eking a living playing in Amsterdam’s coffee shops as an enthusiastic teenager. While waiting for the evening to roll around, he would pour his heart and soul into making music, first blending elements of experimental hip-hop, jazz, Latin, Afrobeat, disco, boogie, and soul-flecked broken beat, before slowly developing a distinctively colourful, emotion-rich, synthesizer-fired style of music that also draws influence from house and techno. Trago’s first big break came in 2006, when hometown label Rush Hour released his debut single, “Live With The BBQ”. In the years since, Tom has continued to turn out much-played, club-ready cuts, including such timeless jams as “Use Me Again (And Again)”, “Hidden Heart of Gold” and his 2015 hook-up with Seth Troxler as T&T Music Factory, “De Natte Cell.” It’s on his acclaimed albums, though, that Tom showcases the full breadth and depth of his unique musical vision. This was first evident on 2009 debut full-length Voyage Direct (his record label of the same name followed in 2010), with the two sets that followed – Iris (2011) and The Light Fantastic (2013) – showing further signs of open-minded musical development, along with a penchant for collaboration with like-minded musicians, vocalists and producers. In the spring of 2018, Tom will release his fourth studio album, Bergen, on Dekmantel, before heading out on tour with a brand new live show. As time moves on, Tom will continue to pour his heart and soul into music, whether DJing, performing live or making new tracks. If you bump into him in the corner of some dark, sweaty club, you’re likely to find him excitedly talking about ideas for new projects or waxing lyrical about hitherto unknown producers he’s discovered. His immersion in music may be total, but Tom Trago’s musical journey is far from complete. In fact, it’s only just begun…Their RA profile lists Circus Company, Rush Hour Music, Dekmantel, Toy Tonics and 2 more.Recently at Coco Boule · often with SALIMATA, Doudou MD, none of them here that night

Laetitia de Katapult has been an activist in the electronic music scene for so many years now. Due to a real passion for music, she opened, along with her all time partner, her first record shop "katapult" back in 1996 in Normandy, France. They moved to Paris in 2000 and while running the new record shop in France's capital city, they, therefore, created their own record label called Karat as well as starting parties/events that, not only allowed them to meet great, talented and famous artists, but also gave them such a reputation worlwide. Having discovered new talents in the past several years, it is now time for Laetitia to be acknowledged as a top dj. She obviously carries on taking care of the Katapult parties as long as managing the Karat record label but that doesn't stop her from getting recknowned while djing in all the major european cities. She's concentrating on her own music production lately, we surely can expect a 12" by the end of 2009 on the karat label. Laetitia de Katapult as djed alongside some of the most famous artists in the electronic music world such as Ricardo Villalobos, Chloe, Luciano, Ark, Mathew Johnson, Zip, Thomas Melchior, Dandy Jack, Sonja Moonear,..Their RA profile lists Karat Records and Welcome to Masomenos.“Al Ex is the alter ego behind which Aleksandar Kralj stands.”

Al Ex is the alter ego behind which Aleksandar Kralj stands. Until recently, he was known to clubbers as part of the famous Montenegrin DJ band Iks Oks.Working for years as part of the aforementioned tandem, there is no club, venue and electronic music festival in Montenegro that they were not part of, and other performances in Serbia have also been noted. He began his solo work, and his new alias is also the beginning of a different presentation to the audience.Recently at AVA Club · often with Ajeet Kaur, Aki Bosse, Alex Somers, none of them here that night
