“Mareena's deep connection with electronic music began in her early teenage years in East Germany, where she experienced the quaking rise of techno.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Mareena's deep connection with electronic music began in her early teenage years in East Germany, where she experienced the quaking rise of techno. Growing up amidst youth club culture and underground parties in abandoned buildings, she was shaped by the no-nonsense, freedom-oriented spirit of the post-communist era. But it was when she moved to Berlin in 2004, that she started DJing, and the city and its vigorous nightlife contributed immensely to her understanding as an artist. Musically spoken, her roots branch deep into the spirit and sound of dub techno and pre and early 2000s techno productions. Adding to this foundation, Mareena has developed a statement sound characterized by rhythmic, lively, and non-linear beats that create an unrelenting flow of energy on the dancefloor. This foundation has earned a long-standing residency (since 2012) in the techno institution Tresor, which stands for a similar ethos. Authentic, but always evolving. Her ability to include hard and elegant elements into her vinyl-oriented sets has led her to play at renowned clubs across the globe - Berghain, De School, Faust Seoul or for the Bunker New York events. Mareena brings that club spirit also to life at the festivals she played, ranging from the cutting edge Up To Date Festival to ravier happenings like the Third Room and not to forget her ambient appearances like at Mostra Barcelona. As opposites are necessary to create balance and harmony, another facet of Mareena’s DJing is the subtle and evocative touches of her ambient sets. Mindfulness, slowing down and the art of contemplation are equally important to Mareen than the dancefloor euphoria. This has led her to found the event series, podcast and label UNRUSH in 2016. Unrush focuses on different hues of ambient music and therefore likes to be a counterpoint to today's fast-paced society. Mareena's career extends beyond DJing into production, too. Productions, that celebrate her love of synthesizers and don't stick to any of the classic genre boxes. So far, Mareena has released on labels like Muzan Editions, Tresor, and her imprint, Unrush. Her collaborative album with JakoJako, "Atlas Der Gedanken," is dedicated to different shades of ambient that make the listener reflect inwards and gaze outwards simultaneously through its organic and electronic touches. Mareena's credibility and authenticity, paired with a daring style, make her a key presence in today’s electronic music culture and carry its spirit forward.Their RA profile lists Tresor, Unrush and Muzan Editions.Recently at Tresor / Globus, Else, Berghain · often with TRESOR, GLOBUS, Kerrie, none of them here that night

“Born in the Netherlands, Steffi began playing records in her small home town in the mid 90s.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Born in the Netherlands, Steffi began playing records in her small home town in the mid 90s. In search of broader horizons for her creative expression (a common thread in her artistic journey), Steffi moved to Amsterdam and established herself in the city with DJ residencies and her own underground parties. The diverse approach to sound that she cultivated during this period remains fundamental to all aspects of her creative work today. Resistant to conventional notions of career moves or self-promotion, it was her original vision and pursuit of new challenges that brought her to Berlin in the early 00s and to the city’s emblematic Berghain. As one of the club’s more adaptable residents, Steffi can be found in control of any one of the building’s celebrated dancefloors, transmitting her deep knowledge and appreciation for all forms of dance music. From broken beat, IDM, electro, classic house and Detroit techno to genre-breaking sounds from all eras – Steffi will play it as long as it’s funky and it grooves. Her experience and lasting enthusiasm for her craft have translated effortlessly to the international clubs and festivals – big and small – at which she has long been a staple, as well as to milestone mixes and compilations for Berghain/Panoramabar, fabric and Air Texture. As a producer, Steffi has an extensive discography that reflects her constant development as a musician. A long and fertile relationship with Ostgut Ton began with the release of her hit single Yours (2010) and debut album Yours & Mine (2011) (both reissued in 2022 on DESTEFSTER, her new sub-label dedicated to her own club-oriented output past and present). Two further solo albums followed – Power Of Anonymity (2014) and World Of The Waking State (2017) – and a co-production on Virginia’s debut album, Fierce For The Night (2016). With Martyn, Steffi released the Doms & Deykers album Evidence From A Good Source (2016) on 3024, and under the solo alias Crushed Soul she released the Family Of Waves EP (2020) on Dark Entries. As a remixer, Steffi has worked with both established artists and emerging producers whose music resonates with her, most recently Christine And The Queens, St Vincent, SebastiAn, Josh Caffé, Max Cooper, Azo and FJAAK. Through all of this output, Steffi has developed a varied sound that balances classic dancefloor accessibility with a desire to push at the boundaries of genre convention and production techniques. In parallel with her production work, Steffi has nurtured two long-running labels – Klakson, founded in 2000, and Dolly, founded in 2010 – which continue to release a distinct blend of electro, breaks, Chicago and Detroit house and techno by a range of respected producers to this day. Both imprints have also been home to Steffi’s own joint projects with likeminded artists, such as Dexter, Stingray, Shed, John Daly and, more recently, Sepehr and Privacy (as Negroni Nails). Her reputation for collaboration and expertise in the studio has also seen her perform the role of mentor for several music education programmes, including Red Bull Music Academy in 2018. In recent years, Steffi’s tireless search for new ground has been made tangible in a permanent move to Portugal, where, with Virginia, she founded the label, studio space and artist-driven creative hub Candy Mountain, a platform through which she continues to push herself and the community around her forwards. This new home base in the hills outside Lisbon – framed by an abundant garden that she tends with the same care as her ever growing studio – gives a simple, even romantic impression, but its relevance and impact, like Steffi’s, are truly global. The first project that captures the spirit of Candy Mountain is her latest solo LP, The Red Hunter. With her new studio setup, she plunges even deeper into the details of sound processing, bringing complex, modulating grooves and textures into the foreground while intentionally preserving the song-like arrangements that have always made her work so relatable. For Steffi, the process itself is as rewarding, if not more so, than the final output, and she applies this same attitude to the careful planning and curation of her unique live performances. All of these new initiatives are the latest proof of the hard work, determination and total immersion in music that have led Steffi to where she is today, while also being the perfect indication of where she wants to go in the future.Their RA profile lists Ostgut Ton, Underground Quality, Tsuba Records, Klakson and 6 more.Recently at Berghain, Haus der Visionäre · often with Virginia, nd_baumecker, Efdemin, none of them here that night
“Musical trends may fluctuate over time, but some artists remain pillars unscathed by the change in the tides.”

Musical trends may fluctuate over time, but some artists remain pillars unscathed by the change in the tides. One such artist is undoubtedly Stojche Cvetanovski. Native of Skopje, Macedonia, he established himself as a notable undeground techno figure. The vibrant scene and the expansion of the Motor City sounds in the Macedonian capital, triggered him to explore his own path in his futuristic music phenomenon called Techno. After a decade devoted to djing, he shifted to producing, and in 2009 he co-founded “Argumento Music”. Stojche is one of the names on the European circuit that broke through by array of contributions to labels like A.r.t.less, Syncrophone, Fuse Brussels, Conform, Mutual Rytm, alongside many others. In 2011 he launched hissolo imprint “Tangible Assets”. An outlet that has given him the freedom to explore and refine his trademark Detroit – schooled dubbed out productions. “Tangible Assets” reflects a personal statement with emphasized appreciation for the history of techno music. His "Minor-scale funk" sound signature, assembled a discographic résumé that passed the test of time. He is consistent in pushing forward the timeless envelope of the “hi-tech soul” legacy. In contrast, as a dj that is deep in harmony with the roots of techno, electro or dub, he exudes the kind of tact that speaks nothing but the truth. Whether you find him in the basement of Tresor or Berghain, his dj sets providefurther evidence of many years spent behind the turntables, resulting in pounding yet dynamic journeys with a dose of emotional content. His constant pursuit for inspiration sits balanced with the pulse of the city life, and isworking tirelessly without fanfare to enrich a scene that sits close to his heart. Nuno Costa began his ventures into electronic music in 2008 with his Sinner moniker, and with it he created Warface, a local crew and promoter focused on dubstep, drum ’n’ bass, and UK garage. In 2013 he kickstarted his new project, VIL, focusing mainly on techno, electro, breaks, and house music. His debut EP came in early 2015, when Portuguese label Extended Records picked him up for a release. Soon after, he released on Lewis Fautzi’s “Faut Section” imprint and on the legendary techno imprint Synewave New York, run by Damon Wild. VIL’s refined taste and set building ability has already earned him a place at some of the best clubs in Portugal, and is a regular presence at many of the country’s festivals as well. Fast forward to 2018, where alongside Portuguese artists Temudo and menosdois, he creates Hayes, a collective focused on showcasing the distinct output of its artists through vinyl and digital releases. “It was the elder one of the brothers, Dario, who first found his way into Munich’s flourishing scene of electronic dance music during the late nineties.”
their own biography
the whole biography
It was the elder one of the brothers, Dario, who first found his way into Munich’s flourishing scene of electronic dance music during the late nineties. He was a huge fan of Hip Hop and Dub when he stumbled into the neon lights of the omnipresent Goa parties that got staged in many clubs. His first set of turntables was a gift from his parents at the age of fifteen and he quickly found himself at the other side of the dance floor. In 2006 his younger brother Marco, who also was an enthusiastic supporter of Hip Hop and Reggae music – apart from being quite a talented skateboarder -, went to see Dario perform and fell in love with the unique vibe of Techno and House parties. This night was a crucial turning point in any sense. It was only a question of time when these two artists and brothers would canalise their creativity and start to work together. In 2007 they founded the label Ilian Tape with some long lasting friends, in order to establish a platform for their own productions, and in 2012 they started playing their notorious B2B sets. Rooted in the legacy of Detroit and Techno, House, Dub, Rap Music and Breakbeats, the two brothers managed to define their own trademark sound over the years with their own productions, and their own way of running a label by building a fundament with patience. Besides focusing on Ilian Tape they have released records on such notable labels as Tresor or 50 Weapons. In 2015 they released their first album called Immersion, which was the next natural step and heart project after they moved their two bedroom studios together in 2013. In 2020 their second album “Cosmic Transmission” was released and Marco’s first solo album “Channel Balance” came out in 2022. In the same year Dario & Marco, in close cooperation with Klaus Arnold, launched Tangible Air, a mastering & mixing studio. Since 2020 all records on Ilian Tape were mastered by them. The brothers never forget their roots, where they came from and the essential meaning of a well-known Munich proverb: “Live and let live”, so furthermore they transcend the musical legacy of their hometown into the new millennium, shaping and forming it the Zenkerian way towards something very unique and – even more important – connective.Their RA profile lists Tresor, Ilian Tape, 50 Weapons, Repitch and 1 more.Recently at Else, Tresor / Globus, RSO.BERLIN · often with re:ni, Stenny, GLOBUS, none of them here that night
“Gabrielle Kwarteng’s journey continues to be one of passion, dedication and fate.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Gabrielle Kwarteng’s journey continues to be one of passion, dedication and fate. Born and raised in New York, Kwarteng has withstood shifting sands in dance music to represent a curatorial presence with a deep knowledge of music history, driven by a dedication to regenerating its culture. In an era of everything at once, Kwarteng is a DJ who weaves stories for the dancefloor that often look to the past, while always focusing on possible futures. In an era of sonic singularities, Kwarteng’s flexibility and curiosity is a virtue; her long-awaited debut at Dekmantel Festival in 2023 resulted in no less than three sets across the weekend, each possessing contrasting energies. Elsewhere London’s iconic Fabric have championed Kwarteng on multiple occasions, programming her into their prestigious 25th birthday celebrations alongside the likes of Ben UFO and Ricardo Villalobos. At Berghain, she has appeared with even greater frequency as part of some of the fabled club’s most crucial parties, including CSD, Silvester, as well as smoothly piloting seven-hour closing sets in Panorama Bar. Such reverberations have reached far beyond the club; FKA twigs extended a personal invite to soundtrack her 2024 Met Gala afterparty. Taking place at The Standard, Kwarteng played just a few blocks uptown from the Soho Grand ballroom, where she had once furtively begun her first DJ residency, less than a decade earlier. The roots of this keen musicality run deep. Born in Brooklyn to Ghanaian parents but raised in the Bronx, Kwarteng’s childhood was soundtracked by a mix of first-wave Highlife, Afrobeat and disco. Outside her own front door, in a thriving neighborhood of diverse American experiences, entire sounds and scenes expanded and exploded as pop-culture began to mutate in new ways, both online and off. Crossing to Manhattan for school, the tempo changed entirely as rock, hip hop and experimental music filled Kwarteng’s ears, accompanying her intense study. Juggling academia with the beat became part of life, and she was later presented with the Mixcloud Online Radio Award for Best Eclectic Show, broadcasting on then burgeoning online radio station, The Lot. An early and completely unexpected acknowledgement of an instinct for music that traversed genre expectations, it laid down the foundations for her later move and return to Europe, and a commitment to trusting her creative instincts. Here, Kwarteng has not only become a fixture in established, open-minded musical spaces everywhere from Berlin, London, Amsterdam and Paris, but is equally called upon to establish the energy of new ventures, such as Horst Club in Belgium. Her resplendent selections have made connections further still, on tour in Australia, South America and soon to include Asia. Listening and dancing to Kwarteng, whether in a cavernous rave hall, a sweat-soaked underground club or amid the temporary pleasures of a festival, is an experience that feels at once familiar but always energizing. Fluidly slipping through a mix of heady 80s and 90s US house, disco interpretations that traverse diaspora and eras, and the futurist pulse of physical, emotive techno, Kwarteng expertly matches the requisite energy of contemporary queer rave culture. This understanding led to an invitation to make a storied Glastonbury festival debut at the legendary Block 9, the deepest pleasure center within the nocturnal NYC Downlow, before returning in 2024 for a back-to-back set with Shanti Celeste, this time on the wider scale of the Silver Hayes stage. Wherever she performs, Kwarteng’s expertise serves to not only continue the championing of Black American genres such as house, techno and disco, but equally, to explore the continuum of global dance music as a whole. Having laid the foundations for a unique musical journey, it’s a level of respect that’s tangible on any dancefloor. In these increasingly sacred spaces, Gabrielle Kwarteng’s personal passion translates into collective ecstasy. The dig continues.Recently at Berghain, Else, Backsteinboot · often with Boris, BASHKKA, Cinthie, none of them here that night

On her journey from the Welsh hills, via London and Berlin, she has honed her art, diving deep into cerebral realms of dream-driven, tactile dance music, expertly weaving the gentle and the angular, with a strong sense of groove throughout. Inspired by the sounds of early 90s Sheffield and Detroit, and above all by the machines and the people who give them their voice, Gwenan is known for her perceptive presentation of techno in all its forms. Up before dawn on the day of the gig, pulling together records to play that night, she teases out the spaces between styles that escape classification. Directness, grit, irresistible movement, a sense of circuits jumping into life—it’s an ears-first approach that puts body and mood before time and place. In the studio, Gwenan produces music ranging from abstract electronics to dancefloor grooves using a mixture of classic hardware, software and an ever-expanding tangle of modules. Live, you can catch her solo (as Phase Space live), and with Eli Verveine (as Gin & Tonic), as they do their best to step out of the way and let instinct—and the machines—do the talking.Recently at Club der Visionaere, MaHalla, Tresor / Globus · often with Rasho, GLOBUS, TRESOR, none of them here that night

Majdolen is a Syrian-born DJ, producer, and curator whose rapid ascent in Berlin’s club scene has been nothing short of striking. Since emerging as a powerful presence behind the decks, her name has become a fixture on lineups across the city—gracing venues big and small. A resident at Power Dance Club and headlining some of its most defining queer parties, including Herrensauna, Cocktail D’amore and WHOLE Festival. She shapes her sound by a refined sensitivity to space and crowd. adapting fluidly between rooms and moods; oscillating between techno B-sides laced with low-end tension and percussive restraint, trance-drenched psychedelia, rough-cut house, shimmering disco hybrids, and emotionally potent minimal tools. Her sound draws from the past but reframes it through a contemporary lens, always bringing something unexpected while staying emotionally attuned. Her sets often unleash a collective release, with energy that unfolds from the first moment to the last, driven by the emotional arcs and sonic narratives she sculpts with precision, This approach has earned her growing recognition in Berlin and beyond, both for her storytelling and her grounding presence in queer nightlife. Stemming from Lecce Massimilano Pagliara has been based in Berlin for several years where he's been one of the main forces behind recombining the city's hardboiled techno scene with an often overlooked sensibility for the soft and the tender. Call it underground disco passion. Massi describes his style as an eclectic mix of house, disco, electro and techno – one may call it current-yet-classic. DJing has since led to production. These days Massi lets his obsession with analog synths run wild – usually he's holed up in his apartment studio, working on his latest productions. Massimilano's last and sophomore album, ‘With One Another’ (LARJ, 2014), was about celebrating the joy of human encounters and in parts seemed like a big get-together with like-minded artists and friends. The record quickly hit the number one spot in Groove magazine's album chart – and its creator hit the road. Besides his busy DJ schedule and far from the usual club circuit routines, the Panorama Bar resident dedicated himself to intense travelling and exploring the world anew. ‘Feel Live’, Massimiliano's third full-length endeavour was recorded in several intimate, sometimes improvised studio settings between Los Angeles, Portland, and Massimiliano's homebase in Berlin as well as at airports and on intercontinental flights high up in the sky – Massi's most playful and imaginative work to date. Sedef Adasï has spent years refining a style that is both unpredictable and precise—shaped by instinct rather than formula. Her sets go beyond simple selections, evolving into a language between artist and audience. With elegance and ease, she moves fluidly between house, acid, and rhythmic textures, blending raw energy with refinement to create a sound that feels both dynamic and defined. Her sets unfold in real time, guided by the rhythm, movement, and shifting energy of the dancefloor. Born and raised in Augsburg, Adasï resisted the allure of major urban centers, using her local foundation to create something new for her city. This decision led to HAMAM Nights, the party series she launched in 2017 that has since gained international resonance. From the intimate City Club Augsburg to Berghain’s Panorama Bar, Hammam Nights returns to the essence of club culture, creating spaces of warmth, unity, and collective energy. A resident at both Munich’s Blitz Club and Berghain / Panorama Bar, Adasï sculpts nights that are unrepeatable and deeply felt. She moves through sound with instinctive precision, creating an ongoing dialogue with the dancefloor. More than a decade into her journey, she continues to push the boundaries of club music, treating each set as a dynamic exchange—where sound, space, and collective energy come together to create something unique and lasting.Their RA profile lists Permanent Vacation, Public Possession, Freeride Millenium and KALT Records.Last at Berghain in Jul · often with Henriku, D'Julz, Alexander Skancke, none of them here that night
