the whole biography
DJ Westfa is a Black queer DJ and cultural curator whose deep, soulful sets have become a staple in Berlin and Amsterdam’s night life. With roots in Suriname, Westfa channels a spiritual connection to music, weaving house, tribal rhythms, percussion, and deeper journeys into performances that are as emotionally resonant as they are rhythmically compelling. Over a decade ago, Westfa founded Our Society in Amsterdam—a community-driven event series that evolved into a platform for soulful gatherings and cultural exchange. Through Our Society, he has booked legendary artists like Theo Parrish, Moodymann, and Robert Owens, while also spotlighting emerging talent. The project has since expanded into fundraisers, panels and Our Society Radio on Refuge Worldwide, where Westfa hosts intimate conversations with guests about mental health, creativity, and personal growth, all soundtracked by music that has shaped their lives. As a resident DJ at Refuge Worldwide and a frequent performer at venues in Amsterdam and Berlin, Westfa brings a deeply personal energy to the booth. Known for his emotionally charged and rhythmically sets, Westfa has brought his sound to some of Europe’s most respected dance floors, including Badaboum, RAUM, Tresor, OHM, Shelter, Resident Advisor, Melt Festival and Is Burning - to name a few. His sets are more than just mixing tracks—they are acts of cultural storytelling and healing. Through rhythm, soul, and love, DJ Westfa continues to honor and elevate the Black queer roots of dance music while building inclusive spaces for future generations.Recently at Marmorbar, Coco Boule, Tresor / Globus · often with GLOBUS, TRESOR, Skee Mask, none of them here on Friday

“All started with a innate love for rhythms and a cautious way of observing things as a child.”

All started with a innate love for rhythms and a cautious way of observing things as a child. Being heavily influenced by his mother, who listened to a lot of black music, he started to dig his way through different genres. Such as Hip-Hop, Rap, Reggae, RnB, Funk, Soul, Jazz - especially bossa nova, psychedelic rock, indie and all kinds of electronic strains... Where he still is hooked till today and refurbishes his aesthetics of sonic formula. At the age of 20 he moved to Berlin and began to dance through the nights at Sisyphos, Tresor, the old Griessmühle, Säule and countless underground venues. Being a child of the night, time passed by and the daylight soon came into touch with his path and started to alter his views on the sound as a body and the raver itself. By assuming to understand pieces of the hidden language of electronic dance frequencies, his love began to grow even deeper and made him produce for himself. The years went by. Connections grew and later on he became part of the collective Concrete Berlin. They began to build a fanbase of pretty intense party-guests, who love relentless and diverse sound. Starting to mix on two technics and a '92 in January 2020, Vinyl became his go-to medium. Blending mostly old school vinyl gems with contemporaries in a rough but deep manner, he enchants the crowd into a harmonic dance trip. Short breaks, strong grooves and colorful elements create a captivating atmosphere, an immersive sonic experience. Proper Vinylism expected.Their RA profile lists Concrete Berlin.Recently at Liquidrom, ÆDEN, Renate · often with Ceață, Dohus, none of them here on Friday
