b o o k i n g: contact@lmnt-agency.com Despite his young age, Weisemann has been DJing since 1996. His musical influences ranges from Classic, Soundtracks, Soul and Jazz, Deep House and Dub to his beloved Detroit Techno and US House. As a producer, his music draws deeply on the legacy of Chicago and Detroit, yet somehow manages to end up sounding as fresh as a daisy - records such as 'Vibe' and 'Slices' are house music that is half atmosphere and half beats, and not afraid to take its sweet time to lull the floor with their charms. A self-taught musician who plays piano, acoustic guitar and percussion, Weisemann also composes jazz and soundtracks - traditions which also inform his house records no doubt, many of which you can find on Meanwhile, House Café Music, Apple Pips, Kann, a.r.t.less, Wandering, Liebe*Detail, Real Soon, Styrax Leaves, Essays, Freund Der Familie, Fauxpas Musik, Echocord, Delsin, Telrae, Just Another Beat and especially Mojuba, where Weisemann's music slots together with friends Nick Solé and Oracy to form a distinct, and highly collectible, label sound. The producer, DJ and label boss Steffen Laschinski, a.k.a. Rising Sun, has a long track record in the field of electronic music. His labels Styrax and Kristofferson Kristofferson have attained cult status amongst DJs and record collectors alike. With releases from Larry Heard, Ron Trent, Shed, Baby Ford, and Herbert – to name but a few – the labels have become a staple in sets from distinguished international DJs and are often sold at exorbitant prices online. Laschinski has become an institution as a DJ and producer with his project Rising Sun, achieving recognition for the unique emotional depth to his style. His music weaves together melancholic narratives to move the listener on an emotional level, eschewing the cliché of house purely designed for the dance floor. Dubbed by music magazine Das Filter as the “godfather of outsider house”, Rising Sun received unanimous praise in the press for his last album Lamentations Of Rising Sun, with Groove naming it as one of their favourites/album of the month. In addition to this, his releases on the renowned labels Workshop, Real Soon, and Just Another Beat can often be heard on top international dance floors. The intense emotional quality of Rising Sun’s music has united various camps of listeners and gained popularity with audiences around the globe. His hit “Lift Up Your Faces” became a ritual closing track of the notorious Amnesia Club in Ibiza. As a DJ, Rising Sun stands for traditional, historically aware house and techno in the vein of Basic Channel, Detroit, and deep house, yet he still maintains a keen ear for fresh and new sounds. He is currently working on new releases and remixes for famous international labels. “This is not a simple release, it’s a gift to the entire human kind…enjoy it.” doubledash2, 2011 (YouTube)Their RA profile lists Workshop, Freund der Familie, Styrax, Just Another Beat and 3 more.Recently at Paloma · often with The Ambientist, Sæti, none of them here on Friday
“The best way to describe Philipp Priebe’s music might be as dancefloor-prose.”
their own biography
the whole biography
The best way to describe Philipp Priebe’s music might be as dancefloor-prose. The german producer and DJ musically recites raw, sensitive stories that tempt you to fall in love on the dancefloor or at least wrap you in a blanket of melancholy. Philipp’s live sets combine honest and emotive deep house with the dusty grinds of dub techno. Straight- to-the heart samples add to the distinct moods, all carved out through a deeply personal, almost therapeutic process. While sentimental, an irrefutable drive unfolds accompanied a bouncy, activating rhythm. Fascinated by how bands like Sigur Rós create emotive atmospheres and musically reflect internal processes, Priebe found his own way to craft club-appropriate compositions that convey storytelling and emotional processing. His productions revolve around specific narratives, often drawn from real-life situations or those childhood musings we can all relate to. Priebe is - by nature- an “Album-Artist”, one who builds an ark traversing multiple moods, just like in his live sets. His 2014 Album “The Being of the Beautiful” (IL Y A Records) explores the concept of beauty. The experience and sensation of being trapped in a department store are captured in “Movements in an Empty Department Store”. “Until The End” (2024) released on Paradijs Boogie, a sub-label of German outlet Freund der Familie, is the third album within 3 years. Closer to imaginative and ambient - infused house, this long player also features collaborations with the like-minded artists Ben Kaczor and Soela. “Movements…” was released on Stólar, his 2020-founded imprint. Bringing his own label to life meant creating a whole alternative universe without compromises and confinements, a necessity for the artist. Stólar focuses on Deep House and adjacent styles, presenting artists that Priebe appreciates and invites to contribute. Remixes, by and for friends, play a substantial role in the curation. In recent times he featured Molly, Lawrence and Ben Kaczor on the label. Seeing Stólar as his heritage, Philipp puts extra effort into its visual appearance, collaborating with artists that support his vision through distinct artworks. For most releases, Jules Villbrandt creates pieces that go beyond being mere album covers, but are authentic works of art by themselves. In Priebe’s work, audible and visual elements intertwine, both figuratively and evocatively. A variety of images and sentiments are expressed through the narratives he composes, engaging the audience much like a piece of prose—only on the dance floor.Their RA profile lists Freund der Familie, Greyscale, AE Recordings and Stólar.Recently at Ikii, OYE Kreuzkoelln, Paloma · often with Cecilia Tosh, karim, nudos, none of them here on Friday

Ever since the early 2000’s, both producers have been channeling their music through this now iconic moniker – an ever-growing experimental ground in the midsts of electronic music’s history. In a nutshell, their productions pay tribute to the provenance of a dance floor based on deepness, dub and melancholy. The result? Tracks nobody on this planet can ignore, let alone want to. To make this happen, Rakete and Hunger founded a record label of the same name in 2007. Since then, they keep busy 24/7 – as producers, A&R and remixers. A labour of love, focussing on the sometimes heavily pumping, sometimes gently pulsing heritage of the Golden Era of a concept of deepness both fuzzy and cloudy. There – and there only – real feelings are to be found, waiting to be harvested and re-contextualised. What originally started as an outlet for their own music, quickly became a platform for friends and acquaintances as well. A safe space for those who not only feel the same way musically as Rakete and Hunger, but also appreciate the holism of their artistic approach, be it artwork, formats or communication. This approach is centered around the concept of friendship – and visualized by an ever so slightly grinning robot. This guy is both FDF’s CI and an allegory. Can technology become somewhat human? The answer is yes. And it does not require a sophisticated AI – some with heart and mind wired circuits will do the trick just fine. Just as it was back then, when the musical cosmos for which FREUND DER FAMILIE today rose up out of the primordial soup of warehouse parties, bright drinks and naive uncompromisingness. Roots last the longest. FREUND DER FAMILIE produces and publishes for those who don’t want to forget history and at the same time have no fear of the future. A robot watches over them – forever. text by thaddeus herrmannTheir RA profile lists Mental Groove, Freude Am Tanzen, Echocord, Freund der Familie and 6 more.
