Truncate is the project of Los Angeles DJ and producer David Flores, whose roots stretch back to Southern California’s warehouse and rave scene of the early ’90s. Built around raw, stripped-back techno, his sound is defined by tightly engineered grooves, hypnotic repetition and an instinct for getting maximum impact from minimal elements. Decades of DJing and production feed into an approach that remains direct, functional and unmistakably connected to the dancefloor. On Saturday, October 17th, Elli Acula returns to ROBUS with EUPHORIA SESSIONS for a special edition of XTRUDE. For her part of the night, Elli invites Chris Liebing, Phil Berg live and Gina Demarchi, while we bring Truncate, Windfuhr and more to the floor. Chris Liebing is on the creative hot streak of his life. It’s now 30 years since his rocket ride through the dancefloors of global techno begun – but the current phase encapsulated on the 2026 Evolver album pulls together all the reasons he always loved what he does, all the things he’s learned, and a new-found confidence born of deep introspection, and channels it all into focusing and intensifying his DJ and production superpowers. The exact same energy he threw into his early residencies at the foundational techno temples Omen (Frankfurt) and Tresor (Berlin) is there, but enhanced with all technological advances and study of what moves ravers worldwide, it feels as vivid and important as ever. Chris grew up in a small town outside Frankfurt. As a boy he was always uncertain of himself yet was compelled to focus on what interested him. He pursued playing tennis to a very high level and felt that might be his path – but absolute obsession with music compelled him even more. From listening alone and deeply at home, through pause button cassette DJing at teenage parties, to a residency at a commercial club on the fringe of Frankfurt with rickety decks balanced on the bar, his desire to be surrounded by the sounds he loved, and also to work out the techniques that could draw others into what he was hearing and keep them locked in to it. A job at Sven Väth’s Eye-Q label led to a fortuitous chance in late 1995 to fill in for a last minute drop out in The Omen – which he smashed so convincingly he quickly became a big local name. His break at Tresor came in almost identical circumstances, and from then on he has been a watchword for the most fundamental, sweat-drenched, joyously powerful European techno which he has taken to dark cellars and vast festivals the world over. His productions, labels and radio / podcast work have likewise kept the faith for the pure, energetic forms of techno whatever trends have risen and fallen. Brooklyn-based DJ and producer Clarisa Kimskii has cemented her musical footprint on the borough since moving back in 2022. Through a palpable blend of psychedelic and driving techno, Clarisa’s approach to the genre is deeply idiosyncratic - an assemblage of both timeless and modern grooves. As a producer, Clarisa has contributed to a handful of respected labels (Monday Off, Dusk & Haze, Mysteries of the Deep, etc.) within her sonic niche, but it’s through her own label L.A.G where the ethos of her sound truly takes form - a detailed variation of propulsive and atmospheric soundscapes. Clarisa is deeply rooted in the techno subculture’s underground, and in early 2022 - the 20+ year veteran was named resident DJ of the Brooklyn-based, queer party Merge. After being introduced to electronic music back in the early 90's in Los Angeles, a teenage David Flores was hooked. He started DJing across Southern California on the DIY warehouses, desert, and rave circuit. His style then was as varied as the local scene - a myriad of sounds ranging from house to acid to techno to hardcore. After a few years solely DJing, he began releasing original music under the moniker Audio Injection, which landed on labels such as Monoid, Stimulus, 4 Track & LA label Droid Recordings. His association with Droid Behavior began in 2003 and continues today as resident at the infamous and internationally acclaimed Interface event series alongside Drumcell and Raiz. In early 2011, he started the project 'Truncate' to focus on the deeper, raw side of techno. His Truncate releases have been gain critical acclaim from world class underground talent such as Modeselektor, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, DVS1, Luke Slater, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, East Everything, Jooris Voorn, and many more. Since then, he has provided remixes for artists across the musical spectrum including Kink! for Pets Recordings, Slam for Soma, and Trus’me for Prime Numbers. He has also released original tracks on 50 Weapons and on Ultramajic as a collaboration with Jimmy Edgar. A rigorous international tour schedule has followed, including included stops at the most prestigious venues and events, including Berghain in Berlin, Fabric in London, Concrete in Paris, The Movement Festival in Detroit, Womb in Tokyo, Dimensions Festival in Croatia, Awakenings in Amsterdam and Output in New York. Windfuhr is a Berlin based DJ and Eerste Communie resident. Guided by the rhythm of drums, his musical journey is defined by hypnotic introspections and consistent energy flow. It is precisely the union of these elements which allows the mind to wander and the body to keep moving. A strictly warm and organic sound, dominated by low frequencies and percussive elements is Windfuhr’s signature touch. Music as a tool - to explore himself and to build a dialogue with the audience. His Guadeloupean heritage enables him to capture and adapt the musical tradition of `Gwo Ka‘ - which in Creole means “big drum”- into each one of his mixes. Gwo Ka is the combination of sound and movement through the rhythms played on the drums and the dances of the audience.
