The electronic music duo Space Afrika has been working towards the latter for years. With Quiet Storm, Joshua Tarelle Reid and Joshua Inyang present their most ambitious studio album to date, on release this September on Dais Records. Produced between Manchester, Berlin, and with a wide network of contributors, the sound shifts between ambient, soul, trip-hop, contemporary composition, and the lingering echoes of Black musical traditions, without ever settling into any one genre. What emerges are interstices, intricate arrangements composed of voices, bass sounds, silences and memories.

The release show featuring special guests, like the British Sopranist Nardus Williams and the Artist Bapari, will present Quiet Storm live at Berlin’s Volksbühne in a world premiere.

“With their slow-stepping, spacious urban dubscapes, Space Afrika harness ambient, Detroit techno and shades of early nineties Sheffield with a fresh and open approach to composition — this is dub techno stripped-down, sealed in a time capsule and sent back from the near future.”

With their slow-stepping, spacious urban dubscapes, Space Afrika harness ambient, Detroit techno and shades of early nineties Sheffield with a fresh and open approach to composition — this is dub techno stripped-down, sealed in a time capsule and sent back from the near future. Driving, echo-laden deep beats form the bed for a heavily subaquatic sound palette with undercurrents of cybernetic dread. Friends for almost 2 decades, the two Joshuas formed Space Afrika after years of listening to music together, sequestered by harsh Northern winters. Heavily inspired by the industrial architecture of Northwest England and notions of travel, their sonic framework evokes images of rust and disintegrating concrete, and sensations of movement and redemption — exuding a distorted analogue soul offering escape into their overcast skies. Closely associated with Brighton/London label, Where to Now?, who slink along a vintage axis of post-punk, On-U Sound, minimal and no wave influences, Space Afrika's diverse and creative radio shows (notably their residencies on NTS and Reform Radio) also display a breadth of curiosities in experimental and avant-garde music, old and new.
Their RA profile lists Where To Now?, Dais Records and Sferic.

j@pluralartistmanagement.com Bapari is a musical force known for their heady dance tracks, cheekily disruptive pop edits, and hard-hitting DJ sets that blend techno, jungle, garage, club, hip-hop, and IDM in unexpected ways. A Grammy-award winning producer for their work on Eusexua by FKA twig's, Bapari pushes experimentation within electronic music to the edge, exploring all outcomes, from unique underground club tracks to evocative sonic landscapes. Bapari’s most recent project “Evermore” (Halcyon Veil, 2025) saw them pick up the mic and live guitar, featuring Ari’s hauntingly original vocals for the first time while exploring ‘90s influences of shoegaze, trip hop, and R&B. Born in Los Angeles to Haitian immigrants, Bapari found their way into music as a DJ in downtown LA’s underground party scene in the mid-2010s. Since then, They have released four EPs; collaborated with FKA Twigs, Eartheater, Kelsey Lu, Lolahol, and more; opened for Steve Lacy in Australia and Japan; and toured extensively as a DJ in North America, Europe, and Asia. Their work has been featured in DJ mag, Mixmag, Highsnobiety, Interview, Flaunt, Dancewax, and Resident Advisor, which named their 2021 track “Daybreak” a best-of-the-year. Touring highlights include headlining Boiler Room five times; festival appearances at Sonic Acts, Dweller, and Primavera; museum shows at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (London) and MoCA (Los Angeles); and club nights at Knockdown Center (NYC), Tresor (Berlin), Parkingstone (Paris), Mitsuki (Tokyo), Le Fag (Melbourne), Spiritual Sauna (Milan), TUNNEL (LA), and many more. Bapari has shared lineups with artists like Shygirl, Yves Tumor, LSDXOXO, and horsegiirL.
