Coming from a musician family—her grandfather a composer in the GDR, her grandmother his lyricist, and her mother a DJ & former club worker in Berlin—she grew up surrounded by music and the pulse of nightlife. Her sound is raw yet refined, emotional yet physical—a fusion of hypnotic, tribal, and industrial techno, staying true to her rhythmic roots while carving out a distinct space in the underground. With a background in dance, she approaches music as movement—each set unfolding through tension and release. Splitting her time between Berlin and Mexico City for the past 7 years, MASCHA has become a vital force in both scenes. She hosted LIEBE on Aire Libre 105.3 FM, curates MUSTER on THF Radio, and in 2025 debuted her first live set with an orchestra, merging classical instrumentation with techno’s raw pulse. A dedicated advocate for queer and FLINTA* communities, MASCHA has led DJ workshops and panels in Germany, Mexico, and Honduras, fostering inclusion and amplifying new voices in electronic music. Known for performing behind a signature mask, he erases the personal to amplify the music, letting rhythm, texture, and atmosphere shape the experience. From Berlin’s storied venues to his own curated events, Tehotu has forged a path that prioritizes anonymity, and raw energy. His vision for techno resonates across the underground, from Berghain to cutting-edge labels like Analog Solution, Float, Nechto, or Ear to Ground, guiding him to collaborate with and release music alongside key figures in the scene while gaining support from major players in the industry. Recently settled in Paris, Tehotu is entering a new phase, seeking to redefine his sound and presence, merging the shadows of the underground with fresh perspectives.
