Carrie Sours

one ahead · Cleveland

She is currently a crew member of the “Sweet Abyss” event series alongside Kiernan Laveaux, Malzof, and Davis Galvin, showcasing local and international transgender, queer, and esoteric electronic music performances in a relaxed community setting at Bantha Tea Bar. She is also a resident DJ at Mary’s, hosting the recurring events “Carrie-oke” and “Moody B*tch Disco”. She released her debut EP "Advanced Yearning" on her own SOURS Label in 2025.

She began her record collection at age 4 and came of age in smoke-filled music shops; throughout the 2010s she became involved in Cleveland’s underground hip-hop and electronic music scenes including vanguard queer parties at infamous punk venue Now That’s Class. With a voracious and irreverent approach to genre, she describes her sound as “moody & funky”, fusing emotional and psychedelic dance music with sensual grooves, post-punk, and private press records with an approach born of the DIY, glamour-free creative environment of the Midwest. She loves listening to, playing, and discovering music; along with bakery, sauna, the sounds of birds, and silliness as a sanity play.

In addition to her regular event schedule, she has brought her talents to Hot Mass, Bad Sauna, last year’s “Splish Splash” pride party, Cleveland’s Crobar, DC’s Free Pussy party, lesbian arm-wrestling tournaments, public pools, and youth ice-skating competitions.
