Her calm, commanding skill as a selector rapidly led to appearances at premier festivals like Fusion, Nation of Gondwana, and Garbicz, and residencies at Berlin's legendary Kater club and the former Station Endlos in Halle. Since then, she has transcended the boundaries of the Berlin underground, bringing her standout style to the international circuit from Mexico to Kazakhstan.

What sets Mila's high-intensity brand of Techno apart is a willingness to embrace unorthodox sounds and explore the beauty in harshness and dissonance. Sharpening her vision and increasing the intensity over the years, she has since gravitated toward more hypnotic, percussion-heavy forms. Channeling raw and restless momentum that holds space without demanding it, her otherworldly soundscapes and unrelenting kinetic energy merge deliberate bluntness with a beautifully refined and eclectic array of sounds. As a DJ, she transports the same directness: from high-energy peak-time appearances to the mesmeric extended closings she became known for, Mila's sets deliver purist energy arcs that encapsulate the non-judgmental freedom and expressiveness of the rave circuit free of nebulous superstructures.

The rest of it — one more paragraph

From the early days, Mila's sound has been informed by a sense of counterculture and breaking normative boundaries. She draws on risqué sounds, has boldly carved out her niche, and relentlessly pursues her vision despite the antagonism female DJs and producers faced in the late 2000s and still do today. As a DJ, producer, event organizer, former radio host, and stage curator, she pushes the envelope, rejects the status quo, and is driven to take her aesthetic to the limit. Few artists move on the fringe so comfortably, make avant-garde so accessible, or pursue their vision with the same bright-eyed conviction. Mila Stern brings her groove-driven eclecticism to sound systems across the world, challenging paradigms in dance music, and forging a genre of her own.
