His music moves a dancefloor the way a great soundtrack moves through a game, laced with a melancholic imagination that listeners clock immediately. The tracks are brought to life through visualizations from longtime collaborator Nam Mac, whose work channels similar influence— together they've built a world for listeners to get lost in, one that's been synced with campaigns for Marc Jacobs' Heavn, Adidas, and G-Shock. The breakout moment came during a support set for Sammy Virji at Elsewhere in Brooklyn, when a clip of wev's edit of the Cowboy Bebop theme "TANK!" went viral, racking up tens of millions of streams and extending his universe through the same kind of playful reference that defines his production. That connection has come full circle through games themselves— "watchyaback!" became a standout on the OST of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, the critically acclaimed spiritual successor to Jet Set Radio, and "shigoto werk" was placed in Rocket League in early 2026. Built independently and grown organically from New York and Tokyo outward, his debut album OST— as in original soundtrack, the format that first carried this music to him and now the definitive statement of his own, arrives May 2026. The album traces dance music's lineage through the games that carried it to a new generation, then brings it back to the source. wev has toured internationally, with a debut album run spanning North America, Asia, and Europe planned for 2026.often with nextdimensional, OSSX, Stonie Blue, none of them here that night

their own biography
the whole biography
Gabriel Etrata's journey as a DJ is rooted in his background playing guitar, bass, piano, and drums. His favorite artists growing up include Jimi Hendrix, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine, The Beatles, Tame Impala, J. Dilla, and NaS. His multi-instrumentalist background led him to music production where he developed an interest in sample-based, beat making, and eventually DJing/turntablism. The key moment he attributes to his development as a DJ is his attendance at the 2019 Goldie Awards. Witnessing the battle and the routines of legendary X-Executioners, Rob Swift and Mista Sinista, inspired him to pick up 1200s, records, and a mixer the following week. He continues to train in turntablism, receiving mentorship from Rob Swift's Brolic Army DJ School, and hopes to compete in a battle one day. He can be found spinning at various venues and events across NYC. In addition to music, Gabriel Etrata is a multidisciplinary artist and does work in photo/video. He is a member of BARANGAY (@barangay.co), an international creative collective based in New York City.Recently at Mood Ring, Pianos · often with Jay Dalawa, Alcantara, DJ Houseplants, none of them here that night
