“Ron Trent emerged from Chicago’s house music lineage as a teenage prodigy, releasing the seminal track Altered States at just 14.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Ron Trent emerged from Chicago’s house music lineage as a teenage prodigy, releasing the seminal track Altered States at just 14. Deeply influenced by his father’s record pool and steeped in both DJing and percussion, he co-founded the groundbreaking label Prescription in the early 1990s. Its soulful, emotive palette helped shape the sound of deep house and inspired generations of producers. After relocating to New York, Trent made his mark at Body & Soul, Shelter, and later as a resident at Giant Step’s Shine, where he fused house, jazz-funk, neo-soul, and global rhythms into a signature sound. As a producer and curator, Ron has worked with icons across soul, jazz, and world music including Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Tony Allen, Amp Fiddler, and 4hero. His imprints Electric Blue and Future Vision expanded his range—embracing both experimental and collaborative projects. Known for his reinterpretations of popular tracks like “Honey” and “Spring Summer Feeling,” his remixes carry a distinctive, spiritual edge. A regular at respected venues like Berghain, ADE, Brilliant Corners, and Japan’s AIR, Trent is a revered presence on the global audiophile circuit. Committed to preserving Chicago’s cultural heritage, he founded SODA in 2016 to support underground music through education and events. The initiative played a central role in projects like the Move Your Body exhibit and the Silver Room Block Party. Most recently, Trent teamed up with Joe Claussell to form the Sacred Medicine label, a conduit for transcendent, healing-oriented music that blends Afro-Latin rhythms, ambient jazz, and ceremonial dancefloor energy. In 2022, under the alias WARM, Trent released What Do The Stars Say To You, a downtempo exploration featuring Jean-Luc Ponty, Gigi Masin, Khruangbin, and members of Azymuth, reflecting his lifelong connection to spiritual soundscapes. In 2025, he embarks on an extensive international tour alongside the release of Lift Off on Rush Hour—a decade-in-the-making album that expands his visionary legacy through bold collaborations and expansive compositions. That same year, his remix of Soul II Soul’s “A Dream’s a Dream” earned a Grammy nomination for Best Remixed Recording, further underscoring his enduring influence as a bridge between eras of soulful innovation. Nearly 35 years since Afterlife, Ron Trent remains a vital architect of soulful, future-facing music.Their RA profile lists Peacefrog, Statra Recordings, Mojuba, Prescription and 6 more.Recently at Knockdown Center, public records · often with MUSCLECARS, Lovie, Gilles Peterson, none of them here that night
“Not to mention being co- founder of the famed Robots parties and amusing us weekly as Robot Radio's alluring and witty host.”

Not to mention being co- founder of the famed Robots parties and amusing us weekly as Robot Radio's alluring and witty host. Within the world of electronic music everyone has a tale about our friend Bill Patrick. Some funny, some sad, some tragic, most shady, but at the end of each story or any encounter with this demi god you're left wanting more. In 2008, this mythical creature, who by chance was reborn a man, relocated to Berlin. Why? Few know. Some say it was in search of gold, some suggest it was out of self-loathing, those in his inner circle say it was to be closer to them. He says it was to challenge the European state of mind and how sexually active they, as a people, can become. In any event all legend and lore were left behind. So where has that left this man, this nu-romantic? I'll tell you, striving to be more. It doesn't matter that the only places he now plays are festivals like Sunwaves in Romania, Outline Festival in Moscow or highly respected clubs like Closer Kiev, Robert Johnson and Concrete in Paris. After a much talked about 31 hour set at Sunwaves Festival in 2016, Bill and his partner in crime, tINI, have teamed up as Rolls “N” Do and now find themselves thrust into a whirlwind of high profile gigs. Currently touring the globe and vocally enlightening the Universe, Bill still finds time to keep his Instagram up to date and send out wildly entertaining content across all platforms. Not to mention, producing a monthly radio show, Chaotic Neutral, on OpenLab Radio and curating playlists for boutique hotels such as Hotels Costes in Paris, Baba Beach Club in Thailand and Guldsmeden Hotel in Berlin. But he wants to step out of his box and come to you, to educate the minds of the world with his deep, psychedelic take on contemporary dance music. - Words by Seth TroxlerLast at Circle Line Cruises in Sep · often with Kiyoshi, Gui Machado, DJ Healthy, none of them here that night

“To many of you, ERIS may be a project that need very little introduction.”

To many of you, ERIS may be a project that need very little introduction. But if not, we'll help you get to know this unparalleled duo.. Enrica Falqui has been a very active contributor to Europe's electronic music scene for many years through DJ performances and alias releases. Having a passion for spending long sessions in her studio and for obsessive musical experimentation, an impromptu session with Dea Dvornik, someone she met for the first time that same night, would mark the start of a burning new artistic journey for them both. Dea's life has always revolved and been influenced by music and is now an art form that is at her core. As a talented musician, Dea's style and ear for melody was something that Enrica found very unique and the two began to create together. Their unreleased music was picked up by the illustrious DJ Masda and So Inagawa, label bosses of one of Cabaret Recordings. Eris' music was revealed to the world in the form of their debut and sophomore records "Moments" and "Champions League" which put the project on the radar within electronic music. What's more, the duo managed to forge a collective DJ'ing style with a distinctly unique club-perfect sound that saw them become one of the most sought after invitees at many of the world's best parties.Their RA profile lists 20/20 Vision, Cabaret Recordings, WARNING and Plexus 4.often with Daura, Onirik, Lis Dalton, none of them here that night

“Some DJs burst upon the scene like a supernova, fading just as quickly.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Some DJs burst upon the scene like a supernova, fading just as quickly. Others take years, even decades, to make their way—but those are the ones who make the most impact, thanks to a lifetime of accumulated musical wisdom. Mike Servito is a prime example of the latter. His career is one that’s defined by a slow and steady rise to upper ranks of the deejaying realm—and along the way, he’s perfected a jacking style that equal parts house, acid and techno, a sound that pays homage to the past while being very much of-the-moment. A Detroit-area native, Servito got his early education by tuning into the Electrifying Mojo and the Wizard (Jeff Mill’s radio moniker). By the early ’90s, Servito was primed to try his hand at the deejaying arts, “I was just kind of cocky about it,” he says. “I knew I could do it.” And he was right—in the DJ hotbed of Detroit, internalizing knowledge gleamed from the likes of Mike Huckaby and Claude Young, he kept working at it until he established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the Motor City circuit, eventually becoming a member in good standing with the inner circle of Ghostly International. But Servito felt the need for a change from the sometimes insular environment of Detroit. By the late ’00s, he was living in NYC with no real game plan in place. As it turned out, he didn’t really need one—he soon fell in with the city’s premier techno party, The Bunker, becoming one of its mainstay residents. Around the same time, he was beginning to make his presence known on a global scale, packing dance floors with gigs around the States and around the world. But it was a hometown festival snub in 2014 that really got things going. Servito had played Movement once before, in 2011. “And between then and 2014,” he recalls, “I had been playing so many Bunker parties, playing so many great gigs and my profile was rising—so I was sure they would book me again.” The invite never came. Instead, he booked himself at every Movement after-party he could, one of which was the annual No Way Back, a legendary throw down hosted by The Bunker New York and Detroit’s Interdimensional Transmissions label. The set, a riotously sweaty bleeps-and-beats affair, was recorded for posterity; unexpectedly but deservedly, it garnered a nod as the year’s No 1 online Mix of the Year on Resident Advisor. That was the spark that set Servito’s career aflame, the push that took him to the top. Since then, he’s cemented his status as one of the most respected spinners around, regularly manning the decks at such hallowed halls as Berlin’s Panorama Bar, London’s XOYO and Tokyo’s Contact, not to mention the world’s best festivals—including, of course Movement. And to this day, his approach to deejaying is refreshingly simple: “I really don’t think about it,” he says, “When I’m playing, I just dive in, and I’m OK.” He’s far more than okay—he’s one of the best around.Techno on 7, Acid on 5, House on 5 and Acid House on 3. styles on their catalogued releasesReleased on The Bunker New York (2) and Interdimensional Transmissions (1); their RA profile also lists Firehouse and Honey Soundsystem. labels on their catalogued releases and on their RA profileRecently at Good Room, public records, The Chocolate Factory · often with Shaun J. “A triple threat who lights up a room when behind the decks, in the studio and on stage, TORIBIO is a lifelong student of rhythm.”
their own biography
the whole biography
A triple threat who lights up a room when behind the decks, in the studio and on stage, TORIBIO is a lifelong student of rhythm. Analyzing melodies and chords with a musician's ear, the Dominican-American artist blends different genres and moods in all his creative pursuits–DJing, producing, singing, playing instruments, and even his skills on the mic. Thanks to a childhood spent playing in church and jazz drumming, the Florida-born, New York-based act has a natural sense of harmony. He takes on the role of musical cartographer in his Afro-Latin band, Conclave, whose debut album was named one of Resident Advisor's best in 2021 and praised by both Rolling Stone and the New Yorker. Acting as the ensemble's bandlander, vocalist, and key instrumentalist, TORIBIO connects jazz, soul, and house from various cultures with style and grace. His speciality in sonic connections are especially tangible in his DJing. Gliding from pan-Latin club to raw electro to jazz to old-school funk, his sets are a masterclass in building energy and tension. Whether playing Boiler Room or clubs in Mexico City and Tokyo, he knows how to work a crowd with selections and transitions that are as precise as they are powerful. As a producer, his edits and originals are DJ weapons, rinsed by the likes of Gilles Peterson, Rich Medina, and Theo Parrish. His original tracks have been remixed by the likes of Louie Vega, Joe Claussell, and DJ Spinna. Known for fostering community through movement, his Brooklyn block parties (Public Service NYC) embody the spirit of New York’s dance culture while his newly formed imprint B.D.A. is quickly becoming known for bringing these vibes to vinyl. A TORIBIO show is a full-body experience— as he always says, “bring dat ass, and your feet will follow.”House on 16, Deep House on 6, Disco on 6 and Downtempo on 6. styles on their catalogued releasesReleased on BDA (4) (2) and Bastard Jazz Recordings (1); their RA profile also lists BBE, Fool's Gold, Darker Than Wax, Razor-N-Tape and 4 more. labels on their catalogued releases and on their RA profileRecently at public records, Kings Hall - Avant Gardner, Good Room · often with Mickey Perez, Love Injection, MUSCLECARS, none of them here that night

“Born in 1981 in a tiny town of the Pre-Ural region, Votkinsk.”
their own biography

Born in 1981 in a tiny town of the Pre-Ural region, Votkinsk. Andrey made his way to the worldwide underground scene by collecting and successfully playing vinyl records for over 25 years. A vinyl collector, his special and deep taste for sound is recognizable and respected in more than 60 countries. From Australia to the US, South America, Asia, and Africa. The career of a professional DJ started at the age of 15. Despite limited resources of getting any alternative information on underground culture and music before and after the Soviet Union collapsed, his passion for electronic sound still developed rapidly and evolved into dedicating his whole life to it. Constant searches and desire to share precious finds involved in a life’s time work so now he is spinning vinyl in clubs, all-scale festivals, and broadcasting at Boiler Room, Mixmag Lab, and live streams. In 2006, he became a resident DJ of the unique web radio DeepMix.ru which was broadcasting non-commercial techno music for free and without any advertising to listeners from 53 countries till the end of the summer of 2011. In 2013, he appeared as the main protagonist of the documentary film Kvadrat which explores the realities of DJing, shot by Anatoliy Ivanov in 5 countries. This movie had a huge impact on the underground community because it showed the other, more vulnerable side of the profession and revealed a romanticized illusion of the life of an electronic artist. As a producer, He mainly focuses now on ambient and dub sound, as an opportunity to state an inward-outward message, not influenced by short-lived hype. The releases and remixes can be found at labels like Circus Company, Endless, Lessizmore, and Thule Records. Also, he is producing and curating music for his label, Luck of Access which was opened in 2017 and provides a space for artists to reveal the unknown sides of their musical style.Their RA profile lists Circus Company, LesIzmo:r, Endless, Thule and 5 more.often with Stavi, Voiski, Max Dowd, none of them here that night

In Houston, Chow co-founded Crossroads, then one of Texas’ longest-running dance parties. The series became a proving ground for uncompromising international and regional artists alongside deeply rooted local talent, helping shape a sustainable, late-night culture. After arriving in Brooklyn in 2017, Chow re-established Crossroads with a series of events at the now defunct TBA Brooklyn. Years later Chow teamed up with Dianna Loevner, Samuel FIsh, and Dyllon Young to help create the underground outfit Mizz Softee. In the studio, Chow first cut his teeth in the early 2000s, releasing an EP on Marco Carola's seminal techno imprint, Zenit. Having already released on Mari.te’s Tresydos imprint and Basic Moves' sub label For Playful Manners, French-born artist Penelope has slowly grown her presence in the underground music panorama over the past years. Always with a thirst for new horizons to fuel her creativity, she moved to Berlin for some years where she spent time refining her taste around heavy undulating basslines, arping synths and body rocking drums. Penelope’s sound is a unique expression of her broad sonic tastes that range from house to techno and all electronic experimentation in between. Her cosmic, often dreamy, sometimes pitch black musical direction is fantastically tempered with outrageously diverse moods and basslines to die for. When behind the decks, she can often be seen with a glint in her eye and playful smirk on her face as she knows the reaction her bombs will have when they drop. Based in Lisbon since 2018, she also has built a solid foundation in her new adopted city. Founder of the oDYSea parties and platform, she is a familiar face of the Portuguese scene as well as in European clubs and festivals.Their RA profile lists Basic Moves and tresydos.often with The Alley, Kiyoshi, Seb Hall, none of them here that night

Born of Indian and American heritage, Solana's upbringing was steeped in the rich tapestry of classical and world music, courtesy of her familial influences. She studied piano, flute, and voice, yet felt constrained by their limitations in expressing the kaleidoscope within her soul. During her teenage years, she was exposed to commercial trance anthems and some random techno sets from older friends, but it wasn't until she encountered the transcendent realms of Fabric, the sonic landscapes of Ricardo Villalobos, Perlon, James Holden, and other high-quality artists including the raw energy of Detroit and Chicago that her true musical odyssey began. It was a transformative year-long backpacking odyssey through Southeast Asia that set Solana on her path. Amidst the majestic Austrian Alps, she found herself amidst a vibrant community of UK ravers, immersed in the pulsating heartbeat of dance music culture. For fourteen years, Solana meticulously curated her sonic palette collecting records, drawing inspiration from deep house to dub techno, microhouse to drum 'n bass. Her journey was one of collector to selector, as she danced through legendary venues like Berghain, Club Der Visionaere, Robert Johnson, and other hallowed spaces. Yet, it's in the present moment that Solana finds her true calling. In 2023, she founded AIRPLANE MODE, a label and event series dedicated to fostering immersive experiences that transcend time and space. AIRPLANE MODE isn't just about the music; it's a movement, a philosophy urging all to embrace the present and savor each fleeting moment. Solana's DJ sets are a testament to her eclectic tastes and boundless creativity, weaving together diverse genres and rhythms. She has united dancers around the globe, playing at events hosted by Resolute, Robot Heart, Apollo Studio, Elegantly Wasted (Sofia), Meadows in the Mountains festival (Bulgaria), Black Rhino Radio (Bucharest), Golden Record, and H0L0. Join Solana on her journey as she spreads sunshine and joy through the power of music. Jay Prouty (Brooklyn Sway, Praxis, Dojo Sessions, Cenote Records, NYC) Frankie Knuckles once said: “The minute you think you’re greater than the music you’re finished”. Most of us are still trying to identify the description of the term underground in today’s diversified world of electronic music, but Jay has mastered the description. His dj sets are a constant reminder that music is greater than us. Jay is a house music dj, producer, and vinyl connoisseur with over 20 years of experience, currently living in Brooklyn, NYC. He relocated to the Big Apple from Boston where he played an integral role in the development of the house music scene by exposing the city to new and up-coming artists: including first appearances by Booka Shade, Peace Division, Seth Troxler, Dyed Soundorom, and many more. As a dj, Jay held residencies at some of Boston’s most prominent clubs inducing Avalon and Rise Afterhours. Currently Jay is a regularly in the NYC and Washington DC club scenes with previous appearances at Output and regular appearances at TBA Brooklyn and Flash in DC, where he hosts a monthly event titled “Brooklyn Sway”, which showcases local Brooklyn underground heads. His all vinyl dj sets are a journey through the history of house music, weaving in the old with the new, with a focus on hypnotic rhythms and old skool acapellas. His recent production efforts include a well-received vinyl only EP titled "Dojo Sessions Vol. 1" with David Paglia, a single titled "Style" released on Boston-based Cenote records, a single on Soul Clap’s sister label and compilation DJ’s for Climate Change titled “Pelican”, a forthcoming remix for Brooklyn based band Kamalata, as well as an EP with Brooklyn-based artist After Touch. www.soundcloud.com/jayprouty http://cenoterecords.com/artist/jay-prouty/ Dojo Sessions Vol.1 https://soundcloud.com/davidpaglia/sets/dojo-sessions-volume-1-dojo-vinyl Style (Cenote Records) https://www.beatport.com/track/style-original-mix/7081897House on 8, Acid House on 4, Minimal on 3 and Tech House on 3. styles on their catalogued releasesTheir RA profile lists Cenote Records.Recently at ZION, Jupiter Disco, Mansions · often with Asha Jasz, DeWinter, Elon, none of them here that night

"I look at my job as a modern day traveling minstrel, to bring new music to as many places as I can, and expose obscure records that, otherwise, might go hidden." While Mark Farina may be able to sum up his job description in a sentence, there is much more to be written. Mark developed his musical tastes in Chicago - listening to house music on the radio, living in one of the country's most primordial breeding grounds for house. Around '88, while record shopping at Imports, Etc., he met Derrick Carter and a friendship began. "I just ended up there between classes, I ended up buying his picks. He steered me toward the cutting edge House producers of the time." "I started playing when I lived with my parents and didn't have any bills to pay so I could just buy records. My intentions were never to just make money, it's nice, but it's kind of turned into a job by accident - it was a hobby that turned into a job." Living together and working on tracks together along with Chris Nazuka, they utilized the tight connections between the Detroit and Chicago scenes. Fondly, Mark remembers hanging out listening to Detroit Techno classics - Model 500, Derrick May - eating bologne sandwiches on white bread and drinking Kool-Aid out of a paper cup, prepared by none other than Chef Saunderson himself. In '89, they signed on Kevin Saunderson's KMS Records under the Symbols in Instruments moniker and produced a landmark track called "Mood". "Mood" sold 35,000+ copies in the US and the UK. This record was the first ambient house track ever made and, accordingly, it has taken its position as a classic. The same year, The Face magazine published their year end Top 50 with "Mood" ranking above pop anthems by Dee-Lite and The Pet Shop Boys. "I used to do mixes with Derrick on the radio at Northwestern, we'd make it at the house and listen to it on the lake where they filmed 'Risky Business'. We would drive around and listen 89.3 WNUR; they had a policy, guest DJs didn't have to be students." Eventually, the University changed their policy and only students were allowed to DJ. When Farina first started wandering from his passion for the purist forms of House into what grew into one of his trademark styles, Mushroom Jazz, he was playing the main room in a club in Chicago and got demoted to the B-room after playing too many Martin Luther King Jr. samples. Mark experimented with a deeper style, dropping De La Soul, disco classics and other stuff that wasn't being played in the main room. However, in 1992, Mark found a welcome place for his collection of downtempo tunes accompanied by a small run of mix tapes entitled "Mushroom Jazz". Originally launched as a cassette series, the Mushroom Jazz tapes grew from the first Chicago run of 50 copies each…on to the next stage, where 500 copies of several volumes were easily distributed and sought after. As the Acid Jazz boom began, he perfected his sound and fused the newest tracks from the West Coast's jazzy, organic producers with the more urban sounds he had championed in Chicago. While the predominant musical force in SF was still dark, dubby House and Wicked-style Breaks, the city embraced the downtempo movement with a healthy bunch of live bands and DJs generating the tunes. Mark Farina, along with partner, and manager, Patty Ryan-Smith, created the now legendary weekly club in San Francisco, Mushroom Jazz, in 1992. Every Monday night the crowd slowly germinated - from 100 for the first few months to 600-700 two years later. As time passed, Farina and Patty put their energies into another project, the first Mushroom Jazz interactive CD-ROM for Om Records. After a three year run, where the club had established a fanatical, cult-like following for Farina and the Mushroom Jazz sound, the club closed its doors and transformed into a CD series and accompanying tours. Since 1989, Mark Farina has been traveling the globe performing at literally hundreds of shows a year, sometimes DJing both of his preferred styles in two different rooms at the same party. At other events, he's been known to play extended sets that lasted over eight hours. In his House sets, Mark is known for his uniquely effortless journeys on the jazzy side of Chicago House, mixed up San Fran style. This wandering record minstrel has played to incredible crowds all over the globe. Consistently drawing new fans to his style of chunky-funky rhythms and deep underground house, Mark plays upwards of 200 shows to over one million (1,000,000) club goers per year. Voted in the top 20 DJ's in the world by MUZIK and BPM Magazine, his taste making skills continue to turn the heads of seasoned veterans as well as youngsters just getting into the music. On CD, Mark has recorded both of his dominant musical personalities. His first mix, 'Mushroom Jazz' on Om Records, is defined by a hip-hop sub-groove with jazzy, dubby elements in the downtempo range. It was followed by 'Seasons', a critically acclaimed House mix. An Imperial Dub mixed CD, a guest slot in the pedigreed 'United DJs of America' series, 'Mushroom Jazz 2' (Om Records) and 'San Francisco Sessions, Vol. I' (Om Records) and Mushroom Jazz 3 (Om Records) to round out the Farina catalog. His past release "Connect" walks the line of San Francisco deeper and the bumpin' funky house sound of Chicago. Now, in November of 2002, Mark Farina releases his much beloved fourth volume of Mushroom Jazz.Their RA profile lists Om Records, Music For Freaks, Robsoul Recordings, Full Flavor Music and 3 more.Last at House of Yes in Nov · often with ZAINAB, Tinzo, Soul Summit Music, none of them here that night

Lauren Flax has been a lifelong musician, starting to play the drums at 8 years old before continuing on to guitar and bass in high school. She began her DJ career in the underground dance and rave scenes of Detroit as a resident at the Motor Lounge, playing every Tuesday night along with resident DJs Mike Servito, DJ Dilemma, Jason Kendig, and Derek Plaslaiko. Flax played the very first Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2000 on the Motor stage. While originally starting off as a jungle DJ, Flax evolved her style into a variety techno, house, and electro music. Flax moved to Chicago in 1999, where she honed in on music production while continuing to DJ. By 2002, she relocated again to Manhattan, which shortly followed the release of her first remix, "Much Finer" for Le Tigre. In 2018, Flax was introduced to DJ Haus by fellow Detroit musician and friend Jimmy Edgar, to which he quickly signed a record, resulting in "Dance Trax Vol. 16" (2018). In 2019, Flax joined the mostly Detroit-born New York collective The Bunker New York,[1] on which she released "One Man’s House is Another Woman’s Techno EP" (2019). The EP was highly successful and sold out quickly. Flax met with Brooklyn-based record label 2MR in 2019, curious to explore beyond the realm of dance music. She remixed 'Breathe' by label-mate Pale Blue, and that ended up inspiring Flax's new style of music. After the remix was released, Flax took to writing a 6 track EP, merging genres of ambient, acid house, and much more, set to come out in Summer 2021. Flax started touring the United States and Europe as a solo artist in 2019, performing live analog sets, pushing the boundaries of what a DJ is defined as.House on 39, Techno on 22, Acid House on 13 and Electro on 17. styles on their catalogued releasesReleased on WRKTRX (3), Aliens On Wax (1) and House Of Efunk Records (1); their RA profile also lists Defected Records, !K7, Toolroom Records, Nervous Records and 6 more. labels on their catalogued releases and on their RA profileRecently at House of Yes, Good Room, Nowadays · often with Sevyn 0000, Austin Kunis, Costume Design, none of them here that night
