    the whole biography
LUNÁTICA is a tribute project to the expression of the primal self, the sensual and defiant mind. Created by Luna Cattleya Calderon Asero, a Colombian-Chinese-American artist based in Providence, RI, LUNÁTICA embodies a unique sound and energy. Formerly known as Lunamariposa, she brings DJ sets and music productions that embrace the soul-stirring power of percussion, hydrating drum patterns, and rhythms that will make you find the groove in your heart. This artist has performed in Bogotá, Colombia; Antigua, Guatemala; New York City; the DMV area; Philadelphia; and Miami. Her primary terrain includes East Coast venues such as The MFA & ICA in Boston, Red Door, Mezzo, and Dancing Cats in Providence, as well as Elsewhere, Jupiter Disco, and Nowadays in NYC—her ambitions are set on expanding further. Even before discovering her passion for DJing and music production, Cattleya Asero was a dedicated supporter and an essential presence on the underground dancefloors of Boston, having moved there from Miami in 2015. By 2019, she had established herself as a regular DJ, bringing a sound that is irresistibly danceable, politically provocative, and unafraid to take risks, infusing her art with a strong and distinctive voice. A former contributor to Boston’s queer and DIY community, Cattleya was affiliated with Houseboi, Demo Radio, and Sakias— a collective of students that emerged from Harvard University. In addition to DJing, she played an active role behind the scenes. Now, after shortly living in nyc , she works alongside rising star and Brown University professor Madison Moor through Providence’s newest queer party, MISS KITTY, which centers People of Color. Asero also contributes to the music scene in PVD through her relationship with Symposium Records, founded by Scott MX and Jacob Hershel. Her reach extends even further through her involvement with the global collective GHETTO WITCHEZ, where she has tapped into music journalism, and writing music reviews
