the whole biography
Jay Dalawà is a Filipino-American DJ & producer with roots in the DMV and current resident of Queens (New York). Known for his distinctive blend of 90s house, funk, and soul, Jay captures the essence of New York’s vibrant club culture and underground scene with an unmistakable selecta flair. His sets are narrative-driven experiences, shaped by influences like The Basement Boys, Jojo Flores, and Ash Lauryn. As a core member of BARANGAY & Soul Kanto—collectives focused on bridging diasporic communities and connecting artists across the Philippines and the U.S. Through his work, he’s cultivating space for global exchange and building a future-facing sound rooted in heritage and collaboration. BARANGAY, founded in 2017, stands as a dynamic Filipino-American-owned creative collective, with a distinct vision embracing the rich tapestry of Filipino heritage while fostering global connections through creative and entertainment ventures. From visual arts to music, BARANGAY thrives on the fusion of diverse talents, making a space where international influences converge to amplify cultural awareness. BAHAY KUBO – where tradition meets celebration in the spirit of BAYANIHAN, transcending the typical party through a journey of empowerment and reclaiming our shared space. BAHAY KUBO is a warm embrace, inviting you to dance freely just as you would at home, communicated through house and disco music. Soul Kanto ("Soul Corner" in Tagalog), an installment of eclectic vinyl sets that span from OPM classics to house, disco, and more. It's a celebration of music, culture and community, powered by the soul of Filipino artistry.
