Who they are
“"This is a person who's done so much for the American and global grassroots dance movement ... thing is it doesn't stop in this curatorial generosity, because Boo Lean is also the sickest of DJs, naturally vibing between sonic schools to a mesmerizing result." -- Naive Boo Lean (Lauren Goshinski) is a DJ and curator who’s crafted some of the most forward-thinking dancefloors and AV shows over the past decade.”

"This is a person who's done so much for the American and global grassroots dance movement ... thing is it doesn't stop in this curatorial generosity, because Boo Lean is also the sickest of DJs, naturally vibing between sonic schools to a mesmerizing result." -- Naive Boo Lean (Lauren Goshinski) is a DJ and curator who’s crafted some of the most forward-thinking dancefloors and AV shows over the past decade. A trusted ear in more ways than one, she’s known behind the scenes as a founder and curator of festivals and spaces like VIA Festival, New Forms Festival, Hot Mass and her current residencies at Public Records and The Lot Radio. She’s also a board member of Resident Advisor, holding it down for independent scenes in a big way. In the booth she’s eclectic and elastic — playing with genre, tempo, pressure and pace to a mesmerizing result. Carving out murky chambers of hyperbaric dub, rollicking mountains of freaky drum play, crystalline pools of vocal hooks and euphoric melody, to all-out bass caverns for your booty, it’s all about riding an edge without falling off for Boo. She helped pioneer a new generation of audio-visual festivals in the US, co-founding the VIA Festival in 2010 in Pittsburgh, PA, and has utilized every opportunity to make viable space for womxn & non-binary promoters and artists across all her projects. As a curator she's facilitated unique collaborations between Oneohtrix Point Never/Nate Boyce, House of Kenzo/Team Rolfes, Pussykrew/Kelela, and supported breakout talent both in their early days and now: Yaeji, Juliana Huxtable, Aurora Halal, and Lotic to Giant Swan, Laurel Halo, NAAFI, Mike Q, Cakes da Killa, Junglepussy, Empress Of, Light Asylum, Nene H, Lafawndah, Jimmy Edgar, Jessy Lanza, Abdu Ali, Purple Tape Pedigree… the list is 1,000+ deep and keeps growing. Like any good rave mom, she curates programs that can thoughtfully link new voices with their predecessors like ESG, Tommy Wright III, Betty Davis, MC Lyte, Rakim, Richard Devine, Moodymann, Underground Resistance, Teklife DJs and more … encourage us to create new worlds together.Recently at Good Room, Nowadays, The Sultan Room · often with Mui Mui, In Plain Sight, AceMo, none of them here that night

the whole biography
Tara loves nightlife, having started out as an event producer and promoter. As a member of Rare Form, she helped originate Donuts are Forever, an annual fundraiser/tribute to J. Dilla, as well as Makossa Brooklyn Cookout, now 10 years strong as a beloved Brooklyn summer hang. Having performed at diverse and unconventional venues around New York City and abroad, Tara is always eager to find new and exciting crowds to spin for. Early on in her career, Tara realized being a DJ is more than just playing a mix of records; it is a matter of building trust between herself and the crowd and sharing the knowledge and love the she has for the music and the feelings it projects onto the listeners. The crowd trusts Tara to become part of another great night in their lives, and she returns that favor by giving them a taste of the familiar as well as something new that may be something they have never realized was needed in their musical memory.Recently at Jupiter Disco, Circle Line Cruises · often with Niyah West, FLORA, Kilopatrah Jones, none of them here that night
