Xica (chee-kuh) Soul is a Los Angeles-based DJ known for her magnetic presence on the decks that transcends boundaries of genre. Her sound is defined by artful blends of sultry rhythms, fierce thumpers, and dreamy nostalgia that create an undeniable energy on the dance floor. Xica’s diverse taste is ever changing, shifting through sounds with real dynamism, but yet always guiding her audience to unexpected and captivating musical spaces. Growing up in South San Diego, Xica was immersed in music from an early age. She has fond memories listening to her dad’s mixtapes on cassette, carefully curated for long Sunday evening drives, and waking up on weekend mornings to her family’s soundtrack of funk, oldies, disco and new wave records blasting from the kitchen. It inspired her own passion for record collecting, which for Xica, is an extension of her personal story and a way to connect with the deep roots of music culture. Xica is an established presence in the local Los Angeles scene, but she is no stranger to stages globally — she has played Boiler Room in Los Angeles, Good Room in New York, Multi Multi Festival in London, Sunday Sunday in Mexico City, and many more. Her monthly dublab radio show, SoundProof, is a platform for sonic exploration and discovery, where her passionate musical voice shines through. Xica is also a past resident of Hyde FM and Worldwide FM, and has played guest shows on Kiosk Radio, NTS, The Lot Radio, and Fault Radio. Over the past decade, the New York-based artist has quietly amassed a loyal following through expansive DJ sets that defy genre & style - a testament to his deep crates and skilled mixing. Originally from Singapore, Marco co-runs the Darker Than Wax record label & is a weekly resident on The Lot Radio in Brooklyn. Coming out of a busy 2024, with mixes / features on Resident Advisor (“a true digger’s delight”), DJ Mag and XLR8R (“a mix that’ll suck you in wherever you are”), he’s hit a stride with appearances across the US / Europe and Asia at clubs and parties like Nowadays (NYC), Public Records (NYC), Wonderfruit Festival (Thailand), Dimensions Festival (Croatia), Rhythm Section (London), Potato Head (Bali). Marco explores old and new underground styles in the spirit of educating and entertaining dancers, unafraid to jump between Obscure Disco to 90s House, Detroit Techno to Jungle, you’ll have to come along for the ride to hear what’s next.
