A longtime fixture of Detroit's club scene, DJ Minx is often referred to as the First Lady of Wax. Her sets and productions range from deep and minimal to boisterous and funky, earning her enduring respect across the global house and techno community. Active since the early 1990s, she formed the Women on Wax collective and launched its label in 2001, amplifying the voices of Detroit’s female DJs and producers. Minx scored an underground hit with the 2003 minimal house track “A Walk in the Park”—later reissued on Richie Hawtin’s M_nus imprint—and has continued to release music that bridges Detroit’s rich history with forward-thinking club culture. Throughout her career, Minx has played pivotal roles in Detroit’s musical story: hosting Deep Space Radio on WGPR, broadcasting Steamy Windows on CJAM, holding residencies at Club Motor, and performing at every edition of the Detroit Electronic Music Festival / Movement since its inception in 2000. Her contributions were formally recognized with the Spirit of Detroit Award in 2018, and she has been honored by Mixmag and Time Out as one of the women who shaped dance music history and among the top house DJs of all time. Since 2021, Minx has embraced her voice as a proud advocate for the Black queer community. She released Purse First to benefit Detroit’s Ruth Ellis Center, where she was also immortalized in a mural celebrating LGBTQ+ leaders. Her EP Queendom on HE.SHE.THEY. and her BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix debut in 2022 cemented her global presence. Do It All Night (Planet E) showcased remixes from Carl Craig and Honey Dijon, further elevating her reach. In 2025, Minx continues to thrive as one of Detroit’s most important cultural ambassadors. She released “Blocked” on Rules Don’t Apply in February—a sharp, self-empowering anthem—and collaborated with Kevin and Dantiez Saunderson as e-Dancer on “Detroit”, an intergenerational tribute to her city’s techno legacy. She also lit up her hometown with a halftime performance for the Detroit Pistons in March 2025. International bookings remain strong, with headline festival slots and curated stages at Movement and beyond. From her roots in Detroit’s underground to her present role as a global cultural force, DJ Minx stands as a living legend: bold, soulful, and uncompromising, still shaping the future of dance music more than three decades in.Their RA profile lists M-nus, Whasdat Music, Women On Wax Recordings and Sun & Sound Detroit.Recently at BASEMENT, Knockdown Center · often with Radio Slave, Jason Kendig, Eli Escobar, none of them here that night

Justin's coming-of-age as a fan and creator of dance music took place amidst the wide expanses of central Illinois. As a kid growing up in the state’s tucked-away capital of Springfield, he played drums as a jazz percussionist in school. While most of his peers were tuned into pop music, Justin was wearing out self-made mixes and classic disco compilations, workshopping new-wave influenced beats in bands and DJing college parties. A post-graduation move to Chicago led him to work for the influential dance music blog Little White Earbuds, opening him up to fully experience the city’s thriving underground house and techno scene. A Midwest-born and raised DJ, Justin has played at queer parties such as Wrecked, The Carry Nation, Horse Meat Disco, Honcho, and Club Toilet, and has gained a following all over the world with appearances at clubs like Smartbar Chicago, Panorama Bar, Is Burning Amsterdam, Razzmatazz Barcelona, DC10 and Lux Fragil. His bold, acid-flecked distillation of house and techno has found a home on the labels that are helping to shape the current landscape of transgressive body music, including The Bunker New York, Detroit’s Interdimensional Transmissions, and Honey Soundsystem Records. Justin's sound is defined by snaking acid lines, whip smart drums and offbeat rave melodies that have resonated with DJs and dancers from Detroit to Berlin. He has been featured in mixes for series such as Beats In Space, Truants, MixMag, Phantasy and The Bunker New York’s long-running podcast.Techno on 23, House on 20, Tech House on 10 and Acid on 9. styles on their catalogued releasesReleased on Acid For Trans Health (1), Spotlight Records (1) and The Night Institute (1); their RA profile also lists Turbo Recordings, Hotflush Recordings, Interdimensional Transmissions, Phonica White and 6 more. labels on their catalogued releases and on their RA profileRecently at BASEMENT, Paragon, public records · often with Mike Servito, Jeffrey Sfire, Kim Anh, none of them here that night
