French-born Jen Cardini (they/them) has been welcoming people into the discotheque for the last 30 years. Their belief that something more was hidden under the surface of electronic music has put them at the helm of tiny sweaty lesbian bars, flamboyant Ibiza superclubs, and off-the-beaten-path warehouse raves. Through their work as an A&R for the labels Correspondant and DISCH, their remixes and productions helped rephrase the world's understanding of the French dance music scene. They continue playing festivals such as Glastonbury, Primavera Sound, Field Day, Sonar, Butik Festival, Mutek, and more. Cardini is also a regular at some of the best clubs in the world, such as Berghain, Outra Cena, Bassiani, Basement, K41 or Club Raum. They have also been able to perform at iconic art venues like MoMA PS1 and the Centre Pompidou. What began as the Latin-industrial-hardcore fury of FALSE WITNESS has metamorphosed into something far more seductive: JUNIOR M. The M stands for Machine or Makina in Spanish, a nod to the rewiring of their production practice. Additionally, "Junior Makina" was one of their earliest monikers for studio creations that landed on the more playful side of club and house music in 2012. Their sound is queer, a touch sleazy, and aimed squarely for sweat-soaked dancefloors. Inspired by their years living in Berlin and DJing regularly at clubs like Lab.oratory, Renate and RSO, they’ve crafted a unique sound that blends Italo disco’s yearning synth lines with Dembow’s propulsion. Their sets, which move fluidly across genres, are engineered to feel cosmic and flirtatious. JUNIOR M officially landed in late 2023 with City Flowers (EMS021), their debut EP and first release under the new name. The arrival also coincided with the False Witness farewell tour, a victory lap across Asia that hit Singapore, Australia, Japan, China, and South Korea. Since 2012, Marco Gomez has held court in the American underground of electronic music as FALSE WITNESS, a moniker forged from a globally-minded understanding of club music. Alongside the #KUNQ artist collective, they pushed the boundaries of politics, social justice and nightlife and championed the original queer sound that underlined deconstructed club music emerging from New York City. As a resident of the fabled GHE20G0TH1K nights, False Witness pivoted their sound into the aggressive-meets-euphoric take on Techno that they are known for today. Growing into their own artistry alongside other major talents like LSDXOXO and Juliana Huxtable, FALSE WITNESS diverged from the standard dance music route in 2017 to pursue a Masters degree in contemporary art and sound performance. By the end of the decade, they were spearheading their own event series "In The Dark" at Bossa Nova Civic Club in Brooklyn, fueling demand for the up and coming artist to tour across Europe, Australia, and Asia. In 2019, their presence as a leftfield Techno producer was truly felt around the world with their first vinyl release, "Red Curtain Daybreak'' on E-Missions Recordings. Accolades from Mixmag, Groove Magazine, and other outlets poured in, praising the record’s abrasive, raw, no-holding-back approach. This period marked a major transition point upon their arrival to Berlin. From their performances at Herrensauna, Lab Dance at Berghain, Spielraum in Amsterdam, Bulto in Bogota and other major queer worldwide events came the birth of JUNIOR M. Combining classic NYC and Chicago House with Berlin’s embrace of Italo Disco and EBM, Junior M reflects Gomez’s ever expanding musical palette and skill as a producer and DJ. Junior M (the M stands for Machine) has since taken over as the main DJ and production moniker for the artist for 2024 and beyond. Although the Junior M title as a music production outfit stands firmly under the House genre umbrella, their DJ sets weave meticulously between various genres, displaying not just versatility but a true love for dance music. In addition to their own productions, they are also the official label manager of E-Missions Recordings, a boutique House & Techno music label founded in 2017 by artists P.Leone and Caiazzo in South Brooklyn & Queens, NY.
