Nadim Maghzal is a co-founder of Laylit and member of Lebanese-Canadian duo Wake Island. As a producer, musician and DJ, he is passionate about rhythm, range and dynamics across a wide variety of genres and draws from this passion to create energetic and electrifying dance sets. Saphe is a Syrian, New York-based DJ and curator and co-founder of Laylit, a monthly dance party and platform that brings together DJ sets and live instruments by artists from the MENA region and its diaspora. Approaching the dancefloor as a space of experimentation through which new forms of Arabic dance music can emerge, Saphe’s sets consist of highly percussive bass music, engaging with a variety of styles and practices from breakbeats, jungle & D&B, breaky techno, and his signature Arabic electronic beats. Myyuh is an Egyptian American New York City based DJ and multidisciplinary artist. Her DJ sets include a unique blend of African, Arabic, Latin, Funky house, Breaks, and R&B music. Myyuh blurs the lines of genre by bringing a playful and high energy to the dance floor through her unique sets—no two are ever the same. As a DJ and organizer of cultural communal spaces, she uses her vast knowledge of music as a tool to help promote self discovery and community connection. NAR (Nar Angel Rokh) is an Iranian-American artist, music producer, and DJ based in New York City. Described as “hard-edged, intensely spiritual and immaculately produced” NAR’s distinctive musical style fuses middle eastern soundscapes from their Iranian heritage with club-bass undertones from their American upbringing. A multi-instrumentalist since their early childhood in Los Angeles, NAR cultivated their skills touring and recording with numerous bands before ultimately solidifying their passion as a producer and DJ. Their unconventional aesthetic pushes the boundaries of both audio and visual mediums, showcased in their individual work as well as in collaborative projects like burqa. They recently caught the attention of Rihanna, who selected them to compose the original scores for the latest Fenty Beauty by Rihanna campaigns. NAR has toured Europe, Asia and the US, opening for critically acclaimed artists such as Future, Sophie, Kelela, Mykki Blanco, and Total Freedom among others. They have performed at major art institutions across the globe including the Istanbul and Performa Biennials, Miami Art Basel, ICA, New Museum and MoMa.
