Drawing from over ten years of training as a classical pianist, BEYBLADE SHAWTY’s expansive music curation and selection practice transfigures the confines of genre, incorporating sounds from across the Black diaspora. Especially inspired by vanguard music descended from jazz, funk, and soul, BEYBLADE SHAWTY's evocative, captivating, high-energy sets invite listeners on sonic journeys across spacetimes. Playfully irreverent lyrics, percussive basslines, breakbeats, and four-on-the-floor rhythms enchant audiences, transporting them to new worlds of free movement and self-expression. At once precisely methodical and deeply intuitive, BEYBLADE SHAWTY’s mixing practice is informed by the diverse musical backdrop that accompanied her upbringing. Subverting category, the DJ utilizes techniques spanning hip-hop, club, techno, bass, global house, and beyond, igniting auditory frequencies that co-create affective trust with her audience. BEYBLADE SHAWTY hosts The Baddie Hour, a NYC party series featuring local talent at some of the city’s most beloved venues. After years of unsuccessful searching, the DJ and her friends dreamt of a safe, fun environment in which they could reliably listen (and dance!) to great music. Since she couldn’t find one, she organized one herself. The artist's monthly Half Moon radio show, BEYBLADE SHAWTY FM, streams the fourth Thursday of every month at 8 PM EST.Recently at Anything, Honey's · often with Petal, BABEITSPURR, Virtual Kiss, none of them here that night

the whole biography
MPeach, aka Mariana Martín Capriles, is a Venezuelan multidisciplinary artist living in Brooklyn, NY. As a vocalist, producer, DJ, and audiovisual artist, she intertwines bass-heavy electronic sounds with rhythms rooted in traditional music. Having built a body of work that explores sounds of Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa, as well as the possibilities of these sounds in new electronic territories, MPeach lives in the liminal borderlands between honoring folk sounds rooted in rich cultural histories and envisioning the future of Latin American sound. By engaging Venezuelan folkloric music as a tradition that remains alive and evolving, she challenges stagnant notions of authenticity by creating work that is responsive to the forces that shape its creators, listeners, and dancers, using electronic music as a vehicle for preserving tradition in the collective memory. She has toured across the United States, Latin America, and Europe. MPeach has released music with Dutty Artz, Abstractor, Nacional Records, Interscope, Majia, On the Corner, and her own imprint, Peachtwon. Her music appears in several official motion picture soundtracks, including films such as Piedra, Papel o Tijera and Skate Kitchen, as well as television series like HBO’s Betty. She has performed alongside Arca, Cardopusher also known as Safety Trance, DJ Babatr, DJ Yirvin, and Phran at the first-ever Boiler Room in Caracas, Venezuela.often with JOSELO, 8888, Kamikaze, none of them here that night
