the whole biography
Born and raised in Tokyo, Alice Iguchi is a DJ currently based in Brooklyn, New York. After arriving in 2015, Alice found a sense of belonging in the underground house and techno music scene in New York City. Her foray with DJing began in 2017, and music has since become her international language of choice, expressed through an eclectic fusion of sounds. Alice recounts that her first recognition of music as a child was listening to jazz in her father’s car in Japan. As she developed her own tastes in music as a teenager, she ventured into playing guitar for a Tokyo rock band. At age 19, Alice’s musical influences expanded to artists who experimented with electronic elements like Radiohead, Bjork, and Massive Attack. When she started exploring other countries at 20, Alice became exposed to the international world of house and techno music. Additionally, the sounds that made an impression on her then and continue to inspire her now include percussive instruments from street performers that she encountered throughout her travels. As a DJ today, Alice has established a distinct sound rooted in her Japanese origins layered with the musical influences that she has amassed from the various stages of her life. The signature aspects of her music cleverly blend oriental tones, jazz-infused grooves, and organic percussion, at times with intentionally placed vocal hooks. Alice has an incredible ability to take her audience on a mesmerizing curated journey, be it with vibrant house, driving melodic techno, or deep sultry tunes suited for daytime, nighttime, or afterhours. In 2018, Alice established a residency at Do Not Sit On The Furniture while living in Miami and also performed at numerous events during Art Basel Miami and Miami Music Week. Upon moving back to Brooklyn in 2019, she has regularly been invited to play at New York City’s iconic clubs like the Brooklyn Mirage, House of Yes, and Elsewhere. Alice has performed at renowned global venues such as the main stage of the Brooklyn Mirage in New York City, Flash in DC, Womb in Tokyo, and the infamous Sisyphos in Berlin. She has shared the stage with Bob Moses, Guy Gerber, DJ Tennis, Maceo Plex, Joris Voorn, Rodriguez Jr., Einmusik, Blondish, Matthias Meyer, and Francesca Lombardo, among other notable artists. During 2023, Alice toured through Asia and made appearances in certain European cities, broadening the reach of her original sound and continuing to stir up the underground electronic music scene around the world.Recently at House of Yes, SILO, Bogart House · often with El Jeffre, DAVI, Rick Rosa, none of them here that night

the whole biography
Jersey born, bred and based, Mike Simonetti is a man of many caps. As an artist he’s in demand both as a solo act and as one half of acclaimed techno duo Pale Blue. In the business, he’s a multiple influential label founder with 25 years of breaking bands and accelerating culture to his name. In life, he is a serial crate digger and music lover. With a steady flow of releases and remixes on his own 2MR, Manpower’s Me Me Me, Public Release, Crosstown Rebels, Correspondant peppering the sets of premiership selectors such as Dixon, Ame, Mike Servino and Maceo Plex, the 2010s have seen Mike steadily rise to prominence as one of this decade’s most consistent, exciting and innovative producers both solo and with Elizabeth Wight as Pale Blue. This is no coincidence: Simonetti’s status is the result of decades of diligent work across multiple musical movements from punk to acid house as both a DJ and label owner. In the early 90s he founded cult imprint Troubleman Unlimited, a label responsible for breaking the likes of Chromatics and Glass Candy and releasing music by Prurient, Vatican Shadow, Zola Jesus, The Walkmen, Speedking (James Murphy’s first band), Unwound, and many many more acts long before their mainstream exposure. This tastemaker trend continues throughout every label Mike has founded since retiring Troubleman and exploring more dancefloor focussed sounds: between 2007-15 he ran Italians Do It Better with Glass Candy’s Johnny Jewell, during which time it became a by-word for innovative electronic fusion. Now 2MR (2 Mikes Records co-founded with Mike Sniper and Adam Gerrard) carries the mantel for joyous unpredictability and forefront electronic fusion, encouraging the boldest and most vibrant experiments from exciting new innovators such as Savile, Bottin, John Barera and many more. Galvanizing Mike’s ahead-of-the-curve signature and reflecting his ever-broadening musical brushstrokes in the studio and reputation as an international DJ, 2MR is yet another chapter for the man of many caps: an artist, a DJ, a label owner, a crate digger, a music lover…Their RA profile lists Crosstown Rebels, Italians Do It Better, Perseo, Correspondant and 5 more.Last at Black Flamingo in Mar · often with Hot Chip, Timo Lee, Panthera Krause, none of them here that night
